Okay, so... now that I am getting the feeling that my sidesho isn't the best choice for a intro to e-smoking. Is the Joye ego-t reliable? I mean, will the "tank" break open or something?

Sidesho is a 510 which is a solid unit, bit overpriced, 510 parts will work with ego (also 510) batteries, the big difference is how long the battery lasts. If you're a 1 to 1 1/2 pad smoker, a better battery even if it not the size or shape of a cig may make sense.

The tanks (haven't tried one myself) are somewhat new but have had some good reviews, and not many leaking problems. As with any new device there is a bit of a learning curve, but the forum has answers, and if you can't find them ask, good people here.
You may end up with more answers than you bargened for... LOL

I would be weary taking advice from someone who hasn't ever used a mod that tells you to stay away from them. You need to ask yourself...how much are you willing to spend. Do you want a system that is only capable of low volt vaping (3.7 like all the rivas, egos, sidesho) or one that can be set from low to high at whim? How important is it to you to be small and cig shaped? And lastly, always have a backup battery!! Things can happen, be prepared.

Yes, no one gets much love for recommending a mod. Why I have no idea! For the money you are spending, I would get a reo, or if that's too high, there are so many choices. ....

Reo is very nice, if you can buy one!!! Lots of mods out there, if you're willing to go on a waiting list or hope to find one in stock, or buy second hand, and wait 4-6 weeks lead time with a pre-order. Most noobs want to order and receive something to vape within less than a week by far.

I happily vaped my ego waiting for my mods, never looked at it as a bad investment, just a hold over.

Lol, there are many mods that are avail without a list, maybe not the crazy popular ones. And like I said, always have a backup! Buy a cheap whatever to get you through a possible down time, (need a back up whether you go with reg or mod). Darwin just came out and they are becoming avail pretty regularly. Out right now, but more expected in just days.

Goal, I feel your pain. It is crazy confusing at first. When I first started looking, I had no idea what the difference between a cart and cartomizers was!

What I would do, buy an ego battery, pack of cartomizers and some juice.(my fav. Juices come from vaporbomb and freedomsmokesusa). Don't spend a crazy amount of money at first. Play with it a few days, get your feet wet and research vv mods. Take your time.

You can also get a cheap 5v box mod at madvapes.com for I believe $25. Not the best or most durable. But will last quite awhile. 5v will give more vapor, a bit warmer vape and a stronger throat hit. Not the prettiest mod. Form or function.

3xAA 5 Volt Boxmod with changing LED $32.99 (only 5v in stock)
BR-1206W Lithium Ion Battery Charger $11.99

So many say they are complicated to start with but they are no more complicated than an ego system, unless you get a ggts mod. I started with a sidsho, 902, Lux ( basically an ego battery) then to a ggtb and now a Darwin. I would have saved Sooo much money if someone told me to go straight to a vv mod. Jmho.

It's not that, it's just that the post recommending a mod are so confusing. I've been here a month and I don't know what that means. Whats a vw? What's a ggtb? Where do you get them? What do you need to go with them? I'm not trying to pick on you (hope it doesn't sound that way!) but when people talk about mods they rattle off initials and numbers and it's confusing. :D

okay, you guys are scaring the heck out of me.... I don't mind if what i'm using doesn't look like a newport. I watched a good amount of vids showing off all sorts of contraptions. I checked out some vids showing off the darwin but with its 200+ price i can live w/o it for the moment. What i realy want is a nicotine delivery system that is portable with decent batteries that can last 6 hrs. Preferably I will be able to charge it on the go. All this talk is confusing the hell out of me ( most I understand - but no matter what I get I will probably find something better down the road) So Guys this is it.... Sorta. I am going to buy the Ego-T starter kit + an extra battery + a sample pack of juices from that something wood website. And a few extra tanks. - I think this is a good idea... And if you guys have any hints/tips/tricks/suggestions Please feel free to message me. Thanks a Bunch!!!! -g0al

Yeah,.... I tried so hard to get the right thing. ( chuckle ) and at the time nearly everyone was sayign the same thing... get this one.....

It is working for me the eGo-T, but it isnt without its issues, I think no matter what I got, later on I would end up with something else. I am still using the eGo-t and plan to for some months now.

But I will probably end up with something else down the road.

there are a lot worse places you could start, but Swedishfis is right, the nice thing about the ego, is you arent stuck with the tank... add an inexpensive cartomizer and you have a standard eGo setup.

Dont worry too much, no matter what you start with, you will want to try something else later

I understand you've decided on the eGo-T kit.

The hardest part is just making that first decision.

You've had a lot of advice (much of it mixed) but here's what it boils down to at this point:

The eGo-T is a good first choice, the batteries will last a good 8-10 hours between charges and are very versatile as far as the many ways that you can use them. With eGo batteries you can try the following vaping methods:

• the tank system (that's what you are getting)
• cartridges
• cartomizers
• drip tip
• low resistance atomizers (LR atty's)
• clearomizers
• map tanks
• vapemates
• maybe more... those were just off the top of my head

So you are off to a good start

Here's the part where I try not to confuse you while giving you some sage advice (so if you are all happy that you finally have it figured out, stop reading here :) )

The tank system does have some mixed reviews. Many people love them but quite a few people feel that they still have some bugs that need to be worked out (myself included). Fortunately, with the batteries you are getting you could add the following to your shopping list and be pretty much set (except for juice) for a while and have the opportunity to try a few vaping methods and see what pleases you most - since we are all different:

• standard 510 atomizers Atomizers

• 2X packs of Boge LR 510 cartomizers 510 LR Cartomizer (BOGE) - Blank 5 pack

• a 510 drip tip Drip-tips & Carts

I will tell you that the two top preferred vaping methods are drip tips and cartomizers.

REGARDING mods: Yes, getting a mod is a great idea.... I personally think you'll have an easier time deciding what mod is right for you after you've tried vaping for a while on your eGo batts and learn a bit more about the technology involved (what does mah contribute, what's the voltage all about, why a juice feeder... etc...).

Before you try it, you don't even know if you like a strong throat hit or not.... it'd be a shame to drop $200 on something only to find that you'd be happy with a $50 e-cig.

Good luck! :)

Swedishfish, with every system there are names/initials that are confusing until you learn more. A ggtb is just a name of a mod, just like ego is a name. Every e-cig and mod use the same basic parts. Battery, atomizers, something that holds juice like a tank, cart, cartomizer... mods are typically just as easy to understand as anything else as they all are basically the same thing. Only thing that is different is the shape and some mods are capable of voltage changes either due to a different battery or a dial that you set.

But, as I said, I would always recommend having a back up. So getting an ego-type us a good first step. My point was not to let mods seem confusing and scary or worse yet unnecessary. I've never talked to an owner of a vv (variable volt) that was disappointed for going in that direction, but have talked to many who finally bought one and wished they hadn't waited so long.
