Hilarious!
But a ticket for going 77 in a 65 zone??? That's rough man...what were you driving?

Yea tell me about. I45 is mostly 75mph. I wasn't paying attention it was late dark and cold. I was daydreaming of the Poldiac.

Aye here, couldnt agree more, after all these will be something we will have for a long time to come, whats a little more wait time. Jim, we know you pushed the limits to try and meet this deadline and appreciate all the blood, sweat and tears you put into it, this will just make them more special when they arrive, hope you and yours have a very Merry Christmas!!!

Jim, not sure if you have to scrap the material with the bad engravings. But if you do, I would imagine that will go directly to your bottom line. If that is so, then I ask that you only send me the tube that I originally requested and not all three. It is the least that I can do and hopefully save you some money.

That is the sweetest thing I read in a long time on E-cig fora.
It shows a lot of empathy and respect...:thumb:
Thank you for that!!

Thanks for the kind words Brigit!

It doesn't take too long to realize that Jim puts his heart and soul into his business and truly cares about his customers. And anyone who cares that much deserves something back from me.

I hope he and his family gets everything they deserve for Christmas!!!

Here I go again, today I have received from "The Mesh Company (Warrington, UK)" a couple of sheets, one super fine #400 and #500, and as they promised they included an extra sheet of each in "ULTRA Fine (400 and 500)" for under $20. I also got some 30ga K wire. I am using the DID with my ProVeri so I have to wrap my coil between 1.5 and 2.0 oms to make it work. I use TastyVapor.us juices about 30 to 40% VG.

Which mesh should I use, and should I roll it thin, thick walled or solid? With most of my other wicks I had to keep my PV almost level with the floor to get the juice on the coils, I don't like that. I do not even want to have to think about that when I am vaping.

The "Ultra Fine" sheets seem really thin. Are they useful or better to use with the DID?

I got my coil wrapping down. The only way I can wrap it, so they can work right, is out of the unit. Then hold the ends of the wire with a little tension on the coils and re torch the wick and coil for a few seconds. Will I get over 1.5 oms with four wraps of the 30ga K?

I use my DID with the Provari and I recently got some 500 mesh too, I must say that I prefer the 500 over the 400 personally. I usually use 50mm by 40mm to make a wick that still has a center hole big enough for me to get a seringe needle in it but has outer dimensions that just fit the wick hole nice and snug. I use 30 AWG wire and wrap 4 to 5 wraps for my coil to give me around 1.6 to 1.7 ohm coil.
The 500 mesh wicks very well for me, from pure PG to pure VG juices and anything in between.

I hope this helps you on your way. I am sure there are others that will respond with more detail. ;-)

To add, I set my wick and coil up in an empty DID and nudge the coils until they all glow evenly (I do this with the Provari at 3.0 volt) When I am satisfied that they all glow evenly I fill up the DID and it then gives me great pleasure to see how the wick gets wet from the bottom to the top! Then I know it will be fab!

Not to be a total noodge....

Wicking/coiling depends on the DID you're setting up. Here's what works for me:

Mini/Gemini (Kanthal 30awg 4/5 - 1.2ohm-1.4ohm):

  1. Jack Frost (torch both sides of mesh before rolling)
  2. ~1mm flat folded leading edge (seems to eliminate shorts/hotspots on the edge)
  3. Fat wick (full width of wick hole)
  4. Thick walled with a center channel (as much #500 as I can wrap around a 15ga blunt tip needle and still slide into the wick hole with very slight friction to hold it in place but slide in easily)
  5. Sizing ~1mm off tank bottom, even with center post top (after getting the roll correct I trim with scissors and the reroll ends to be round)
  6. Wrap coil on wick before installing and twist ends 1/2 twist to keep shape (I find it easier to wrap a nice coil - not too tight, nice and evenly spaced before sticking wick in)
  7. Holding the twisted wire end in hemostats do 3 juice burns (light on fire and let burn out) with a 1/4 turn of the wick in the wire between burns. (this seems to temper the coil into the perfect shape and by turning the wick between burns I get a juice layer under all areas of the coil - minimizes break-in)
  8. Install wick/coil (snug but not overly tight at top/bottom - nudge to even out wraps)
  9. Fill and vape (4 out of 5 times flavor vapor is perfect, for that 5th time I simply twist the wick 1/4 turn and keep vaping - repeat till no metallic/burnt taste)

Sometimes I'll do the dry burn after install to see the evenness of glowing coils but most times I just juice it up and go for it. This seems like a lot of steps but really goes very quickly once it becomes habit and (YMMV) it seems to eliminate/reduce and fiddle time required once the setup is complete. Another cool aspect is that these wicks last a really long time (weeks/months), can easily twist out the wick for dry burns/cleaning or to recoil using same method above.

...and for anyone interested, that method works great on any of the larger sized DIDs too. I just use larger sized mesh (40mm x ~100mm instead of 40mm x ~60mm - on either simply trim till it fits easily but firmly in wick hole) and reduce the number of coil wraps to 3/4 to get the same 1.2ohm-1.4ohm or sometimes drop to 28awg and stick with the 4/5 for about the same resistance range - 28awg 3/4 will drop to 0.9ohm-1.1ohm - which is great on a 100% mech mod but may give E1/E2 on Provari.

For any style wick/coil if you're having problems try the 1/4 wick twist. Another trick if going for the dry burn glowy coil thing is to simply blow on the hot spots until they go away.
