My current No. 3 DID setup

0.6 Ohm high wattage...

DID Standard (5 Brass nuts & center post)
Wickhole:3.5mm
#500 mesh, (Quick allover Jack frost, then rolled, torched quenched 2-3 times, then oxidizes with vertical juiceburns 2-3 times)
Starting mesh size: 37 x 105mm.
Solid wick rolled to 3.3-3.4mm(not as tight as I can roll it though, slightly "spongy" rather than solid as a rock)
2/3 wraps 28awg Kanthal, 34mm length of wire,2mm pitch of coil,
0.6 ohms
Vaped from 4.2 down to 3.6 volts or 29.4 - 19.27 Watts on mechanical mod (Paps V2 18650 & 18500)
Adjustable tank breather screw one turn & 1/2 out from fully closed no substantial leaks, just minimal seepage when super hot from chain vaping and laying on side for 5mins plus)

Seriously instant vapor from 4.2-3.8v, great 2 second satisfying hits, then nearly instant from 3.7-3.4v,3-6 second hits.
Very stable short free, Great flavor especial considering such high wattage.

Just an update after running the above coil for a couple of days.
Wow.. I thought Rick was crazy (no offense Rick) running a 0.6 Ohm coil on his gennys, but I am in love with my DID all over again (not to say I ever fell out of love with it). I was skeptical about how long a battery would last, would it fry my AW or my new grey Panasonics, would it burn the coil through the mesh before you can say melted hotspring Paps.
Well the battery (2250Mah grey Panny 186500 lasted late last night to late tonight, never have I had that before, plus it's as stable a setup as I've ever have, my batteries are showing no signs of strain & I'm getting great flavor awesome flavor and instant response from the coil down to 3.4v which is the voltage I've just changed the old battery out at, and I DIDn't change because of poor performance, but more because I was curious to see how many volts were left on it.
I don't know whether the long battery life is due to needing less hits as the nicotine delivery is so incredibly efficient or if it's so much like the feel of a cigarette that subconsciously after 5-10 mins I think "that was a nice smoke/vape, now to get on with my life for a while, maybe untill I feel like another smoke/vape" ,either way, thanks Rick for pioneering "the crazy coil DID" :) :)

Do you have to use a multimeter to measure resistance that low?

Assuming that's not a Joke CW LOL, I use my Zmax to measure my resistance, It won't fire at less than 1.2Ohms (the Zmax that is ), but it does measure accurate Ohms,
also PV Web Apps
will allow you to calculate Ohmage via your inputted data, like Kanthal gauge, coil outside diameter, coil pitch etc, it will also calculate length of wire point to point and wattage at entered voltage. A handy app indeed.:)

nope wasn't joking. I still use a multimeter for making exact no-res/res/no-res wires, but wasn't sure if a VV mpd would read that low as I don't run anything under ~1.3ohm. Reading your post though, thinking I may build a truly low res at lunch time today and didn't want to stick it on my Provari to test ohms (will run on 100%mech mod) and smell smoke...

Cool CW, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised, I'm running my tobacco ADV as we speak watching a movie and it's just like smoking used to be, without the ash, burn holes and so on. I hav'nt picked up and of my other three DIDs all day. Super satisfied I am :)

LOL, you mention burn holes. My wife pulled out the winter bins last weekend (we got our first frost). She gave me one of my favorite jackets and the first thing I noticed was about half a dozen little black rimmed burn holes. Guess it's time for a new favorite jacket :(

Hopefully it's vape friendly. :)

Tony your wick and coil defies all the known recommendations:
Wick straight .....um no
Coil snug .......um no
Coil not compressing wick......um no

Yet it works! Every time. The key is the wick as we know. Plus having the coil run up and down not just around gives you more surface area on the wick. There is more science to my wicks. It just takes a ...... like me to notice. :). Lol.

For those of us who don't use or have a mechanical PV that can pump out over 15 watts, this may be something you want to try. When using a thick ss wick, it acts like a heat sink so in order to get a more instantaneous hit, you need to use a very low ohm coil at over 15 watts. On something like a Provari, that ain't happening. I just made a wick using 3mm silica inside a SS mesh wrap of about 30mm. I used a 6//5 wrap of 30awg Kanthal that reads 2.2Ω. I can go up to 5.5 volts before my Provari (older 2.5 amp limit version) throws me an error. Because there's less ss mesh, it heats up quickly, yet still gives me the nice clean taste of ss mesh. Also, by leaving a bit of silica exposed at the bottom of the wick, it can rest on the bottom without worrying about a short. Got to say that it's the best wick I've used.

OK, so here's 0.8ohm, #500 SS-105mm, 28awg-3/4. I roll wick hole wide but use a 15ga blunt tip needle for the center channel. Vapes nice, tastes good. I'll put a couple tanks through it but I think I'm getting as good out of same wick setup with 30awg 4/5 @ 1.3ohm-1.4ohm.
