Hmm, SS is more electrically resistive, but resistance is a product of length and this is a short distance. SS is less thermally conductive and I'd rather keep heat on the coil than in the post. SS is stronger and I've already snapped one center post. Tall (finger ready) hardware and I've already lost 1 allen key. Solid spacer on center post and I've had little nuts come loose. T304/316 food/medical grade SS, more resistance to corrosion. This is a preference folks just like getting a Roushe S/C on the Stang, V&H pipes for the HD or a Crimson Trace on the Sig. Not necessary, but very cool...

IMHO, I like continual improvement on design and engineering and this seems like Jim made some improvements to me.

I certainly understand dspin. My personal reason for ordering the SS parts is due to the fact that I run all 5 (soon to be 6) of my DIDs all day every day and they are the only attys I use now. Since some folks have had their brass center pins break I decided to get the SS to have for replacements in hopes they will be stronger. I hope I won't see too much difference in conductivity- miriamWTH says she didn't with hers so heres hoping :) Patti
I was looking at the photo album and saw that you had several DID's as well
I have 6 about to be 7 when the mini arrives.
Glad to see that there are other DID-aholics out here.
I think I am through buying DID'S unless Jim comes out with a hybrid. I think 7 flavors running at a time should be plenty.
My inventory also consists of:
2 sheets 400 mesh
2 sheets 325 mesh
3 sheets 270 mesh
2 sheets of mystery mesh
30ft silica rope
400 ft 32 awg kanthal
200 ft 30 awg kanthal
200 ft 33 awg kanthal
120 DIY flavors
250 ml 60 mg/ml nic concentrate

If ecigs are ever banned I should be good for life.

I thought his thin wall is suppose to be still fat. his video he just happened to rolled a thinner (diameter) one.

I think I was just making very thick fat double wick wraps, ohm at 3.0 or higher, using kanthal 32, 2/3 wrap, and literally stuffing into wick hole. They worked well, but now using the thinner, less mesh wick, seems to be working just as well, and maybe delivering a bit more taste. I seem to have more room, and my ohm is now 2.2. I don't know, just experimenting. I'll tell you what though, my coil methods have sure improved. I can whip one of these out in no time.

Congrats to all those that wanted ss. I think it is very much in line with Jim providing his customers options that keeps so many faithful to him. I don't, however, see why is it such an issue of contention. People are grown up and can make their own informed decisions about what they want and in Jim's case, what he can offer. It's simple: if you don't want ss, don't buy it; if you do want it, get it. We all have different objectives. If ss won't work as well as brass, then that will be discovered. :2c:

Ya, it's weird. I don't know what was wrong initially but I just couldn't get it right, but I don't feel I am doing anything "magical" now, but my coils are all very good... It's wire around a round mesh... but the last few that I've built, I do it real fast, no "do overs" and no hot spot, especially near the nuts which was my bane previously... I guess experience really just help...

I am nowhere near experienced as you, but by my 4th coil, I couldn't believe how difficult it wasn't. My first one was as bad as a blooper reel of coil making. It's like anything I guess, most of the things I know how to do (well) took time, practice and patience.

I never will break even but I love vaping. The rebuild ables make much more sense than cartos and tanks (although I have a load of phiniac tanks as well), they are also fun to mess with.
I have 1 more custom mod being made for me and another orion coming up soon.
Need to quit shopping.
I have a second job and the money I make doing that supports my vaping addiction so thankfully my kids don't have to starve.
overall....WOW !!!!

New to the forum, but not to vapin' (been a lurker for ages)... I have a whole load of stuff, wire, mesh, mods, I mix my own juices, even do some of my own flavour extractions.... thought it was about time to get one of these DID's, so placed an order yesterday.

Today there is an upgrade path to full SS, but I think I'll stick with brass/bronze inards, it has been proven to work well!

Being in the UK I think shipping will be resonably quick (hope).

Still about 40 available on his site if anyone wants one/another.... I think they will go fast!

Welcome to the forum.
You will love the DID. Wonderful build quality and Jim is wonderfully attentive to our needs. I also love that spare parts are so freely available on his web site.

Thanks, I have lurked for a long time, and read all 492 pages of this thread, and many others..... Yes I agree, Jim is a good supplier from all I have seen and read.

As it should be everywhere, but unfortunatley the way of the world is that it is more uncommon to obtain A1 service nowadays. (Do I sound like an Old gezzer ?) lol
