Got up to get my son on the bus and the bus driver was over 10 minutes early. What I dont get is how are you going to come early and leave without the kid? Tard said to be waiting 5 minutes early. So here we are running down the driveway as he is driving off cause we have so many trees you cant see the road. Just caught him. Stupidity should be a crime. Now watch I will be out 15 minutes early tomorrow and he will be 10 minutes late.

With only 3-5 hours of sleep per night the DID is getting overworked

I love my DID but I think I could do better. My fault. Could someone that is really really happy with everything answer the following:

What guage Kanthal do you use? I use 32 awg and a 4/4 wrap 2.2 ohm(anticlockwise around the wick then clockwise around the top nuts) or 30 awg 5/5 or 6/6 gives me 1.8 and 2.0 ohm both will have an ohm creep up of 0.2 ohms after a couple of days as the coil gets broken in

Did you drill a larger hole in the top? No I find the standard hole perfect the1mm hole was a little too tight
What is the width of the mesh that you use? I use 270 mesh 4-5cm 13/4" - 2" with large center hole, and last night tried RW's thin wick with large center hole using 400 mesh 3/4" and that was great as well
How many wraps do you do? Answered above
Do you brass or stainless steel nuts? Brass until stainless available and with give stainless a try. Brass works really well
What percentage of PG/VG do you use? 50/50 or some 70/30
Do you use the cig paper trick to put the wire on or drill bit or nothing? Nothing I wrap straight on the coil. I do however keep a 14ga needle in the which when I wrap the 3/4" mesh as I do not do a cold water quench so the wick is soft.

thanks Mike N
You will probably get different answers from everyone because I think we all have our favorite methods.
I typically vape at 4.7 volts BT when I used the 3/4" mesh I have to drop to 3.9 volts because the coil heats really fast....I can only attribute this to less heat being transferred to the thicker wick and therefore the juice heating quicker.

Word up! Now that would be the ultimate! A 14500 hybrid with the mini's vapor chamber, a 18650/18350 dual tube setup for the standard DID, and a 26650 hybrid to rule them all! Am I the only one who's desperate for a 26650 hybrid? Hell, I'd kill for a 26650 510 mechanical mod!

Would have to have some kind d of mechanical action at the top. The bottom buttons with large battery are challenging for my dainty little hands.

Thanks. I am embarrassed to say that I don't know how to make my webcam work. Will have to have my wife help me with that. All I use is a digital camera and don't know if they can be used as a webcam. I will work on getting the Orion set back up and work on the webcam thing in the mean time. Something has to give.

Went to the lowes and they said they don't have a nut as small as the one used on the Orion so I can rid myself of the stupid spring. How nice of lowes to come into town and put all the mom and pop hardware stores out. Its hard find help that's worth a dam at lowes. I think you said the DID brass works on the Orion though. Will have to give that a shot when I order my Mini.
Go to a store like hobby lobby and look in the racing car section. I lost a washer when I was dismantling mine ....the spring sprung before I could get the top nut on and that is where I found replacements. Bending the washer top up and bottom down helps to make a channel for the wire.

You should try doing that in -10 to -20*C winters here in Toronto. You walk over to the bus-stop 5 mins before your bus only to find out the bus came by 10 minutes early and left. Next bus 20 minutes later. It doesn't matter how well you're wrapped up, you still FREEEZE!!

Hobby Lobby? We dont have stores like that around here. I got a 20 pack of nuts coming from ebay. My 2.1 has smaller washers then the v2 did. Think the guy before me or the guy before him put smaller ones on it. Think I was the first to do the bent washer. Well that I know of. Worked well for getting the wire started.

Oh boy that does sound uncomfortable. I came from California to Kansas City when I was 14. Waiting on the bus back then was hell. Wind chill was even worse. Its not near as cold on average today though. That and I moved 5 hours South 3 years ago, so we see some snow but not much. Last year we seen even less then normal. Like less then an inch total.

I bet you see a lot more outboard engines on the boats in Canada?

Not sure if this was done already, but I was able to control air flow with the top brass nut that is up agains the drip tip base.

I really didn't want to dril or try to plug up the air hole on my DID. Spent to much money on that pice of art to do that.

Also the word awful in the pic is really AWG, typo correction.

Did you drill a larger hole in the top? No I find the standard hole is just fine
What is the width of the mesh that you use? So far, just the regular 1/2 cut from the mesh Jim provides. Will try the double wicks later. (tried once & it was great, but I didn't do it quite right and will try again correctly next time).
How many wraps do you do? 3/2[/COLOR]
Do you brass or stainless steel nuts? Brass until stainless available and will give stainless a try. Brass works exceptionally well
What percentage of PG/VG do you use? 80/20v and 50/50
Do you use the cig paper trick to put the wire on or drill bit or nothing? First wrap ever, I used the paper. My 2nd try, I didn't. My 3rd try, I will again.
thanks Mike N You're welcome. :)

Holy Toledo, using up some aged juice in my trusty did today that has higher nic level, I was use to, before I found the DID. Feels like the old days when I use to smoke other things ;) Heck of a buzz. The precision of the did still amazes me. I tried a thin wall ss mesh like RW described in his recent vid. Quick jack frost, paperclip roll, soak in a bit of peach juice, wrapped a 2/3 coil, ohm out at stable 2.1, and very good. I think I am getting a bit more robust taste then with my traditional fat wicks. Wicking action is very good. I can literally watch the bubbles from the bottom of the wick as I vape. Have gone to Pyrex drip tip, like the clean taste of glass. Other than that, its a beautiful day. Birds are singing a symphony outside the window, dog is curled up at my feet, (I tuckered him out with a long walk and bath today), My DID is withing easy reach and the coffee is fresh, ain't life grand!!

I was able to control air flow with the brass nut. If it sits higher to the driptip base. The air flow is decrease. And the opposite happen when u turn the nut the other way. Also love my DID on my chrome provari. The mini has a rainbow rebuildable atomizer.

Very nice.

Edit - Your pic's never came up ??

Man, Rick (W), at first the wick I made following your method was not working for me. But I put it back in my DID today and wrapped a 1ohm coil on it... and now I can't stop vaping on it. :) Awesome vapor and flavor. Thanks!

I'm going to have to spend next month's vape budget on a bunch of 18650s and a new charger, because I can't get mine charged fast enough to keep up.

I'm waiting on some 30 gauge Kanthal A-1, and I'm pretty excited to drain some batteries with that, too.
