New Genesis type atomizer by DID!

Spw11, my compliments...outstanding photo of a very elegant device. I'm truly a sucker for birdseye maple; it adorns many of my guitar necks. Don't give up on the DID. It won't give up on you. Been there, done that, used up all the included wire thru inexperience and had to wait 2 weeks for more. In the end it was all worth it.

Thanks fuzzione...... I love this wood too. I'm not giving up! I'm pretty sure it is operator error at this point. I've got 200' of kanthol coming to get myself through the learning curve!

Chances are it's an oxidization issue. Unless you want to power through it and just vape your current coil in hopes that it just breaks itself in (which is sometimes possible), I'd just pull out the current wick and coil you have currently, torch the wick (move the flame over the mesh for a full 30-45 seconds, don't quench), let it cool for a few seconds, wet it and do a single juice burn with a cigarette lighter, reinstall the wick, and then give a go at the cigarette paper trick.

That's a truly beautiful Phidias by the way! I myself have a rosewood/ebony with the extra paneling on the back, but it doesn't get used as much as it deserves.

Tanked, Kicked, Phid wa/ DID...... Used up just about every bit of my kanthol trying to get a coil that didn't pop. Finaly got one that works... sorta. Waiting for more kanthol before I try and improve what I've got.

Anyway, I got the first bad thing about the DID. Honestly, it's an amazing device if it took me so long to figure out ONE bad thing (the airhole size is NOT a bad thing, it's matter of preference, I think).

Those nuts... Yeah, we're back at those nuts... They have a tendency to... screw around. Anybody has this issue?

So screwing and unscrewing the DID actually can lead to either or both the top and bottommost nut loosening up. The former results in coil losing contact, while the latter can lead to the center pin moving. It's not as bad as it sounds, just small movements, but it did result in a short for me. On the upside, it was really easy to fix the coil once I figured out what happened.

Then it had a burnt taste so I did the lorderos trick and I glowed the coils and quenched them in water three times to get rid of that and it worked perfectly just as expected.

Just sharing, I hope you don't run into this issue, but be mindful that those nuts may be the problem if you have a sudden short or something else going wrong.

I'm getting a little something out of it now. I know it's not up to it's potential output though. When I get my back-up kanthol in I'll start dinkin' with it. Between this and my AYS I should be getting plenty of practice.......

Just get an extra set & use 4 instead of 3. 4 works out to a perfect height for the + connection & the top brass nut snugs down with no issues.

Elfstone, if you examine your nuts carefully.....you will notice they have different mating surfaces. One surface is smooth and flat while the other has a 'well' that is concave. Try using the concave surfaces as the actual mating surfaces. The knurling protrudes slightly on this side, creating more friction on what it's touching thereby locking into place better. Worked for me.

Thanks to both. I didn't notice the different surfaces (and I won't touch the coil right now, it works too well) and I didn't think to use 4 nuts - I do have a spare set, though. I love this forum!

Last year at our montreal's vape meeting we used a grand reo with 2 stack battery at 8 volts, put a Line SS on it at around 2 ohms and powered it on, no fire, but you clearly see lots of very tiny drops of liquid shooting out of it at the top like a firework, nobody vape it, was crazy but beautiful at the same time

Today, I found that 1/8" heat-shrink tube (unheated) fits perfectly through the wick hole. I used this realization to assist the install of some cotton cheesecloth as the wick. Basically, I straightened and folded, in half, a paperclip. I cut a strip of cheesecloth 3/4" wide x 3" long. I secured it in the bend of the modified paperclip, then ran it through the heat-shrink tube. After that I wrapped a coil on the outside of the tube. I inserted the tube with wick and coil into the hole, fastened the +&-, arranged the coil how I wanted, then by using the allen wrench, pushed the wick out of the tube while removing the tube from the DID. When this was done, I fluffed the cotton to contact all coil surfaces. This method helps me have an alternative if the SS mesh doesn't wanna cooperate. The flavor and wicking is really pretty good! I know alot of people are stuck on SS being "The Healthiest Wick", but IMO what was it we use before PVs? Cigarettes?. Now we're health nuts all of a sudden? My concerns with the cotton are miniscule. Once the wick is soaked, I'm not breathing any fibers.

Edit: cheesecloth was boiled prior to assembly and heatshrink was cut to fit between bottom of barrel to top of + post. Cheesecloth was cut to size after fed into the tube.
