Well worth the effort though Nate, training for the day one hopes will never ever happen for real.

Oh absolutely, I would much rather train every day for the unlikely event then have it happen and not be ready for it. I have been in a fire aboard ship before and if it had not been for the constant back breaking training we do we would have had a very bad LAST day.

So even though it hurts, even though we are either cold during training for flooding or sweating into our boots during firefighting training we are absolutely thankful for it when the day comes that our lives depend on it.

That's awesome how they prep for critical stress situations like that. I hope the shivers slow down soon, I'm getting cold just thinking about it. The kids gave me boot warmer/sock warmers for Xmas this year, I think I might break them out today and it's 75% out!

Absolutely Uma, it is imperative that we be desensitized to these kinds of situations because we have to be 110% confident that when the day comes that we have to use it we will not freeze up or run away. I have seen people who have completely become paralyzed by fear when they go through this training center and they are quickly removed and taken care of and then reinforced with confidence and returned to the trainer to try again. We will hand feed the weak until they become stronger. That way the entire team is at 110% capability when the time comes to use it.

Nice. Yeah, I have been spreading myself somewhat thin lately.

I have switched out all the brass posts to SS - too much hassle tearing them apart to clean them and the brass gets black and filthy from tarnishing. My DIDs will stop firing properly before the mesh and wire need replaced.

I know I have been away for a long time! Dspin replaced brass with SS? Nice.

Y'all will have to forgive me, I am only about 12,000 posts out of the loop.

Anyway, from me just doing a quick cursory glance at past posts, it would seem that this thread has remained as it was: a place of great people who are kind and helpful. Maybe one day I will be able to buy a Poldiac--it's so classy--but even if I don't, it is sweet knowing its out there. Congrats to all of you for being down with a great supplier.

I have been a fan of the REAL DID from day one when it arrived, and think that you have really paved the way for device makers out there to keep their devices in stock and not to just make enough for others to pay way over what they originally paid for. LOVE the DID, and actually need to pick another one, because I gave mine to my cousin that just started getting into RBAs. So looking for a new DID to call my own, again!!
