1. My wick is cut off at top of screw post

2. I use both nuts to securely hold the wire. I do not like wrapping a wire around a post - reminds me of the Line - that never was properly secured IMO

3. I torch the mesh on both sides before rolling. After rolled I torch it two more times. When I say torch - its torch , not a cigarette lighter nor a stove. If you can afford a DID you can afford proper equip. After torching I put vg on mesh and light it on fire w/a lighter - I do this twice. No quenching going on here. Then I wrap the coil. I light the wire first till red w.cigarette lighter. The mesh is folded a bit on one side - the other side is rolled towards the folded side using a paper clip.

Mesh is installed w/paper clip in DID, then wire is wrapped.

I do this so when I install there are no problems and it works the first time. I dont have time to fiddle with shorts.

ALSO - people are worrying about OHMS - I never ohm my coils - makes no sense. You either like 3, 4, 5 or 6 wraps @ 3.7 as standard - who cares what the ohms are - its all about flavor and vapor

People get caught up in Ohms because of the "8 watt sweet spot"

I was more meaning the diameter of the wick as Jim's looks like a straw but, most on here look rather tiny leaving a lot of space between the wick and the hole. Thanks for the rest as well.

A sad thing that can happen with the DID, as with most Genesis style atty's, is believing it's working properly when it's not. As has been attested to in this thread, the DID is capable of producing a truly outstanding vape. If you're not getting a vape that ranks among the best (if not THE best) you've sampled, then there is likely something lacking in your setup. So keep researching and adjusting until the light goes off and you think...'aha...so that's what everyone's been talking about.' It will eventually happen.

In case anyone is still interested. I took the old coil off.
It was a little shorter than the one I replicated.
The folds are where the wire was under the screw and nut.
sz.jpg

It measured out at 2.9 ohms.
Minus the 0.6 of the meter. So 2.3 ohms.
r.jpg

I put the replica in. Unfortunately the wick didn't fair too well.
c.jpg

Still glowed OK. Just a little hot spot.
g.jpg

Showed 2.1 ohms on install and 2.4 ohms after an hour of vaping.

+1000 On the Glass Tips, I'm using nothing but and have been for a long time now there just the ultimate and work great. Using Genesis Atty's does take a bit of getting use to, and when you do get it working like it is made to work the flavor of your juice is awesome and you clearly know it when its working perfect. I think to many people do 2 things wrong when making there wick/wire set ups. 1. they pull there wires to tight around the wicks and 2. they dont pull the wick over close enough to the center pole which helps from getting hot spots in my opinion, it should almost be touching it but not quite.

After making my wick/wire set up I always do a dry burn first to make sure all the wires are glowing equally and once they are I add a little juice that I'm going to use to the wick only and burn it a bit too, there's just no sense in my opinion to add juice to the tank until you have the equal glow of the wick and know your set up is right.

Well, looks like another day with no DID thanks to the hell that is NY postal service(no problem with the residents at all). That is the only post office I have ever had my stuff shipped through that took longer than a day to be on it's way to my house.I have had packages go through there and then spend 2-3 days driving around NY only to stop again for a day or three before coming here.Enough of my rant and hopefully they will ship it out today and get it somewhere closer to my home.

That sucks. I hated waiting for mine. But it will be worth the wait. If you never used a genisis before like me you are in for a real treat! So amazing and consistent. Cheap to operate also. That was my main reason.

Really looking forward to that and the taste because I am tired of fillered cartos(although they perform well)taste and performance start waning pretty much after a day or two.I have been pretty much using 2 DCT's and dripping occasionally when the performance doesn't cut it with them.I have it all hooked up to a Buzzpro to try and squeeze as much performance out as possible. It will be nice to just make a coil around what ohm's suits me and just use it without having to worry that it's going to stop up or start having very little taste. This will be my first "genesis style" as well although I have tried every combination of atty, carto out there like most of us has my satisfaction has been diminished for the last few weeks.

I gave up smoking in Feb 2010 so,I haven't thought of using another one.I have however been pretty aggravated recently with cartomizer quality and have been very aggravated about "wasting" juice on under-performing vapes.I have been researching genesis atties for a while but, didn't like what methods were being used to obtain one.The whole sign up and hope thing just never gave me a good feeling. That is why I purchased the DID as soon as I was able to and pretty much right after Scott's(igetcha69)video.After that and watching Jim's videos I was sold.:D

I should be in here more often cuz this is an amazing product, built by an amazing guy, with amazing people in the thread. That said, I will make a point of reading this thread from the very beginning instead of just here and there.

I FINALLY had the time to sit and wrap a good coil after several failed attempts. It's only 4 wraps as I haven't perfected my skills at wrapping any more than that in the tiny space that is. I'm finding that my juice doesn't taste as good as it does in my other rebuildable. How long before I can expect it to get better? A tank or two? Or do you think I've screwed something up? It's reading 1.9 ohms and I'm vaping on my provari at 3.8 volts.

WTG, K-Man! This is the first? You didn't re-coil any of the Zeneses, did you?

I'm thinking the His recommendation to pre-soak the wick in PG/VG makes a lot of sense, in terms of avoiding "break in"...

Also, did you / anyone try to vape it without the filling hole screw? It should help wicking, and some say flavor...

Yay! a genesis thats not sold out.... Just found this.. Tried looking for closeups and wonder if anyone could answer a thing or two...

what are the center brass screws? I see two outside allen screws and a hole for the mesh.. Whats the middle part with the two textured brass screws for?
Can you screw off the whole top part above the reservoir to check your tank or do you need to remove the wick? how much do each of the two options hold juicewise? Thanks!
Lastly, do good instructions come with the DID?

I don't know, I'm still waiting for my DID in the mail, but you can now buy a clear window tank from the site for 6 euro, which I did. So you'll be able to see your liquid.

Ok, I pulled the trigger and ordered... I was already fed up with cartos this week after not being able to find mine.. Now I plan to never go back....

Ill definitely be on here a bit asking for support and helping out as well...
I am a little worried about the whole refilling part, changing juices, etc.... I did get a clear window too though... I just feel like Im going to need to take everything apart every 4ml to clean out the last flavor to prepare for the next... Well see..
Anyway, off to buy a blow torch :)

Ok, I'm a little concerned. My order 737 (shorty kit) arrived on Monday and my order 562 (DID, ordered 2 days before) hasn't arrived. Oddly, the tracking number for 737 says its "departed" New York and the tracking number for 562 says "delivered". Is this normal?

Hi Cloud Wizard, I think the issues lie with USPS tracking as the very first DID I ordered showed delivered to Cali (it wasn't) then it finally showed up to me in FL. My second and third order numbers i never could track as they just showed still in Greece until they were delivered. I would recommend giving it a few business days as I just received order #546 and #640 yesterday. Good Luck :)
