Very strange indeed cloud, cant figure out. I went to 500 mesh and my DID never performed better. Yes, maybe deep clean because the mesh itself rolled tight and fat wicks extremely well and has full flavor potential. Keep us informed with your tinkering. Wish I could offer more advice, but I know, you know what you are doing. Your setup sounds exactly like mine but with opposite results, curious.

Thx Rick, I will figure it out. It was just one of those days when I had all my "chores" done and my wife said, "beautiful day, couple hours till dinner why don't you go for a ride?" Had that weird feelings and said maybe later (knowing I wouldn't) and made a wick instead.

I've been humbled by the new DID! totally different from the first generation... I'm shorting all over...I'll have to resort to the dreaded cotton wool layer and put an end to this...
AND the hair hole? it was supposed to be 1.2mm... me, can't see the difference...
but! its beautiful, just received it today. satin finish :) tired but happy...

Talking of wicks and oxidation....

I am just going to toss my thoughts in, and suggest a way that I now do it, that is slightly different, but gives me perfect results, every time.

I keep all the dregs of juice from old flavours and failed DIY mixes and throw them all in to a 100ml bottle.

I flame off the mesh before rolling it in the gas hob in the kitchen, both sides, air cool.

I then roll my wick, as required, normal way.

I then heat the wick to a deep orange on the gas stove hob and quench in the above bottle of juice, it creates quite a fog cloud as it vaporises some of the juice on contact. I then reintroduce a flame to the soaked wick and let it burn off slow.

I repeat the whole heating, quenching, flaming off process about three times, sometimes four…

It oxidises the wick very well, and I never, repeat never, have a problem with shorts or hotspots caused by a badly oxidised wick.

It also is a way to use up all the dregs of juice that would only get thrown away.... Win/Win.

I'll have a to add a gas stove to my shopping list LoL.
Anyone who oxidizes with a blow torch and has great results jack frosting please post some before and after close up pics of the mesh sheet for colour comparison and something to aim for, I'm sure many would benefit from/ appreciate this.
Truly short free wicks are a rare beast in my DID even after trying every newly posted method.
If somone really gets it perfect every time they could make a fortune selling preoxidised sheets, I'm not rich but if I had a dollar for every hour I've spent on messing with Ss wicks I would be :)

I would also love to get glass tank to DID, but is this a good idea? In mods with 2mm thick tank wall is quite solid. In DID tank wall is very thin and I think glass tank would be extreme fragile. Of course wall could be bigger, like on photos posted in this topic, but for me that looks ugly. Better idea for crack-tank-liquids will be tank from siringe material.

Just a thought ;)

I agree on the aesthetics Edward, its not for me. That said different strokes for different folks you know. I am looking at setting something up to bevel the ends so they taper in towards the OD of the device which would look a lot nicer I think.

Just measured a standard tank.
27.53 mm tall, 17.55 id, 19.95mm od, 1.25mm thick.
I'd love to see glass tanks!

Thanks for the measurements lexi, I am ordering glass on Monday and if I can find something close I will add it to the order. Not nit picking but your numbers dont add up precisely, close enough to give it shot though, a 1.25 wall on 19.95 OD should be 17.45 ID. If you could measure the metal part the tube goes over (where the oring is) that would tell me the absolute smallest ID that would go on Sometimes and oring change can be made too to make something fit that is close.

Maybe if someone with a micrometer could spec it out, you could make the right one for us. You could probably email Jim and he'd give you the proper measurements.

I have sent Jim a note and will refrain from posting anything further here until I hear from him.

Has anyone found since the site came back up again most recently (over last couple of days) that all their account details have been lost?
I had already created a new password/deleted cookies for the new website.. when it changed from evape to mmm. This is different.
I think Jim posted that he was unable to transfer that information to the new site. If I remember correctly he said he will keep the old site up for archived order info.

Thanks for the reply.
I was previously able to log into the new website, after creating new password.. my password didn't carry over, i needed to create a new one.. had no drama there.
But just today ive attempted to log into new website with same email addy and its prompted me to essentially create a new account, fill in name/address and so on.

If this is the case for everyone, no worries. Just thought i would check before making my next order :)
