finally received my DID! took forever to build a decent coil but i did it. air hole could definitely be larger. what are your experiences with different sizes anyone? i think 1.5mm would be perfect.

what are some set-ups to maximize vapor with the stock air-hole? so far i've got a 400 steel mesh rolled into a tube (several layers thick) as wide as the wick hole wrapped 5/4 30awg @ 2.5 ohms, 4.3 volts. its a tasty smooth vape but nothing like my cyclone rda. id like to set it up to hit like my cyclone though.

are the threads clean too? I have had this with my Poldiac and after I cleaned every single thread (yes I just decided to do all, so even the threads that screw the end cap with the spring on) it worked again like before. Threads definitely matter, and the threads of the 510 on the atty matter too.

thanks, i'll try and clean the 510 top cap better, maybe my threads near the bottom cap too... i finally found my 18650 tube (only use 18500) and it fires, but hits like a chinese clone, i'm thinking i've got some threads somewhere overlooked and gunked up :) I was worried it was the plastic or magnet in the switch or something, but with no atty i'm not getting hardly any vdrop

When I was wicking with SS mesh I'd do a #500 with 50mm x 40mm wraped around a blunt tip 15ga needle (ends up about wick hole wide). On 1000% mech mods a 2/3 of 30awg would come in ~0.8Ω, on a Provari I'd still use 30awg but wrap a 4/5 to get about ~1.2Ω (@4.1v = ~14watts). Now, I use 2.0mm 316 7x19 rope wire with a #500 SS diaper and 0.6mm x 0.1mm ribbon Kanthal on everything. A 3/4 comes in ~0.8Ω and a 5/6 is ~1.2Ω.

poldiac has me stumped.

It won't fire... if i put a multimeter on the top cap and post and fire it, multimeter shows 4 volts.... but it wont fire with anything I put on it. (pretty advanced user btw...)

Hardest thing is to clean female threads.

I'm looking at the exact same setup here on my desk LOL. I have 2 DIDs.. one of them is an older model and a 1/16 drill bit fits perfectly in the air hole (bought it used) at first I thought it was way to big but now it's my favorite. My second DID, I had the air hole drilled to 1.4mm and I enjoy it also. It's wicked with ekowool instead of mesh and works wonderfully.

On a side note... the DID I have wicked with mesh... I picked it up and vaped it several times and kept getting a harsh hit and not much vapor :confused: WTH! It was fine just a little while ago... I set it aside thinking I would recoil it tomorrow. I just looked down and notice that the air hole wasn't in line with the wick :?: the top cap had loosened a bit so I screwed it back in place and every thing was right in my world again :D

How to: Poldiac button assembly

Funny :D I just did this today and replaced my original contacts with my All Brass ones. Must be a little worn because I ended up gaining back 0.2 volts in drop that I was experiencing :D I think I need to do another really good cleaning on the whole shibang again too :D That will be this weekends project. Full on Tear down, turbo cleanse and rebuild :D

Hope everyone is having a great week my Friends :D
Sincerely;
Nate

Ya know..... I discovered something tonight...... A little aluminum foil in a pyrex dish with some baking soda and really hot almost boiling water can be a magical thing on contacts for PV's :D Just took the voltage drop down on my Poldiac by .3 volts back to 0.35 volts of drop which is actually really danged good for a mechanical mod with very old and worn contacts :D

Hope everyone is doing great :D
Sincerely;
Nate

Devonmonshire, add some salt too and you'll get even better results ;)

Wouldn't the salt corrode the contacts silver plating? If not then I am all about trying to get the highest performance out of this beauty :D It is after all my Primary vape all day :D

Sincerely;
Nate
