You know you can't resist the "Draw of the DiD". It's siren call is already pulling at your heart strings (or at least your purse strings) from across the ocean depths. Submit, or live with doubt and despair...;-)

It's the best fargen thing I ever got besides my omega. You can't go wrong. Easiest way to get a genisis. And I just love it. Put the resurrector carto To shame. And they are the best I ever used until the DID!

Argg, too many nice testimonials making it difficult for me to hold on to my limited cash. Could someone start criticizing it instead, please? Otherwise I would have to let go and buy the DID. :(

I would say the DID is just too versatile a device. I've been using them with SS mesh for a few weeks and then today I got the "fiddle" bug. I've been wanting to try a cotton wick and made my first one today. OMG. The flavor was the best I have ever experienced in 2 years of vaping, the TH and vapor fantastic. I re-wicked all 5 of my DIDs with cotton and I'm in vaping ecstasy.

I have been wanting to try cotton. Where did you get it from?

I have some 100% cotton squares for removing make-up that I cut to about 1/2 cm wide then rolled between my fingers until about 1.5-2mm wide. I used a 1mm needle (med or lg paper clip would work) to wrap my wick around the cotton then put the needle and coiled wick in my DID, attached the neg and pos then removed the needle. This left room for the cotton to expand in the coil once wet. I wet the cotton with the juice I would be using then test fired and checked ohms. Filled the tank and in vaping bliss. I made the cotton wicks long so I can just pull some up from the top of the coil to get a "fresh" wick. I chain vape is why I have 5 in rotation with different favors. The credit for this goes to the guys over in the Wick Safe vs Dangerous Thread! I've never posted there because I didn't have a RBA but I've followed the thread from day one as I found it very interesting.

I have been resisting temptation to increase the size of the hole. Now I am tempted. Worst case, I will need a new top cap. Should I get the drill bits online or the store?

Come on Kick you know you want to. You have 4 DID's you can do it. Go to HomeDepot and get the DeWalt split point titanium bits - you get two for around 3.00 Split point reduces walking.

I posted thiss in the other thread as well. I am very much interested in seeing some close up pics of fresh wick and used ones, if you could post some.

Also, how long do you use one of these wicks before you change them. I am a chain vaper.

Guess I need to try something else for a wick also. I have tried everything with this mesh and have yet to get one good vape out of my DID. All I kept hearing was how easy it was. Guess that applies to everyone but me. Not willing to be beat this time though. So I just give it a rest for a day or two then try again. I had about 6' of wire when I started. I have like 2' left. On my third mesh wick.

I can get this thing cooking very well till I put the cap on. Then its like 3ohm's at 2.5v. Nothing I do changes that.

Is your wick too long and sticking over the brass nuts? If so, when you screw the cap on,the wick will get crushed and you will see what you are seeing.
Crop the wick at the height of the brass nuts or less.

Check one more thing. Make sure the airhole is right in front of the wick when screwed on. Perhaps its not.

Its never been taller then the post and I use an o-ring to line the hole up. Not touching the bottom. Tried with 0,1,2,3, nuts. Wick sort of tight in the hole. Loose in the hole. Took it back out and burnt more juice in. I oxidized one coil so much that it peeled like a banana. Folded edges of wick. I can get a nice even glowing coil that's killing the juice, But cap goes on and its over. I am about make a YT video.

Thanks for the help. I use one of the extra O-rings to line the hole up. Its hard to see it so I just center my finger nail then put the cap on so its lined up.

ok. Read through most of the "Wick Materials : Safe and dangerous" thread and decided to make a cotton coil. I used the cotton ball method that plerskine used. Wrapped it around a small syringe after rolling it between my fingers. got 4 wraps of 32G kanthal around it and then inserted the wick end into the tank and then connected the wires to the 2 poles.

Added a few drops of juice to see if it works and it did. 1.8 ohms @ 3.7V on a provari. Now added more juice to the tank and waited for the wick to saturate. That happened in a couple of minutes and put the cap on and gave it a few toots. Initially got a bit of cotton taste for about 8-10 puffs. Then pure taste of the juice and lots and lots of vapor. This will work great :)

Initial observations :
1) The wick needs a bit of rigidity. Probably modify it with a stainless steel mesh bottom(for the part that enters the tank). This will keep the cotton fibers together and will prevent it unraveling in the tank. Currently in one hour of vaping it's holding together, but we'll have to see how it holds up.
2) With cotton, no shorts whatsoever.
3) Cotton surprisingly is not burning or discoloring. It got the light caramel color of the juice but the parts where the coil touches is not burned.
4) Flavor is pure after the initial soaking time.
5)Need to try wrapping the coil around a drill bit or something first and then pulling the cotton wick through it. That might be easier than the needle technique.

Well worth a try. Got to watch Wimbledon finals tomorrow and then I have a match to play. Will tinker more after.

Just as I've given in, all of sudden it's out of stock. Anyone knows when it is going to be available?

@Striker.... reading your posts is painful man, so I can guess how it must be for you. As suggested by kickserve, if putting on your cap changes the game then perhaps follow the symptoms to the cure eh?

Get yourself a clear tank and try again. A gut feeling tells me your wick IS touching the your tank (bottom or sides ) and/or getting jammed between the cap and the base, or, somehow moving within your setup to give you the pain the .... experience you're getting.

I have three DIDs, all with different coil/wick setups for different PG/VG mixes and they all vape perfectly, flavour and vapour (both UK spellings :) and DID require a certain amount of 'fiddling'.

Okay, on a very, very PERSONAL note, I've read a lot of posts regarding solutions to isolate the wick from the body, unoxidised wicks and the like and I'm at a loss as to why the giants of the industry (Jim being tallest in this instance, Scott being a close second and of course, the original French designer who gifted us this method) have not suggested these methods as refinements to improve an pretty perfect design. Ease of setup is an argument, valid for beginners I guess, but persevering with the 'fiddle' method WILL get you the desired result, trust me.

Your wick is the weakest link in the chain. Even the very best of glowing coils can't deal with a poorly oxidsed wick. The combination of a liquid with electrickery :)-) requires a fine balance to achieve the results we seek. Perseverance is the order of the day, although a high frustration level is understandable when all around you are singing loud in the choir.

Just a very PERSONAL ramble.....

Peace
