Congrats CW! Man that second shirt looks great!
A couple of observations. First, I've been using regulated devices for so long, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about using the Poldiac un-kicked. Well, I'm using 28awg Kanthal in a 5/6 wrap and consistently getting 1.2 - 1.3Ω which is just perfect at between 3.6 and 4.1 volts so I won't be using my kick in this. Also, I can't believe how nice the 18500 size tube feels. I can't thank you enough Jim!
The POLDIAC is a Masterpiece!

Happy new year DIDers and DIDettes, may all have a healthy and fruitfull year.
Back to the dogs, they scared as hell of the firewotk!

Happy New Year to you too, Monoxx
When I go out here, there is NOT ONE sound...no cars, no fireworks, nothing but a milkyway you can alsmost touch...
You can't imagine what a beauty that is.

Thx Pete, Happy New Year! I didn't expect the 2nd shirt, came in hand signed packing from Jim. It looks so cool with the polishing upper showing through the satin shirt - I'm just floored. Funny, I haven't checked the resistance of anything I've put on the Poldiac but have removed at least 1 wrap from every coil. I use 30awg on everything but do have 28awg (and ordered 26awg) - I think I'm spoiled for really LR 100% mech now....

Happy New Year everyone!

I just spend the last 30 minutes sitting in front of the window with my arm around my dog looking at the pretty fireworks. I found out that as long as I keep being enthusiastic about the fireworks and tell him to look at the pretty fireworks while petting him, he keeps looking and wagging! Beats last year when he only wanted to lay under my desk and howl and bark.

We're lucking with Ollie. He's got the same selective attention all my kids have. He's not bothered in the least unless we react to something. Then he's like the dopey dogs in the cartoons, "which way did he go George..."

My pointer-cross is a rescue dog from Ireland and he was afraid of EVERYTHING when I got him. He is a lot better now. My other dog, a white Labrador who grew up in the Netherlands (and thus loads and loads of fireworks every year) could not care less about the fireworks, she is way more disgruntled that I wont share my snacks (oliebollen, a Dutch thing) with her!

Good Golly!! Ollie's a Mollie!!!

(love that dog, so precious!)

No, not a Molly...a lovely little guy with good taste ;)

This is what my big one would have done...steel away what I like most.
But instead of hiding it, he would have showd me his triumph :)
It got better when he got older except for the toiletpaper...

Until the day I had to let him go, hunderds of meters I've been gathering from the garden

Happy new year Jim, and all my friends on the DID thread.
It has been a frugal year for me in many ways, and as happy as I am for all those who have their new Poldiacs in transit or better still in hand, I can't help but feel sad I missed out on Jim's generous deal for all three tubes with pre 2013 orders :(
I just couldn't keep hold of the spare cash I needed ( even with an offer of a Xmas donation from my girlfriend).
I hope everyone has a fortuitous new year, but for myself I just hope it's enough to be able to order my Poldiac sob!
No other PV has the class, design ingenouity or outright desirability of Jim's beautiful creation.
Want it! Will get it! :)

Happy new year to you all!
I am thousand of miles from HOME, this thread is home away from home, thanks.
Jim, you can take it easy with my order, LTMMIBXZI, I wont be home til late January.

Hoey

Funny how this can work sometimes. isn't it?
Although thousands of miles away, everybody needs somekind of anchor...
And in the end, it's not the beauty of the device, but the thought behing it and the people it's attract that does it.
Have a good time, stay safe and treat us once and a while with your beautiful pictures of the Did traveling all over the world....
Happy New Year!

OK I took the plunge and ordered a poldiac.....not new year here yet so may be lucky and get the extra tubes. I also added the parts to make the Gemini....which I will build upside down just for kicks ..... seeing as no one here has remembered to do it for me. I also tagged in a setup base because I lost another nut down the sink. You would thin, that I would have learned already not to unscrew anything near the sink.
