Thanks everyone, been doing a lot of reading here!

Hey Jim, you've Welcomed your mind to your new journey of " freedom", it's not a repeat chapter, it's a New chapter: vaping

I tried vaping, a real e-cig set up, my first time April 13th, 2015. Myself a smoker for 29 yrs. April 2015, I was smoking the most I've ever.
I was smoking up to a carton of Marlboro's Special Blends every week. Horrible yes, it's the truth. I don't know if it was the blend itself
that made me smoke more? or it was just me, trying to satisfy an unsatisfiable yearning of what I once gained from Marlboro lights> which
became so expensive, I traded down ( cough). The Special Blends to be a dollar less per pack. (my area).

By fluke I was able to try a E-cig, Vape. I the first hit was knocked over in a good way. Where has this been all my life ?
April 14th I began reading online everything I could possibly read. I purchased online a Halo Triton set up. I could not wait for it
to be received. I went on April 17th to my local Vape Shop and I viewed their setups. I was referred to purchase and I did, an Eleaf 50 watt
Battery with a Kanger Sub Mini Tank. I tried endless Vape e-juices, chose one, I left the store vaping.

I pulled into their parking lot at 1pm, April 17th. I put out my last smoked cigarette, not in my mind, yet this is what did transpire.
I have not smoked a cigarette since 1pm on April 17th. I am here as an update as well as your cheerleader. You too can be smoke
free in less than 24 hours, it can be done. I suffered zero withdrawals. I have tried everything to quit. I tried cold turkey, the patch,
hypnosis, laser therapy, nothing to work. All and only to spin me into withdrawal hell, that I lasted 2 wks or so (hiding myself from humanity)
me.. to go back to smoking.

I started with a 18 nic, here I am June 9th and I am vaping a 6mg and a 3mg, I toss them up.
It's been so simple, so easy, that I cannot even put it all into words. My health to improve in this short of time, I feel like a renewed
49 yr old. I haven't gained a pound either, I have actually lost weight. To toss in for the fear of weight gain.
I can SMELL again, my diet has totally changed for the better.

My only negatives, first was anxiety that I kept looking for my lighter, this in the first 48hours. My security blanket: my lighter
I did suffer a bit at night, having a hard time falling asleep,... I think it was the 18nic in my system, this to keep me alert.
The only other is it dehydrates you a tad, just bump up your liquid intake, water based fluids preferred, it's that easy.

Any questions - ask away, there are so many persons here with their own stories - they are here to Help.
Best to you Bro - don't wait until Fathers day ..go to a Vape store and test some ejuices, get this Party started now :)
Not all E-juices are alike .. I know, boy do I. A great site for you is the Ejuice Data-base where Real people Rate real
E-juices - no advertisers are allowed.

Welcome, Jim! We've all been there...this is a wonderful place to be! Everyone wants to help you succeed and ditch the death sticks. I was a professional quitter over 36 years. All it took was a good starter e cig I could understand and not mess up. I liked the routine of smoking, too, I just replaced it with something better!

Thanks everyone for the welcome! I've done a lot of research and I think I know what to start with - Apollo, Valiant Kit. And why the wait?... well, I've been dropping a lot of hints, hoping to get it for Father's Day. :)

    Jim

I don't want to worry you Jim, but
Could someone on here price up that kit please for Jim?

    In the UK, it says

    LIST PRICE: £69.97
    YOUR PRICE: £44.95
    YOU SAVE £25.02!

It's a VV ego, Protank 2, charger and liquid. Seems expensive to me. I make it a £36-£38 kit.

Sorry, but best to get off on the correct foot. (Do you have that expression?) :)

I was a pack a day to two packs a day smoker for 40+ years Vaping allowed me to quit the cancer sticks almost immediately. You really don't need to set a quit date for the death sticks like you do using the bogus crap big Pharma sells to try to get you quit IMO. As soon as your vaping stuff arrives go ahead and begin vaping and if you have a really strong urge for a cancer stick just have one. I believe you'll find out as most of us did, very quickly those cancer sticks will smell and taste horrible, and you won't want anything more to do with them. Good luck, rooting for you.

I was a 2 pack +/day smoker for over 25 years. I quit in August 2014 and haven't looked back. As much as you smoke, I would not recommend the clearomizers (eGo starter packs). I tried and almost failed. I upgraded to a Kanger Protank and still almost gave up. It was the Aspire Nautilus that finally gave me the puff I was looking for. The smaller tanks will give you the nicotine if you get a strong enough juice, but as heavy of a smoker as you are I do't think that's going to be enough for you. The Nautilus is a little more expensive and so are the coils, but they last longer and give a more satisfying puff. I'd say start off at at least a 20mg fluid if not 24. Take about 3 or 4 draws for every time you would have smoked an analog. If you get a nicotine buzz, try a slightly lower nic level. RY4 is a good flavor to quit on. Most brands have a little nicotine flavor in them along with caramel and vanilla or chocolate (which are all flavors commonly found in analog cigs), but everybody's taste is different.
You said you were hoping to get your first e-cig for Father's day... I would ask for a gift card. Like someone said earlier, most shops will let you try the stuff out before you buy it. A lot of folks will give up if the 1st e-cig they try isn't the right one for them. Do some shopping. Find the right equipment and a fair price. Good luck, buddy. You can do it!:headbang:
