What is a good item to wrap the wick around so I can get the correct circumference to fill the wick opening in the regular DID. From the videos, it seems like that is a good way to roll the wick, oxidize it, and wrap the coils using the rolling paper method.

Syringe/allen wrench that's included/paper clip/whatever you have that works

it's not an exact science... Ppl cut the mesh by eyeballing it, sometimes you end up rolling it tighter/trimming because it is too much, sometime you just go with a thinner wall.

"All orders of the mini DID will be updated and I mean all the orders from the first one!"

What is Jim referring too? Is he saying he'll be sending something to the folks who pre-ordered the Mini when they were first announced? Sorry for being thick-headed, just curious what he's talking about :)

I think he is sending them out.. I ordered mine in the 8th and he shipped out today.. :) So looks like 2 weeks more and I will have it.. :)

I know this might LOOK like a drill bit set, but it's actually a Precision rba Coil/Mesh Rolling Set!:p

I’m about to join the DID revolution, thanks Jim. I ordered the standard last week and it shipped out today. I’ve been reading and watching everything I can find about the DID, thanks for all the great tips and tricks. I know It will make it much easier to get started, this will be my first genesis atomizer. I’ve got all my supplies waiting for the DID, looking forward to a new way of vaping. Now just waiting on the mailman and yes the waiting is the hardest part.

Wow, finally got the 30awg ka1.

Started with a 2/3 wrap on a thin/fat wick and it damn near made my head explode. I consider myself fairly rough and tumble, but a 0.9ohm coil on that wick (18mg/100%VG@3.2v) lead to an immediate nic headache (fair warning!). I decided to try a 3/4 and crushed the wick (my fault). Long story short(er), new thin/fat wick with 30awg 3/4 wrap measuring in at 1.2ohm is really nice. Tons of vapor, tons of flavor and nicely warm.

Pretty tough stuff... It's definitely thicker wire and a bit more rigid which gave me some issues trying to get the right tension (how I crushed my old wick). Might just be my two left thumbs, but worked great wrapping on my Home Depot pick-tool and then twisting in the wick (with a nail still in it so it didn't collapse).

Strangely, at 0.9ohm my VV Gripper consistently faulted with "Lo" while the ProvariV2 seemed to handle it just fine. Not sure why since the PV2 has a 3.5amp switch and the Gripper is supposed to be 4.0amp and both were set down to 3.0v.

I don't trust the advertised 4A C rating on the gripper. If you factor in the price and the fact that it's a mass produced product of Chinese origin, then I'd bet my DID that the voltage under load drops off pretty drastically when you exceed 2.5A.

The 3.5 amp current rating on the provari doesn't suit my vaping needs, so I'd stro to angly suggest throwing it on a mechanical mod.

Huh. This is interesting.. I can't get the Did to hit hard enough for me on an 18650 mechanical even at 4.2 volts and a 3 coil 1.5ish... The provari however I can crank up to around 5 at that resistance... the 3.5 amp limit alows a 2ohm at 6 volts... The v1 prov I didn't bother with at only 2.5 limit amps... Given I am still learning... A kick or stacked batteries may be a different story. Of course you could always try to wrap a 1ohm but I haven't achieved that...

Ahh, well then you should try some 30 or even 28g kanthal! I always do a 3 wrap coil, which depending on the diameter of the wick, usually meters out between 0.7 and 0.9Ω. With the DID, I consistently get a resistance of 0.85Ω, and with the mini, the last 3 coils I've made have all metered in at exactly 0.80Ω.

The DID is working extremely well on my Vmax. 5a (advertised) limit, stacked with PWM. It seems to be more sensitive to shorts, likely due to the high spikes during its PWM cycles, however once dialed in this is an impressive combo. Might be an alternative for those seeking for more oomph. They're fairly inexpensive now if you look around for deals, i.e. $70-80.
