@rwechsler, I completely missed the part where you got a Caravella. Congrats, those things are beautiful!!

Thank you! Unfortunately, it's patiently waiting for me in my PO box, but I'll have it in hand this time next week :D
And after see the photos that Dspin posted of his, I put myself on the list for a second one!

It's a painting I made of my Irish Woolfhound, Armellon, who sadly I had to let go last year.
Most kind and sweet caracter I've ever met, an honor to have had him in my life...
I miss him like no other, and like to have him with me when I explore new horizons. :)

What kind of dog is Ollie. From the looks it's an Irish too!!!
(heart is jumping ;-) )
Same big black corck...
That's a painting? It's really quite beautiful, Brigit. You and Mr.Mann should have a vaper/painter show (his avatar is one of his pieces, too). I see the DID attracts all kinds of sensitive, creative people. Which isn't really a surprise. :)

Ever since I posted my DID review (which features the polished P+18500 I used to own), I've been getting quite a few PMs regarding buffing and polishing SS mods, so I put together this guide that I've been sending as replies, so I guess I'll post it here for everyone to have access to. It's not much, though it's more than enough to get started. If you really want to get into polishing/refinishing ss mods, I highly suggest going on youtube and watching videos of professionals at work and then refining your cutting/polishing techniques with practice.

You're going to need a drill and something to clamp it down with, but I'm assuming you have those two things, so I won't send links.

x2 Arbor Adapter - Buffing Adapters - Buffing/Polishing - Caswell Inc
x1 White Buffing Compound Large - Standard Buffing Compounds - Buffing/Polishing - Caswell Inc
x1 Jeweler's Rouge Large - Standard Buffing Compounds - Buffing/Polishing - Caswell Inc
x2 Canton Flannel Wheel 6" x 1/2" - Caswell Inc
x2 Spiral Sewn Cotton Wheel - 6" x 1/2" - Caswell Inc
x1 http://www.caswellplating.com/buffi...ke/wheel-rake-complete-unit-handle-teeth.html

Ok, so I usually buff my mods in 2 (sometimes 3) stages. I start with the spiral sewn cotton wheels with jewler's rouge (red compound) for the initial refinish (to get an scratches out or to strip a media blasted finish), and then I use the canton flannel wheels with white compound for the final mirror finish. I suggest you go on youtube and look up buffing instructional videos, as they'll show you how much and how often to apply the compound, cutting/wiping techniques, and everything else you'll need to know.

Sorry to bring this back up...but I'm riled.

I have just been over at another forum I sometimes frequent and I'm disgusted...there are long standing members recommending and doing reviews of DID knock-off's...needless to say I spoke up.

Pm me a link Harmudge, I'd love to put in my 2 cents (or more!)

Harmudge, If that thread you refer to was posted here then I would agree..... as this is JIMS DID thread.

BUT, it was not (different thread on a different site), and I think you will find that far from that referenced thread recommending people to buy alternative cheap knock off Chinese copies of the DID.... It is (or has developed into) a Genesis Atty Help Thread, members (like myself) are just trying to help other Genesis type atty users, regardless of their make. But I would not do it here.... this is Jims thread for DID.

I personally have and use only DID for my Genesis type atties, but that does not preclude or stop me being able to try and help other vapers, who may by personal circumstance, be less fortunate than ourselves and not able to own a DID.

Or, should I only offer advice to people who own a DID coupled with a Cube18650+ Kicked mod, as that is my current preferenc of unit..... No, I am not as petty minded....

To my way of thinking, helping owners of any other type of Genesis atty get a good vape, by way of offering coil and wick tips etc, may just enhance their enjoyment enough to appreciate the benefit of that "type" of atty, therby convincing them to decide to buy an original DID, and experience the vape quality and exceptional build quality of an original DID themselves.

IMHO, it's nice to help other vapers, after all, we are all on the same journey, even if we take a different route to get there.
