just got mine. freakin rippps! mine came with 2 thicknesses of kanthal. i like the thicker one, but the site says it only comes with 1 thickness.

great little device, took a few weeks to get here, but it vapes like a dream. i watched scott bonner's reveiw like 10 times.

started using it on a lava tube, but i got it on an ego c twist right now and it rules around 4v.

Not to hijack this from Uma, but I just ordered my 500 from here (scroll down the page after clicking link): The Mesh Company (Warrington) Ltd #400 Super Fine Filtration Mesh - 25 Micron
Last order I placed through them was on a Monday. I received the package the following Monday (8 days). This doesn't appear to get hung in customs like normal "packages" probably because it's an envelope.

My :2c:
Thanks Yankee!!
I never did make it over there yet... too many stops along the way and ran out of time and energy. With the link freshly handy, I'll try again today. But the good news is, I now have a multi-meter from Amazon on the way. When it gets here, how do I test the mesh with it? Red (positive) clip touches the mesh, right? What does the black (negative) clip touch? Oh! and where do I put the dial?

Right on!! Glad you've got it going and are enjoying it. I haven't set mine down since it arrived. It's so nice not hurting from occasional dry hits like I had with other setups.
haha, I think I watched his video at least that many times too.

Ok this is what I've learned. Instead of sleeping. Oxidizing takes time. By heating the wick we allow o2 to combine with the metal quicker. Or in an accelerated manner. So it not just about getting the wick hot. You need to keep it at temp for a while. This give the O2 time to combine and makes the layer thicker. So keep it a a red not bright red for some time. I say at least a minute let it cool and look at it. Your wanting a brown color

Article: Heat tint (temper) colours on stainless steel surfaces heated in air

I saw the colors and was wondering about what they mean.
Couldn't find it, so I'm very happy with your 'sleepless' help!
Might be it is just science, but it was you who took the effort to find out and share it with us :2cool:
So, thanks for this research!

anyone know why the flavor is muted on my DID mini?

i've been using it with a 2.0ohm 4/5 wrap coil.. with my daily vape which i'm very familiar with the flavor.. it's muted.. given my daily vape is a mild flavored vape even on other devices.. on the DID it almost tastes like nothing..

i've tried stronger flavored juices where i can taste the flavor but i'm assuming its because the flavor is strong to start with.. so the DID is muting a bit of flavor which turns my all day vape into a no taste vape..

what could be the issue.. there are no shorts.. no metallic taste and no burn issues.. plumes of vapor.. th is pretty decent too...

Personally I've found that the DID affects juice differently than atomizers or cartos. My all day vape before was OMFG tobacco but I don't get the same taste with the DID. If I mix it with something sweeter, its a bit better but overall juices I loved before are just so so in the DID and ones I wasn't keen on before I like better. With the DID. Another guy one here was saying he can't do tobaccos with a genny...I can't figure out the mechanics of it all but I have experienced some of the same issues... You kind of have to try juices all over again with the DID I feel.. The grade of wick maybe might have something to do with it too... try 325, 400, and 500... check for soot or crumbliness on the wick.

you sure its wicking enough? Should see bubbles or almost a foaminess between the coils when u hit the button with the cap off...

I think MisterCombo hit the nail on the head here. Some juices just taste differently when vaped in a genesis atomizer. I find that my tobaccos juices taste much crisper and cleaner in my genis, almost to a fault. The same goes for COV butterscotch and BWB MT, both of which I love in my Odys but don't entirely care for in my genis. If the flavor is all there, but just different, I'd say it's a matter of different tastes in different atomizers. While if the flavor is straight up muted, then your issue probably resides in your wick/coil, in which case I'd suggest retorching your wick and wrapping a fresh coil.

At least I nailed something on the head LOL.. I do know my business, I had better when I've been at it this long... Just had a couple bad DID days.... 4 hours with this coil and goin strong!

Mine mutes when it needs reTorching, due to too much gunk buildup. Sometimes a dry burn is all it requires, but other times I have to completely remove the wick, dry burn the coils, retorch the wick, reSeason the wick, and voila.

Another trick is to try the unoxidized mesh rolled up inside an oxidized mesh wick.

The Spheroid is a good one for the tobacco flavors. As much as I hate saying it, in Jim's thread, it's true and it's not like genny people only ever have just one type of genny ever. Different juices just require different wick systems/attys.

The best antidote for muted flavors though, is Pink Spot Vapors G ......... which stands for grape ....... spot. Outtathisworld delicious in a genny. AltCig Irish Cream is perfect too, as is their Caramel Cappuchino.
I never much cared for the PSV gS before, but dang is it awesome in the DID!

I got a response from sagewood glass about the Pyrex tanks

It's not a bother at all!. I am so surprised to hear of a rude response from Phiniac!. Anyhow, this is actually a pretty common request, but unfortunately we haven't developed tanks for DID's yet.. We'd be happy to give it a shot, but the two main problems we have are that A) we don't own a DID for R&D testing, and B) the size variation tolerance for genesis tanks is so small that it might be tough to match the precise dimensions necessary when working with molten glass...

I don't know if I buy that. How are rebuildables different? With the o rings, there's some wiggle room... shouldn't be more difficult than a carto tank... and considering the dct shorty tubes are the perfect size and they're mass produced, it should be cake... I'm dyin for a glass tube too... preferably black or green :p

They do fully worked custom glass pieces though, they don't work with stock pyrex tubing :/
I've talked with Kai about making DID tanks before and I got the same response, though I bet I can send him a spare tank of mine and we'll see if he's able to make a worked glass replica :)

I have no problem with them wanting to develop the best tank possible. Like Rick said they aren't cutting from tube stock. The tricky part for them may be making something that wouldn't shatter easily and would be a proper fit
