Just outside my comfort zone.
I use 100% VG with both without any problems. I also only use my provari's and find that if it is on high voltage and you change to a lower voltage(determined by number of ohms), id the only time I ever get errors. If you get errors just loosen your DID and check ohms or lower the voltage. Hope this helps. Oh yeah, Mini DID should be on Jim's website tomorrow or the day after.

I just finished reading this entire thread. Been working on it all week. I plan to order one in the next week or two. I have a couple of quick questions before taking the plunge if any experienced users don't mind chiming in.
1. I understand that 32 kethanal is the most commonly used wire but which wick between 325 and 400 is the most versatile? I mainly vape bwb which other than malty is 70/30 pg/vg and I also use 100vg such as gorilla juice so I want to purchase the mesh that is best suited to vaping both as opposed to one or the other.
2. I just read on another forum a claim that the did is not very compatible with the provari and will result in e2 errors. Is there any truth to this statement? I exclusively use the provari and do not intend to purchase another. Just wanted reassurance from provari owners that the did runs flawlessly on their mod. I can't imagine it not working on the provari. I get those errors when an atomizer needs more drops. Perhaps they are getting the errors during a dryburn. Thanks for any thoughts on these questions.

do you do this before rolling up the wick?

Hey Ty....
if that question was directed to me, yes.
I burn it bright orange over the stove flame for 3 or 4 minutes.
Then roll it to size.

Then I usually wrap my wire, insert it in which every "genny" type device I'm using,
then attach my wire ends.

Like I said.... getting the wire wrapped right is usually my "downfall".
When I get that right, I don't have shorts.

Congrats on receiving and working your DID!! (and to all others who've done so too).

I used the Jack Frost method too, burned the edges and screen over the stovetop flame. (didn't quench)
Next I rolled it onto the wrench, but I couldn't roll it small enough for the life of me.
Next, straightened out a medium sized paper clip and rolled it around that. Perfect!
Next, cut the tank's end of the mesh at an angle, measured and cut the top part off. (oops, should have left the top alone at this stage).
Next, oxidized and quenched 3 or 4x.
Next, dripped ejuice on it, set it afire let it go out, about 5 times.
Next, wrapped a cutout zigzig paper around the coil end.
Next, heated the wire, straightened with fingers
Next, wrapped the coil 4 times.
Next, inserted and tightened it down.
Next, fired er up in the dark and burnt the paper off. All coils glowing red!!!
Next, ejuiced the coil, and fired it off about 4x...
Next, noticed the top coil is off the mesh lol, and is a HALO over the wick,.. and she still fires up!

I used a non-fresh, mostly used up battery for the above steps.

I had to use a huge magnifying glass, my eyes are too old for fine details such as the wire that is as thin as a hair irl.
But, it's easy when you can "see".

My next mesh will be cut after I've coiled and inserted. (except the angled tank end, which will be cut beforehand and new edges burnt off).

All in all, I guess I said the same thing, just different eyes and an opps tossed in. :)

Hey Uma!
I don't quench at all.
Not even with PG/VG or ejuice.

I do sometimes heat up the wire, but this makes it harder for me to see, because now it's a dark wire against a dark mesh. LOL
It does work better for me when I heat the wire, less break in time, just harder to see.

I heat it up 3 or 4 minutes over the stove flame. (blue flame)
Rolled it around the Allen Wrench, but didn't get it tight enough to fit, so I just rolled it more in my fingers til it fit.
Cut the tank end on an angle, wrapped the wire around it.

Inserted, fastened the ends and I was good to go.
A few minor adjustments on the wire and it's fine.

I did take the two top brass nuts off completely and just wrapped that end of the wire around the brass post.

Has anyone in the 600-700 order number range not received the DID yet? Mine was 670 (order 544 was DID combined with short tank 670) but it's still a no-show :( Still saying "processed through sort facility - ISC New York" been like that since the 24th of June. Getting a bit worried at this point... Thanks all

#640 short kit just arrived today

I seem to have wasted my money.

Got 5 other tanks that are all unused/unopened and 3 more on the way. I simply have no present desire to use or even try them since doing my DID (or maybe the DID is doing me) :D

Made a new 5-wrap coil last night measuring 2.2-2.3ohm and presently using it on my vmax at 3.5v. Now broken in perfectly and it's absolutely fantastic. I'm convinced the 5 wrapper is giving me better flavour and a little more vapour.

A cool thing I've tried. I mostly vape a tobacco blend which always sits in the tank and as I was breaking in the new coil I used other fruit flavours to drip on the wick. A most interesting result. It reminded me of actual dripping. Used several drops of cherry, vaped it and was cherry tobacco. Continued vaping and flavour went right back to the tobacco base after a few hits. I then dripped a few drops of cranberry and same effect. Interesting how you can achieve this dripping effect from your Genesis atty and change flavours on the fly.

Ran into a scary moment last night. After all I've done to achieve DID perfection, out of nowhere... horrid tastes, ohm fluctuations and almost no vapour. LOL..turns out I had vaped my tank almost bone dry.

Clear tank could help there. When I was on vacation and took my DiDs out boating, it was a pain to open the fill hole and put a syringe in and check if there's enough liquid to last me the day. Clear tanks solve that issue.

What 5 do you have?

Most certainly these are an intended purchase but I do really love the stock SS tank, despite the minor non-transparent inconvenience.

I think my order number is 606. It also has been in NY since the 24th and today I checked, it's in NJ. I hope it's moving faster now that it's out of NY.

received the short tank upgrade today. kind of expen$ive though very nice, the shorter size and less top weight was exactly what i was seeking, so i'm very satisfied. it didn't come with rubber o rings for the center post, but i had the 2 extra that were included with the DID. Now with this new size i'd like to get a quartz or pyrex tank.

if there is a bigger hole(i'd really like to try 5/64) top cap becoming available, i might as well get an additional top and bottom so i can have two complete setups.
