Hey all,
How is everyone?
A very late grats to Jim on his 1 year for the DID. That also means I have been off the stinkies for a year :D
I want to change my name from Spanked to "that lazy ... who has the #32 Polidac but still hasn't updated his sig".
And if you think that is lazy I have never cleaned any of my DID family. I promise I will when something stops working.

Hi CW noticed you are using ss wire rope on Temon with good results, have you tried it out with the DID yet?. I do not have a problem with rolling wicks or coils and get good results, so before I start chasing down some rope. It would be great to get a bit of feedback from someone who knows what good results are from a rolled wick.
Thanks

Thanks CW I am getting a voltage drop of 0.7-0.8 I have the stainless steel button.Do you think the spring in the switch could be a problem?I am thinking of getting a copper hot spring and making one fit to see if that helps.

Thanks bud, yep tried that , D16 is fine on my PAPS , Temon holder fires all my atties very weakly. I ultrasonic cleaned everything last nigh, changed out the springs put noalox on the threads and still getting massive voltage drop on brand new AW IMR.

I agree Tony , springs suck, I am hoping Jim has plans to upgrade the spring system to the 510 and replace it with Brass Telescopic screws like the new PAPS and other mods, its a very solid brass connection and you can still adjust to fit batteries with no rattle.

Atlantisboy, a small adjustment I'd suggest would be to try and find an 8mm brass screw to replace the spring contact. This will eliminate battery movements when pushing the switch. You may need to trim it a little to have the D16 totally flush on the battery holder (depending on the battery you use).

I am using the steel wick in my DIDs and it is working extremely well. I am using the 3/32th size with approx 2 wraps of 500 mesh at the top only. I have to say that the steel has outstanding performance.

Thanks for that, when you say performance does that include flavour as well as wicking? 3/32 must be just under 3mm just right for clearance of hole. I guess I shall have to pay a visit to the boat shop for some 316 ss and give it a try out thanks again.

Thanks bud, do you know if it is M2 or M3 or m4 for the screw? I definitely want to do that and also find a softer spring, with a few tweeks this would be a great out and about device but stock I don't find it to be up to the normal MM high standard but I'm going to make it that way :) Does anyone know if Jim has any plans to upgrade the switch or the whole spring 510 thing?

The D16 is right up there with the D20... there's no real competition where they stand.
But true, the battery holder needs these minor tweaks. I also replaced the spring with a softer one. I guess it's a matter of user preference.
So the screw diameter is 5mm that's all I know and you need at least 8mm to reach a 14650 flat top; just unscrew it and you'll get a good idea :) once you have that battery locked in place, the button will feel different...

I hope you get the problem solved soon AB! I so want a Temon but am waiting for the new improved V2 to debut. (hint hint to Jim lol).

Overall! How cool! I hoped someone here would try the cable before I splurge on it too. I'm definitely getting some to try now. (as if the Hill Giant hadn't convinced me already lol, but now I'm adamant).

G'day Uma, I will give it a go seems as those using it are happy, my only concern is the fact that with my current setup I can pull the wick clean it dry burn coil refill and be vaping in a few minuit's.
I will see how it goes, after all the fun part of this vaping lifestyle is experimentation.

Thanks Uma , going to hardware store tomorrow to see if I can find a brass screw that will fit. If you want some cable I have some I could send you to sample. In my opinion they wick really well but take a long time to break in to get the same flavor as you do with mesh. Too long for me, if you don't have wicking issues I don't see the point.Maybe good for atties with small wick holes but not needed in DIDs :)

You can pull the cable wick also and dry burn. I have mine wrapped with just a couple of layers of mesh, enough to cover the top 2/3 of the wick. The bottom is just the rope. I believe some are having success oxidizing the wick. I did try just wrapping the coil straight on the wick only to find myself in short city. The flavor is as good as a solid mesh wick but the wicking is better with the cable.
My preference thus far is
1. Cable
2. Mesh rolled solid
3. Ceramic

No ohm limit but use good high drain batts like AW. You must have a dead short being created to fry the spring though. I had an Aga but threw it away when I saw that they used silicone insulators that compressed out of shape. I hate to sound like a clone hater but you might consider buying a quality atty and enjoy it for life. DID's are pretty much bullet proof!

+++++++++++++=10 on that

Cable all the way, I have not looked at a piece of mesh besides the couple of mils to wrap the top where the coils go. Great wicking, great flavor and I have it in a cobra with medium to small wick hole as well as my DID's with no issues at all. Talk about reuse, bar none. You have to get a good cutter though so the cable does not frey.

Please be careful...NO Galvanized cable! Use 316 only!

Ok, after reading and viewing the umpteenth glowing review of ss rope, I went ahead and ordered some! I have incredible self control, don't I????

The only thing that worries me about it is that it takes a little while (couple of seconds) to heat up from what I've heard. I'm hoping that it wicks so well that I can use the screw in the fill hole.
We'll see.
