wondering if it's possible to use insulated resistance wire instead of kanthal (so no need for wick burning)...

if its insulated, it would be insulated away from the juice, also insulation if made with plastic would melt i think...

IMHO that would make no sense. why would you insulate a wire that is going to heat up

... spot on, vdrum!!

Edit: The coil needs to be in contact with the juice in order to vaporise it.....

My DID arrived yesterday ....exactly 7 days for shipping to Texas.
Got it up and running wick, coil and all in 30minutes. Great build quality .....May just have to order another one.
This does not leak at all....not sure how this is possible but I had it laying flat on its side all night and not a drop of juice leaked.
There is a short learning curve with the center post and fixing shorts. Took about 15 minutes to get the coil working perfectly without shorts.
Seems like only 1 nut is needed on the positive post. I have both on there but tested it with only 1 and it worked great.
The DID is well polished. Pictures really do not do it justice.
This is definitely one that can be used daily and thrown in a purse or pocket without fear of it leaking.

PS: How does one go about getting a like from a real lioness :)

Love the sig quote too!!
Thanks, I saw the quote on a TEDTALK.

I ended up finding 30mm x 40mm on scott's review.. Will do slightly larger for other one... First is steaming away... Now to set up hubby's!

BTW. Wow this thing ROCKS so far... No problem to set up.. Even my first time ( disclaimer i do have an engineering degree so not my first rodeo) went so smooth.. Little poking at the coil and awesomeness!

Why, thank you ma'am :)

Can I refer you to Thread page 50, Post 496..... It explains how I setup my wicks and coils. It's just my way, others may do it differently, but the process detailed works for me. Let us know how you get on. You really are in for a treat..... the DID is the best vape EVER !!!

Edit: You beat me to it, lol.

Can you elaborate? One nut (... and keep it clean..... :). Am I walking into something if I ask how it could work with one nut ??

The positive post has 3 nuts. One nut screws down to the bottom to secure the post then we are left with 2 nuts that screw down part way. The positive wire is supposed to wrap around the post between these 2 top nuts.
The nuts are loose and free moving. So i think we could wrap the kanthal around the center post with the middle nut at a resting surface. Because the wire is wrapped around the center post it is secure.

I only thought of this after tinkering with a short and finding these nuts hard to tinker with in the small space. Vapes the same without the top nut as with it.

I snagged the P+18500 on the Super-T website... Love my P+18650 so much... Was actually trying for the 18350 but was sold out before I was able to check out, bummer...
18350 +P. Kinda like this. :) Sorry for the crappy phone pic.

For anyone looking for Kanthal a-1 32 awg: Kanthal A-1 32AWG

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

That's 5 bucks for approx. 3ft of wire. That guy is nuts. A 100' roll is only $5.50. Me thinks he bought some on Ebay last night and is trying to get one over on a few folks...

Okay... like the original Genesis attys used to wrap the Kanthal around silver electrodes. If it works for you, great!!

I've read the entire thread and been following pretty closely since my first order.... Maybe no new info has been posted by Jim... Maybe I've missed it somehow.

Any update on when a "Brushed" version (instead of polished) of both DIDs might be available?

Any idea of clear tank availability yet? Will there be clear tanks made for both the standard and the mini DIDs?

Thanks!
