I REALLY like the Kir Fanis tanks, particularly the frosted tops and bottoms. Adds a little style to my eyes. Would really like to see some pics with the Kir's on the DID. I've ordered mine already.

Didn't know they were frosted. Now I have to get one of them also. lol

Well, if you've lived here 35+ years, it's nothing special. Especially if a hurricaine just hit. I can definately feel for those who lost power in that storm last week, and have to suffer this heat with no A/C.

Ouch man that is bad. It's kind of like that here with the Smokies since I have lived so close all of my life I don't see it as a real destination but, tourists love it.I couldn't make it without the A/C though good luck.

Try using some 36awg kanthal instead of the 32.

OK I'll try that. I know I have a roll of 34awg. I'll look for some 36awg today.
I work for Motion Industries and at work yesterday I was able to talk to some vendors who make the wire mesh and three of them said they will ship me out some sample sheets :)

So... it's alive!

So far I am very happy with my DID. I haven't even gone through a full ml of juice, so I'll post more on performance later.

But it sure looks fine:

img004815.jpg

Build quality: all parts are flawless, match perfectly and the threads are smooth and noiseless. When it's fully assembled it feels compact and sturdy, unlike my other genny device. The 510 connector is good and secure, it sits almost flush on my ProVari and Legacy (without adjustments).

Ease of assembly (body): no skills job - everything only fits one way, it's basically just scewing stuff together. The smallest parts are the center post washers, but it's not that bad. I guess people with some level of dexterity impairment will have a hard time putting those on. Nothing else to say.

Ease of assembly (coil): oh, well... I'd give it a 3+/5 compared to my only other genny - a Zenesis standard. And that considering that Zenesis requires two different keys for the process. The brass nuts are a mess - you have to fiddle with the bottom one, then if you are not careful you end up moving both as you tighten the top one, then if they come together you can just unscrew the top one alone... It's a pain. But it does the job. You can't do an easy secure (i.e half loop the wire then secure it like that, such as you can do with the negative connector). You have to first fully wrap the wire around the pin then secure it somehow.

I really like the thicker, sturdier wick though. My wick is a bit shorter than in the video, but there is no real problem gauging the length of the coil so everything goes together. I make my coils outside the device. I think my wick touches the bottom of the tank, and it is indeed a bit annoying that I can't see it.

Once it's done, it feels secure and it doesn't seem like it's going to go anywhere, and screwing instead of snapping on the top cap also contributes tot he sturdy feeling - you don't worry you'll destroy your coil as you put the top cap on.

Performance (initial) - I made a 4 wrap coil, and got 2.1 Ohm, stable from the get-go (Jack Frost + rolling paper). It produces a very satisfactory amount of vapor starting at 5.8 Watt, then my sweet spot seems to be at 8 Watt (4.1 V on the ProVari). It's warm and thick and saturated. The wicking is extremely good, better than the Zenesis - no dry hits even without tipping it down. The vapor, so far, not fully broken in, seems very promising.

Flavor isn't fully developed yet. I'm vaping a simple Peach menthol. The menthol obviously comes through strongly, the peach is muted and there is still some add-on taste that I'm not sure where it comes from - I hope it goes away with break-in. It actually goes away at lower power so I'll keep it at that for now to break in.

It doesn't leak.

I strongly feel it would perform better with a larger airhole. I have no clue how to go about making the hole larger, but I'd actually hope Jim will consider an "open draw" cap or someone here maybe help me figure out how to drill it larger...

So that's my take so far. I am really enjoying it, and I hope it'll get much better after a couple of tankfuls.

Great review and thanks for the pictures although I'm jealous now thanks to mine sitting in NY(obvious by now what I think of their post office)still.

Hey Elf, get a 1/16 titanium or cobalt drill bit and have at it - goes through in about 3 seconds, opens it up just right. I keep my other one standard w/a more open drip tip.

You will get use to the screw post, just screw top one down, lower one up to meet it if it moves. - very secure connection. I like them better than fiddling around with screwdrivers or allen wrenches on the top connection

Thank you! I just drill through the existing hole? No chance to break it or anything? Sorry for being so clueless...

I got this in today!!!4.5ml "Shorty" Cartomizer Tank by SmokTech Thanks for the recommendation. It works perfectly right out the package on my DID. I didn't need to cut the tube or anything. Now I can not only see my juice, but use tank cracker juices as well. I love it. I think the DID is my favorite Genesis style atty, now! I need to be careful, saying this. I don't know for sure if my Zenesis just moved to second place, so I will just call it a tie.
:toast:
Here's a crappy pic I took with my webcam.

Congrats on getting your clear tank that you wanted - and to everyone else that wanted them. Glad you all found some that fit well.

I will agree with you on DID vs Zenisis - except I will say it - I feel the DID has better flavor overall , even though I like both. Some juices work best in DID - Some work better in ZAG. DID is tops with me in looks category too.

No my friend, no worries. I put mine in a vice with the sides protected. Put some thick rubber type foam w/sticky back on the DID. Anyone who knows me, knows I would have a heart attack if I scratched any of my equipment.

Just stick bit on hole and start slow, not fast is all. Goes right through. I like mine like that w/30G 5 wrap coil - awesome. I figured if I didn't would just buy another top cap. At least Jim sells those.

Are you doing this to influence flavor or to make more vapor?Does leaving the "fill screw" out accomplish any of that as well? You will have to excuse my ignorance as far as a genesis styled atty as the DID will be my first but,I do understand the logic with increasing the airflow to change many different things.I also understand that the cap only has so much space for volume of vapor.
