Might be because I use a Mac instead of a PC.

Oh okay. Aw, that blows! Well, I can give you my formula for how to find the page numbers and such (this may be totally obvious to you): Whatever number you have your posts per page set to, divide the post number by posts per page e.g. post #1701 divided by 5 (for 5 posts per page) and that gives you 340.2. If the resulting answer has a decimal point, anything after the decimal point points to the next page, which would mean post#1701 would be on page 341. At the page numbers at the top of the screen, you can click next to the page number and type in the exact page you wish to jump to. FYI, I am fully aware of the fact that this is way more info than anyone would choose to use. LOL

CW, so does it take you to the page and just not the post, or does it do something all together screwy?

The link I posted above takes me right to it, so I'll stick with my bookmark.

Yeah too tight is short city, too loose is theoretically going to give harsh vapes I the coil is seeing too much air and able to get too hot. Not sure I've very experienced the latter though...

Do you get any friction when you insert your wicks ? Can you see the space between the coils and the wick ?

For my setup, coil more or less floats around wick, but yes there is friction on insertion. But it does not bite into wick. From my personal experience, to tight and it eventually bites through oxidation and shorts. I've never experienced to loose yet.

Sweet! :toast: I think a lot of people, though not all, read the first post (and maybe a couple more) and then say the hell with it , then jump to the last post! :) So at least if they stop by and see the first page, they can then see a link containing posts from many posters about The DID. That is awesome Jim! Thanks Classy!
I couldn't agree more.
Thanks Jim and Classy!!!!!!

P.S. The index on the first page works fine on my 40 per page, using FF.

Guys, I need a little help...

I am new to Genesis style and while I am waiting for my DID I bought a very cheap (aluminum) genesis style tank to start to practice with something.
It came with a premade mesh and coil but I had terrible burnt taste. I took my multimeter and shortly realized that the mesh had quite many hot spots (also the wire glow only between the mesh and the positive connector). I heated the mesh several times and tested again and it was great, no hotspots at all.

I put the wire (2.0 ohms) on and the whole glow so I thought it is fine. But when I started to vape I had the below issues:
- going above 4 volts started to give me burnt taste (again, 2 ohms is the wire and there are no hot spots!),
- below 4 volts vapor is ok and taste is ok (though not phenomenal) but minimum TH if at all.

What can be wrong here? do you have any ideas?

Thanks!

I've had intermittent taste issues when my wick touches the bottom of the tank. The coil seems fine, no visible hot spots, but I think there may be micro-shorts that actually conduct through the wick to the grounded tank base. Not sure if that's your issue, but simply lifting the wick a mm or 2 has helped. Theoretically the ideal is to have the wick completely isolated, but if the wick is made non-conductive (fully oxidized) it shouldn't be a problem.

Another possibility, you said it came with a pre-made wick. Did it have "primer" on it (like some regular attys ship with)?

Thank you...It's rough, but I am trying...it's so quiet here, I never realized how much I talked with him during the day !

So...question here....DID or Mini DID & why ?

I have a ProVape...not a ProVari

I think I am a Mini type person

Both :)

I personally like the extra capacity of the standard DID but am getting the mini too.
If you're first starting out with a Genesis style atomizer the standard DID may be a little easier to
work on until you cut your teeth. Slightly larger wick hole, a little more room, etc.

Very sorry to hear of your recent loss Classwife, I know very well how this feels like losing
a family member.

So I just DiD the cheesecloth wrap trick at the top for the coils to wrap around and all I can say is WOW !!! What a difference. Not 1 short, NO need for ANY adjusting, super fast, super easy, and the vapor and flavor production has increased by 35% atleast...for me anyway. I did 4 wraps with 30awg kanthal. Resistance readings are solid and not moving up/down by even .1 Ω.

I honestly thought this would be pointless or taste awful but I am impressed. I've been using it now for about 45 min. and it seems to be just getting better, I actually kinda choked due to the amount of thickness in the vapor. You would've thought I was spitting milk out of my mouth it's so thick and white. Now the throat hit is in the vapor density. I do have the top nuts as far up as they will go to give a better vortex in the cap and good back pressure.

Thanks for that graphic 1st hand report J! :)
Couldn't get to a store today but tomorrow for sure. I think someone mentioned Walmart for cheesecloth.
Did you follow the vid instructions precisely or improvise anything? For instance, I thought that perhaps leaving
the cotton strands longer might assist wicking even more?

Yep walmart for the cheesecloth..it comes in a clear plastic package in the fabric section against the outerwall by the heat reactive fiber cloth.

I pretty much followed it to the "T" ...I did however go thru and around the hole twice then started wrapping the top then went back down and thru to the bottom then snipped the ends to 1/8th".

I second this.
I still have yet to purchase my Mini, let alone try it out, but I assume it will be a little bit tighter space for working in. The original DID is just right, for my hands anyway, and I think I'm pretty average... just ask my hubby lol, he'll tell ya, "yeh, average".
I can't wait to get my Mini!!!

So sorry about the loss of your best friend, Classy.
It took me almost a year to stop talking to thin air after my old gal (dog) passed on. But the time will pass before you know it and the pain will lessen a little here and there. Don't be afraid to celebrate the good memories. That's what your best friend would have wanted... always be filled with love.
