Oh cool! I see the store has 150 more mini's in stock. The last I looked, they were down to 6 or 7. Hopefully I can pick up an extra mini before the 20th. If not, they're still worth the extra 10 bucks, so no sweat, but I do love to save whenever I can. Let's see.. if I buy, 10, that's like getting one free!

::: off to plead with hubby :::

I managed to set up my DID last night! TH is awesome (I will have to go down from 12mg to 6 or 9 :)), taste is unbeatable, but vapor production is legging behind.
One reason I thought of might be a wicking issue. Maybe I made the mesh too tight. I used 4x5 centimeters. Maybe it is too much. Scott uses 4x3 if I remember correctly but not sure.

Any of you had such issues? What would be the solution?

Thanks!

Thanks to a short introduction to DID vaping session with Fuzzione, I almost had to re-learn my vaping style to use the DID. It takes time for the coils to heat up and start to release those thick clouds of vapor. You have to fire it, take a primer puff or two BEFORE you take a nice long slow hit on the DID. That is when you will see the vapor clouds form. Yes, it seems excessive, but taking a regular toot is not going to provide you the results you desire.

Try it! :)

I'm not real experienced with genisis style. I have my did for two months. Like most I have read and watched as much stuff as I can.
Here's my 2 cents. The wick. Just burn the crap out of it. Even if you just have a lighter. Cut all the hairs off. That should be good enough. The paper and cotton are masking the other issues. The coil .
After I rap my coil. You will need to move the wire a little were the hot spots are twits the wick tighten the top nuts. Just move stuff around until it stops. No real formula. Once it gets coaked up its fine. I even clean my wick and coil with it all connected every few days with alcohol wipes. Then I coat it with some juice and have to move stuff around again. Works fine.
Personally I have never had the types of constant issues people complain about.
The coil and wick are a lot stronger then you think. Pull and tug at it.
I made the same mistakes like most people built it had a short. Then rebuilt it again. I finally realized it not that. You just need to fire it up look at it. If you have hot spots move stuff around until it stops. Let it cool for a few sec before moving it then fire again. Been using same set up for 2 weeks now. Before I was changing it when it got gummed up. I tried to clean it after 4 days instead for changing it. And I saw the light. Great unit. Love the did. I watched the video with the paper even after he did all that he had a short. He just moved stuff around and it stopped. Not to say it won't help. But IMO not needed.
Good luck.

Agree completely, only caveat, be careful in your tugging against the brass center pole. It is thin, and it can snap or bend if pressured to much.

If I did a 6 wrap with 32 awg my ohms would be at 3+. I get between 2.2 and 2.4 with a 4/3 wrap. Have been thinking of adding a wrap to increase my ohms and save battery life.

Checked my coil after reading what you wrote, made sure it was grounded correctly at the bottom, and it now measures out at 3.1.. YAY!! My first HV coil. Vaping at 5.0v for 8W of power. ;)

Thank you for putting that bug in my brain!

Guys, I read some of you refer to a fat wick. What is meant by that? How long the mesh should be to have a fat one?

Make it as fat as the hole. Wrap it around the Alan key. Should have a open center look at my vid. See the vapor coming out the wick.

I just noticed a layer of crud built up near the air intake hole on the inside of the top cap, presumably from the juice bubbling on the coils. Is this a normal phenomenon? It was almost blocking the air intake and the only reason I opened up the top cap was because I noticed that the draw got tighter.

Are we supposed to clean this off every now and again?

clean the top cap and have a look at it, some are reporting burrs inside when the hole is drilled. file it clean and your good to go.

Hdzrtvap, this is more of a juice residue, almost like a gunking up of the coils on a carto. It's dark, and almost burnt looking..

Like I said, it almost looks like juice spatter off the coils, as it's heated.

I've seen this too. Figured juice is splattering and then because the hole is close to wick it's cooking on the wall. I wipe mine out every few fills. Other thing that helps, I open my air hole to 1/16th (stock I think is 3/64).
