Your not alone. I have had every problem imaginable. With just the top glowing you have a short at the top. You have to put some slack in the wire before you make it tight so it wont pull the wire into the wick causing it to cut into the oxidation. If you are sure thats not the issue then make sure the wire is not to far from the wick. If you have a long straight run it will tend to glow first. The only thing the wick should be is a straw for the juice. Cant wrap it to tight or to loose. Sure you know all this though. Its hard to get it down pat. Did you try that Sdan technique? The one where he wrapped the coil around the paper without it being in the atty? Cant wait to try that. Wonder why no one thought of that first. Reason I say it looks like the best way is cause you have less chance or cutting into the oxidation and making a nice straight coil.I hate to be the only person saying anything on the negative side here but Im a Electrical Engineer that works with tiny circuits, soldering, bilding chipsets, and repairing laptops for a living for Hewlett Packard, never in my life has something gave me so much of a issue. If someone can PM me or in somme way help me get to a point where more than just the top coil glows and I actually taste my juice just 1 time and not unflavored 50/50 nic juice Im more than willing to listen and get this thing going.....otherwise...I feel this thing is going to be in the classies VERY Very soon, 38 coils later wrapped every way they possibly can be wrapped for the amount of wick their is to work with and still nada, zilch, ZERO. Top coil is the ONLY one even remotely glowing. I've watched ALL the vids, looked at ALL the pics, Im as patient as a oyster but this thing has got me FLUSTERED !!!!!
I am having issues also but I am going to wait till my PV gets here (2 or 3 more days) that way I can rule that part out. I am having PV issues so I just let the DID sit on the desk for now. Mine just seems like it wants more power. When I turn my PV up it get hot cause the internals are not able to push the power it needs. My PV is a $12 home made jobby. Cant push dcc's with it, or anything low res for that matter. I hope you get it.
