I think these people are just so happy to have kicked the habit that it makes them appear overly enthusiastic. Just think how much YOU love smoking! How STRONGLY you love it. That's how they feel about their Ecigs. They seem to love them as strongly as they did their regular smokes, if not more so.

I am ordering my ecig soon too! I'm praying it works for me and if it does, you won't be able to shut me up:) I will mention it to every person I know that has a smoker in their life:)

Good luck to you!

I agree the vaping world does almost seem like a cult. I think it's because we are all excited that these things work and we really want to share with people.. that being the magic of e-gigs.

I never ever thought I could give up analogues but did exactly that when my eGo arrived almost 3 weeks ago!!

My other half is now saying hmmm I could try that.. I'm like well have a try... we'll see if she takes it up :)

Enjoy take your time and find what works for you.

Cheers,

Maxy

I was very fortunate. Someone turned me on to this forum before I ever bought my first pv. Armed with the good info I found here I bought an inexpensive 510 kit and some sample juices. I celebrated my 6 month cigarette free anniversary almost a week ago. If not for ECF I might very well be still smoking cigarettes.

My hesitation for jumping onto the e-cig bandwagon wasn't because of the absence of long-term studies; hell, everyone knows the long-term effects of actual cigarettes... but what turned me off is the way this market is presented.

I felt the same way you did at first about the whole e-cig craze. (for reference, I've been checking out ECF since Fall 2009 and just recently bought my first PV)
I was aware of the kiosks in the mall selling these cheapies but I played it out like it was a nicotine inhaler. I then saw the Doctors, that afternoon soccer mom talk show, and they were raving on the e-cig. It caught my attention a little more. Then a friend of mine started vaping and that stuck with me. He talked for hours about e-cigs, juices, ECF and his hardships on quitting analogs.

I spent about a year researching after that, finding videos reviews and commentary. I agree that most of the reviews seemed a little staged or pre-conceived but that is the nature of Youtube (Virals). One person on Youtube that caught my eye was Cozzcon. His videos documented a story of the struggle of nicotine addiction and he showed that he had to go through a lot of different e-cigs and juices to find the right one. He seemed real to me and like he was making these videos to really educate the viewer and give them some hope.

Anyways that's my story and I can relate, I've been there. I did finally buy a pv (an eGo) and have been off smokes for over a week, without the cravings/urge to smoke...

Yeah, what they said...

I think the reason all the reviews are good (even for products that you KNOW aren't good) is that any e-cig is better than an analog! I was extremely skeptical too, even after lurking around the forum for a bit. For a while I even thought it was just one huge made-up advertising scheme. After all, all my life people were able to quit using products that I tried and that never made me quit, why would this thing be any different?

I just kept my fingers crossed and waited for the mailman to bring me the darned thing so I could try it for myself. Even the first couple of days I kept my smokes handy and even smoked a couple of them too - but I finally decided to see if I could go a day without them and I was more shocked than anyone that it was no problem at all to vape instead of smoking.

I think reading the "success stories" forum was what really convinced me that the people here at ECF are the real deal. Reading the success stories is what got me to take the leap and try it.

Good Luck in your vaping adventure. Ask a lot of questions and you'll get better results.

I was also lucky to find this place before I bought a single item - this is the real deal - a place of REAL PEOPLE, not ad execs in disguise and hte reviews are real too - not ads, as you will see from all the different opinions lol.
When i joined last xmas I was recommended either a 510 (basic back then, no eGos were around or I'm sure Id have been recommended that over the basic 510 for performance if not price) or a KR8 and those are STILL the most popular models with a rabid fanbase for both kinds :D I went with the 510 but I could have just as easily gone with the KR8 tbh - they are both good solid PV.
Come here for education, help, reviews, or just to chat - you will find users around 24/7 and always willing to chime in :thumb:

I am a GUY from L.A. not girl. lol
Welcome! I hear ya! The google search engine brings up sites that pay google first, then others later on. Sometimes I spend a few days going through the entire contents of a search(like fishing), and sometimes find a jewel of a supplier. The ECF suppliers for the most part are excelent, and offer the best supplies for the best prices. Also, you can check out this Electronic Cigarette Coupon Code Master List - Electronic Cigarette Forum Lot's of good suppliers there.

Let us know what model of e-cig you got. We can help provide possibly valuable info for you before you get it.

I have mixed feelings about all the affiliate sites and such you mentioned:

On one hand, they're selling overpriced crap and promising them moon. That's internet marketing for you. I worry that enough people will get burned that PVs in general will get a bad rep.

On the other hand, I'm sure many people like yourself are being introduced to the concept and being given a reason to look deeper into the subject.

Overall, I think the good outweighs the bad. The only way PVs are going to become acceptable mainstream is for someone to start making enough profit to fight for them.

Assuming they remain legal, eventually the scams will die and the good suppliers and products will stick around.

I feel your "pain". I am in the same boat as you! I have been searching, researching, reading, watching videos, etc... for the last two to three days. I have been totally fascinated and daunted by all there is on the Net. I also got the icky used-car-salesman feeling from most of what I saw. I have online forum experience (my main one is st-owners.com a Honda ST motorcycle group.) and knew if I found one that was like my main forum then I would find real people with real stories and experience, and this place is it! Through it I found cignot.com. A vap webstore that seems to be ran by a couple of kewl ladies that answer your email and offer great prices and fast ship.

It is hard to shift through all the BS and I'm still in that process. I can tell I am getting very excited and can hardly wait for that darn delivery guy to show!!! GEEZ!!! LOL

Good luck to your search and program. One of the best things about forums like this one is the personal support members offer. That is priceless!!!

I wish I had found this site before ordering my first kit. If I had, I wouldn't have made the choice I did. I don't regret my decision to get a PV but I wish I knew more before making my first purchase. There is so much information and a lot of it is conflicting. It's so confusing for someone just starting out and it really doesn't have to be. Of course companies want you to buy their product and they make it hard to figure out what to buy because they don't really give you all the information. They're hoping to suck you in so you'll spend more money than you really need to on their products, especially the kiosk businesses.

The people on this forum are awesome! I've never seen a forum where people actually get along and honestly help each other out! We've all "been there, done that" so we understand what others are going through. I have yet to see anyone chastise anyone on this site for being a smoker or wanting to quit that nasty habit. If only the rest of the world worked the way this forum does....

Don't be afraid to ask questions, even if you think it's been asked before. There's a lot of information on this site and sometimes it's not always easy to find the answer to your question. And who knows, maybe another newbie has the same question but can't find the answer either. The people here aren't above anyone else and are more than willing to answer the same questions over and over. We all understand the frustrations and confusion so we try to make it easy for the people just starting out.

The people who say smokers are rude, selfish, uncaring people have never been to the ECF! Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping!

I totally agree with everything said here. I was lucky and found this place after I began an exhaustive search for an e-cig after several months of contemplation of the thing after they became faddish at a place I worked at. Fortunately, I am not an impulse buyer and can hold out until I am positive I am getting a good deal for my money. These folks were so awesome helpful...I couldn't ask for better mentors.

My first consideration was that ciggies....I hated those nasty, evil things....and I couldn't leave them. I know I am addicted to nicotine, and I am ok with that! Better than crack, or heroine, or alcohol, right? (yeah, rationalize away, chick ;)) I knew from the past, quitting was a failure waiting to happen, but the cost alone was putting me almost into the poor house, I was pondering better food at the market, or ciggies and hamburger helper. Guess what won, and I was STILL getting further behind!!!

My second, and ever lurking was my health. I have several things running in my family, diabetes, cholesterol, heart problems, ALL made worse with smoking, and my mother....she died of COPD (congestive heart failure) My grandfather died from emphysema, so lung problems abound. I KNEW I needed to get off these damn things, and pills were a joke, and I was even considering chantix, even with the horrible stories and dark clouds. I also have fibromyalgia...under control and content with the pain levels...till I got off the ciggies.

I made my decision, and I haven't even thought about looking back. The transition was seamless, I totally forgot about smoking ciggies! I went DIY with my juice and mix myself silly all the time with the variety of flavors. I de-toxed all that trash and garbage out of my system, I was able to walk to work without gasping and despising it (smoking and walking to work don't mix), I am at the point now where the first time in over 20 years I kinda do this shuffling jogging thing on the way home from work, not all the way mind you, but I get a little farther every few days! MIRACLE! My sugar level is down. My pain level...HAR! I love it! It's gone from a daily 2-3 to a 1, dude! My pain level has decreased with removing tobacco and those chemicals from my life. It's because I am able to get out and exercise more and actually take a deep breath for a change.

I can tell you, I am a real person. I will meet you face to face and prove it. I am not endorsed by any company for anything! The stores I talk about are stores I have had dealt with and made real cash transactions with. I bought their stuff and use it daily. My experiences are my own...and you will have your own story here soon enough, I promise. Ask these people anything. They are knowledgeable, helpful, and they are giving out of pure selflessness with no ulterior motive other than to make your experience the best possible. They can dispense the advice because they have all been there, right where you are at, and are all smiling and nodding and remembering while they relate to you what they went through. There is no judgement, no "don't get this, get the kind I use" type of pitch, because they have learned it's an individual experience. Heck, most of the folks here have several different types of PV's :)

All I can say is, welcome to your new extended family. :D

Very well said! I started my journey for ecigs about 3 years ago, on google. I new I had to do something about our habit, but I became so confused and disappointed that I gave up, until about 3 months ago when health reasons forced me to rethink the situation. Then I found home (ECF). Did all the research I needed right here. The members are fantabulous. And now we're both on our way to a better tomorrow (smokeless)!!

Yep. That's a good point.

Another reason for the 'evangelistic' atmosphere in this forum and in some videos (and I use the word in the nicest possible sense, because I feel pretty evangelistic myself since I started vaping), is the fact that so many people have tried other ways to quit and none of them worked for very long. Then they find PVs and they're like kids in a toy shop.

Ok, so I got my kit on Monday and since the forum's were goofy I wasn't able to find my post until now. Now that everything's groovy, here's my experience thus far...

Like I mentioned, I ordered my kit before I found these forums. I ordered the Prosmoke kit. There's a few people on here that loathe them and a few that thought they were ok. The kit came with 2 batteries and 5 carts. After charging up one of the batteries, I screwed the thing together and dove into my first puff. I was surprised at how long and hard you have to suck to get anything out. Feel free to use that last sentence in your sig. Anyway, since I can't compare this kit to anything else, I'll honestly say I'm fairly pleased with it. Now that I'm used to it, I can get it to produce a good amount of vapor with each puff. It doesn't taste like much, but I think I feel the physical withdrawal symptoms of analogs subside. The battery life isn't all that great, but since I always have one charging it works out. Plus, I prefer the small size.

On Monday, I ended up having only 2 regular smokes as opposed to a pack. I still have the pack of cigs I bought Monday morning with a handful to spare, so that's definitely a good sign. Since I'm such a newbie, however, I don't exactly know how long a cart should last. I feel like I wasted the first few by not using up all the juice and threw them out prematurely. I will probably order more carts, but was wondering if anyone has used the Prosmoke and could tell me if there are any 3rd party suppliers where I can find carts or juice for a cheaper price. 9 bucks for 5 carts seems like a rip off... but then again, 6 bucks for 20 cigarettes is certainly a ripoff.

Will it replace my analog habit? I'm not sure yet, it's too early to tell. My favorite part about smoking probably won't be replaced: socializing. Let's face it. For all the disease and deaths smoking has caused, it does have a few very small benefits. You meet people and you become a "watchdog". Since I always smoke outside, I'm forced to look around... keep an eye on the neighborhood... It may not sound like a big deal, but a pair of eyes is better than nothing. I'm sure there's stories of smokers seeing something, responding, and saving a life or preventing disaster--all in the name of cigarettes. Since the battery life is pretty short, I can't see myself using these anywhere except at home... and I really wouldn't want to take it with me when I go out. But, I am pleased with the product. Very cool. Great idea. :)

hahahahaha! Sorry, I just had to laugh at the amazing rationalizations that we smokers can come up with. We have no shame.
