oh god, I just mindlessly added a juice and cracked my tube :(

Jim, sent a question via the website's contact list about ordering more and have them combine ship with my DID shorty.

Need to stock up on them just in case I do another bonehead move like this...

juice in question: Ms T's strawberry lemonade... I need to memorize that list...

Ok, for all who are interested here is a list from UKV for known juices that cracked the Orion poly tanks

Sour flavors
Malic acid
Citrus acid
Cinnamon like "atomic cinnamon" types, not warm cinnamon like cinnamon coffee cake, this is okay
Wintergreen juice or flavoring
TPA ripe banana flavoring
TPA honeysuckle flavoring
TPA maraschino cherry flavoring
TPA cherry blossom flavoring
TPA root beer flavoring
Mrs. T's strawberry shortcake, snickerdoodle
KBV Hummingbird nectar
mimosa(because of the orange)
cola(because of cinnamon)?
Vapor Renu Teaberry, cherry vanilla (possibly most of their flavors)
Vapor Renu Mt. Dew baha blast and Strawberry limeade
Oil based/e liquid that contains essential oils, when mixed with pg/vg, creates esters which will crack plastics
E liquids that contain triacetin, used in vg liquids to carry flavor more effectively
Vapalicious Gooey Butter Cake
Nutmeg
Clove oil
Mt. Dew flavoring
TPA Cinnamon Danish flavoring
Sassafras
Rawrvapor Hawaii Sunrise
TPA Vanilla Custard flavoring
Tasty Vapor Cherry Cola
Vixen Vapor Rootbeer
TPA Pineapple flavoring
TPA Vanilla Bean Ice Cream flavoring
Vaporgod Licorice
VAL Goddess
VermillionRiver e juic

All over the place
I like sweet flavors more now in the DID, I went from 24 nic to 12 nic when I started using genisis. Flavors I didnt think were that awesome, now are in the DID. I just dont care that much for my tobacs in it. I do however use my tobacs in my other rba's.

Uh oh...I seriously have virtually all tobacco vapes! I think I have a couple non-tobaccos somewhere. I am thinking that HHV's tobaccos may work since they are on the fairer side of tobacco. Oh well, it doesn't matter too much, because all of this takes some figuring, even down to the juice.

A ground is a ground. Only concern I'd have is if would do any damage to the threads. That and would be difficult to nudge a hot spot if one shows up. Nice "MacGyver" fix, one to remember for when whilst out-and-about.

Thanks, I just fixed it, though - turns out there was more than enough wire to catch it under the screw. But I did have any keys with me, and I find it incredibly difficult to see / maneuver these small wires. I'm not blind, lol, but the way my prescription is - I can't see up close with my glasses and without my glasses everything is kinda blurry regardless of distance...

Pretty immediately (maybe 5-10 vape), what I am not sure of is if I had weakened it before and just didn't notice... I am pretty sure i had put this juice in before, but looking at pics I took last night, I don't see any issue with the tube.

Very odd. Although I have not yet received my Kir clear tanks for the DID I do have his clears on the other 2 Kir Fanis tanks I have...the Tripolitis and Trap. I put both lemonade and cinammon juices in those with no ill-effects. In fact, the juice containing cinammon has been sitting in that tank for over a week now. I undertand he uses the same material on all these clear tanks. I guess YMMV.

So I made a new coil keeping the wraps much closer together and all three glowed at the same time from the get go. Dry burned a good five times increasing the duration each time and spilling PG/VG on it... Used a good strong honey tobacco and a little more throat hit but still think something is missing from the equation. Id much rather buy another DID than a provari or something VV but I am thinking higher voltage is probably the answer... I believe I'm vaping around 11 watts- about 1.7 ohms and 4.2 volts...

I did notice after vaping a bit of this tank, I dry burned again to see if they were still all even... Again the top one started to glow first followed by the rest but the vape seemed the same as at the beginning... Its possible it was because there was still some juice toward the bottom so it didnt glow at first...

I think that dry burn tests will only get you so far in ascertaining actual vaping performance. Each parameter be it mesh gauge, thickness, number of coils, spacing of coils, voltage, even type of juice...they are infinitely configurable to individual tastes and vaping styles. Keep vaping while adjusting is my recommendation; for when you get something really good going you will know it and this helps narrow down the variables for the next time you make a coil/wick or adjust something. The wick and coil also need some time to settle in while actually vaping for optimum performance. Sounds to me as though something is still off in your setup so keep adjusting and vaping. You will eventually find the sweet spot.

Know however that the DID is indeed capable of producing an extremely satisfying vape with tons of vapour, flavour and TH. Getting there is 1/2 the fun :) I've had most satisfying results from as low as 3.3v on a vmax with a 1.9 coil so it is not necessarily the case that more voltage will equate to a better vape or one with more TH.

One thing I discovered about hot spots....sometimes you can't even see them depending on how gunked your coils are, but a sign that something is wrong is when your vapour is spitting out sideways from your wick at a 90 degree angle, in a pronounced jet. That's a hot spot even though you may not see the coil glowing red. Adjust it. The way I discovered this is the flavour was off. When I eliminated the 'jet' it was spot on again.

Back from vacation. The DID ended up being more like dead weight. I have it figured out after watching a YT video someone posted on it. The bottom nut was partially shorting on the negative screw. Took that off and its much better. I can tell it was shorting by the way the nut was discolored in the area where the screw was. Black as can be. So I am just using two nuts to hold the wire at the top. Has anyone brought this up while I was gone? If so what was the outcome?

The only time I got a short to the bottom nut was when I ran the bottom coil wrap between the post and the wick (I now wrap up at an angle to avoid). Does any juice condensate leak into the center post without the bottom nut on there?

I tried wrapping the coil like that too. Was also a no go for me. It does seep some. Whats worse is my PV has a floating pin with a spring under it so I cant tighten it to help with the small leak. Something needs to be done. Id just like to know if anyone has gone over this issue before I have to bother Jim about it. Its easy to tell it was shorting by looking at the nut. Once I the battery is done charging I will try to get a picture posted.

Hey Cloud, try wrapping from bottom screw to coil on the outside and not between the post and wick

Thanks, thats good to hear. Ill keep at it... Been fiddlin all day every day since Friday. I know my coils now start out good and completely even but even then my cartos hit harder. You may be right that somethings off... Good tip on the jets too.. I've seen that a few times.. Usually it just sizzles and pours off the top like in the videos.... I can even see each individual wrap is bubbling the same amount.

Just below the DID on the order page is a top cap, in the picture it shows the top connector for 28 euros. Anybody know if that includes both parts in the picture or just the top cap?

I don't know definitively, but they don't have a separate listing for the top connector for either the DID or the short DID that I see.

I'm assuming they go together since all the other parts are listed.

All you have to do is send it back to Jim, he will look it over and take care of it for you.

Here's a tip for those who can't get rid of shorts and hot spots. After burning and rolling your wick, don't quench it with juice yet, I found it easier to wrap a coils first (make sure you can rotate your wick inside your coil), then torch the wick where the coil is and quench it with couple drops of juice, then burn the juice off and repeat this 3 or 4 times. When installing your wick, make sure the top and bottom coils are evenly close to the wick like your middle ones. If it will be too far, you'll get hot spot, if too close - short. After installing my wick I dry burn it to see if everything's good, if not I rotate my wick a little bit and test it again untill everything is fine. Made a couple of good working wicks fast and easy already. Hope at least one person finds this helpful. Don't give up on your DID!
