Hi guys! My name is Jacob. I'm hooked on vaping. A bit about my history with vaping.

I first entered this world of vaping three and a half years ago, but was disappointed with two of the units I tried and switched back to analogs. They burnt my throat and caused me to cough a lot. So I switched back to analogs and have been using them until this weekend when I rented a car and wasn't allowed to smoke in it or see a $300 fee. So I stopped at a cigarette store and picked up an nJoy and Blu. Blu made me cough constantly, but the nJoy was a beauty to use. So I got hooked to vaping. I went to a mall in town and came across Tececig store. I wish I had did the reviews first online, but I didn't think about it since they had on-site display and allowed me to try their two models. I really enjoyed The Phoenix, so I paid $100 (which, after doing my research tonight for a problem - more on that in a bit - is a rip off). I enjoyed it for the past four days until tonight...

The e-cig has been leaking juice into my mouth. I have switched the cartridges (came with five) and refilled them, yet the juices still leak into my mouth - leaving a nasty taste and burning sensation on the lips, in addition to getting ALL OVER the exterior of the device, leaving a nasty, oily feeling that required something like Windex to clean it good.

So here I am, I contacted Tececig to see if I had a possible defect, and I may or may not request a refund due to my lack of satisfaction tonight.

So having done my research, there is so many e-cig kits out there that I am feeling really overwhelmed. At this point, if I do get my refund, I would say my maximum budget is $150. As you know, I hated the Blu and the past e-cig I had had pre-filled cartridges. I think I prefer the e-juice method as I can order a bunch of different flavors in 30ML sizes and be set for a while. The size or look doesn't matter to me. I wish I knew the exact specifications of the Phoenix model I got, but I don't. Now that I'm upset I was really ripped off, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I've looked at Silver Bullet, KGO, etc. But I am confused all around. A battery lasting a day minimum would be nice, and something that doesn't have a potential to leak e-juice into my mouth would be a HUGE plus, and something that won't burn my throat or cause me to cough constantly like the Blu did.

I hope I am not confusing you guys... I want something solid, durable, doesn't leak, uses e-juice.

Thanks to everyone here and I hope to catch up on the lingo as we go as I grow to be a valued member here.

Hello,

I would consider this kit in a 900-1300 mAh capacity:

http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm

You get two batteries, two tanks (both your choice), all the gear to get started (except liquid). Go with one twist and one spinner to see which you like better. I have a spinner due to the fact that most reviews here favor it over the twist, but I think both are good. If you're not sure about the tanks to choose, just look at the drop down menu and then do a search here. Evods and T3's are popular here. Protanks are also popular but cost more and some people find the draw too airy.

Good Luck, and welcome back to vaping!

If you wouldn't mind switching to a box mod, I've been really happy with my itaste MVP, as far as battery life and reliability go. You can get everything for under $60. Always look for coupon codes when ordering. Mine came with two iclear 16s and the special charger (you can charge other devices off of the MVP) for $55. I have seen kits that came with an iclear 30 also.
If you want something stick shaped, I saw a passthrough variable voltage (most VV ego style batteries I have seen are not passthrough) at Apollo e cig (The 650 mAh is about $35, and the 1200 is about $45; get the 1200 for a longer lasting battery. They currently have a 15% off promo code or a free disposable. I think you can only use one promo code.) If you're near a computer or have an outlet with a wall plug adapter, you would never be without a battery (however, I would recommend having some sort of backup on hand, so you won't be at the mercy of analogs or a crappy mall vendor. Even if you have a good B&M nearby, I have never heard of a 24 hour one.)
I almost ordered the SLB Ego VV mega, which is around $35. If you're going to spend $150, there are many, many options, but you can spend much less and get something decent. You may even be able to get something that's compatible with your current battery. A new clearomizer or cartomizer might solve your problem, and only cost around $5 or $10 to get started.
Can you upload a pic of your current set up?

Dude - just throw that crap away and get a quality set-up. Juice in the mouth is the worst and should not be tolerated or even seen as slightly normal. Seriously.

If you want it, here's my advice on set-ups. Based on about three years of vaping and too much money spent on stuff that didn't work for me:

For a good cost-effective set-up:
Go with an eGo battery ($10-20 online) and some tanks.

For a premium set-up that you'll fall in love with:
Get yourself a Provari and some tanks. Period. You'll have a little sticker shock when you click the link but it is so worth it.

A word on tanks:
I hassled with atomizers, then caromizers, and then finally fell in love with tanks.

The SMOKtech DCT (dual-coil tanks) are nice and got me hooked. It's basically a cartomizer with a hole in bottom (on the side) that sits inside a tank of juice...it takes in more juice as needed. If you vape a lot it can get dry and then you have to take a drag without firing the battery to draw in more juice. Also, every now and again the tank will break at the threads and you have to replace the cart...not a huge deal, but it's messy when it happens. If you go that route - get the ones that have the locking ring on the bottom.

Just this week I started trying out the Vivi Nova tanks and I love them! They've got everything I loved about the DCT tanks, but they are eaiser to refill and feel a lot more sturdy / solid. And they seem to take a flavor change pretty well. I was vaping Apple, ran out, filled it back up with Strawberry and there was virtually no apple taste left...absolutely none after a few minutes of vaping.

Good Luck! It's a journey finding the rig that works for you. View it as investment.

Welcome back!

The never-fail standard for entry level vaping technology is an ego battery and tank of your choice. If you go that route, get a twist for the vv. I personally prefer a bottom coil to top coil and glass tanks to plastic. Silver Bullets are a great mod if you want something bigger than a ego size. There are tons of good mods out there! Find one you like, do some research and try it out. Vaping is a journey into self expression... (wow that was deep) The beauty of vaping is that all things can be customized, and new stuff is rolling out everyday!

Sounds like you are ready for a stick battery and clearomizer setup, like the one Alisa recommended. Let me just layout some of your options, and then a quick recommendation for you to review:

Stick Batteries, known as eGo Style Batteries (entry level, backup, out and about, stealth, primary):

Trusted Vendors shown, but NOT selected based on pricing, you'll still need to shop around. You will need device specific battery chargers (which often come in kits) for these devices. Also, kits often provide two batteries allowing for simultaneous vaping while charging of the backup. Each of the eGo style batteries below have both 510 and eGo thread connections. As such, they are compatible with most toppers, including most Kanger products. Additionally, each of these devices has at least variable voltage, which allows you to adjust and regulate the battery output voltage, providing customizable vapor production, temperature, throat hit, and finding the "sweet spot" for your juices to suit your individual vaping preferences:

1. Innokin iTaste 3.0 vv/vw, usb passthrough, ohms reader, etc. - https://ivape.net/index.php/iTaste-VV-3.0-Variable-Wattage-Device-Pearl-Chrome.html (variable power, LCD display, +/- buttons, Usb passthrough, 3.3 - 5.0 volts, 6.0 - 11.0 watts, 800mAh)
2. SLB KGO VV - http://www.hoosierecig.com/Mega-KGO-VV-1200mAh-3-6v-_p_441.html (LCD display, +/- buttons, Usb passthrough, 3.0 - 6.0 volts, 650 - 1200mAh)
3. Vision Spinner - Vision Spinner VV eGo Battery 1300mAh (3.3 - 4.8 volts, 1300mAh)
4. Joyetech Twist - eGo Twist 1000 Mah Battery in Black (3.2 - 4.8 volts, 650 - 1000mAh)
5. Smoktech Winder - Smok eGo Winder 900mAh Variable Volt Battery (3.2 - 4.8 volts, 900 - 1100mAh)

Best Starter Combo kit out there, imho, provides two batteries, i.e., the twist and/or spinner, and two toppers, i.e., the eVod and/or MT3s, among others: http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm.

Recommend one eVod and one MT3s topper with one Spinner and one Twist to start. This way you get four different products with the kit and allowing you to experience four different setups, as you figure out your preferences and what works best for you. BTW, you can spend less and get a fixed voltage battery, but you'll have much less vape flexibility and it won't be long before you'll want to upgrade to variable voltage, more than likely, and the difference initially is only a few dollars per battery anyway.

Good Luck, happy shopping, welcome to the Forum, YOU CAN DO IT, and Vape On!

Well, holy ..... Now, do I feel more overwhelmed or not! I decided to pull out my nasty credit card to buy a new kit today after class after talking to you all more for clarification. First off, I loved the suggestions and advice. I think my main thing right now is to find something that doesn't leak e-juice into my mouth and it seems like tanks are the way to go? But I may have more questions as the technology has definitely changed in the three years. I noticed some tanks have wicks built into them? Does this mean they go bad after a while? I think I would be up for something that can be customizable, such as changing tanks for bigger ones, or bigger batteries, or whatever. I am going to do my best to find something that's right for me. After a few days of no analogs, I had one today because the e-cig I have is still leaking juice into my mouth and I can't stand it. I'm disappointed, but I know I can make the switch for good once I get a GOOD, QUALITY, LEAK-PROOF e-cig. I'm going to answer some of your posts now.

What's the difference between a twist and a spinner? I totally loved the suggestion you sent me, as the tanks seem to be fillable with e-juice, but seem to be leak-proof, is this correct?

Good luck. Whatever you decide to get (the above suggestions are all good) get spares, especially of atomisers, batteries and liquid. When you are sure that the setup works for you also get a spare charger. The trick is never to be caught out with no means of vaping. Enjoy!

Not too worried about not being able to charge. Got my car, always in a building with an outlet, I'm good. Could always use an nJoy disposable as an emergency outlet!

The MVP looks unique. A battery charger built in for vaping. But I'm not quite sure if that's for me. As for my set-up, it can be found right here: Phoenix Series | Tececigs.Com

I'm going to ask for a refund. It might be hard since the place I bought it from is two hours away. Not sure if, with the gas prices here being $3.98, if it's worth the drive to get my $100 back.

It's your post that made me attempt to go for a refund on mine, even though I know it might be a losing effort. Now, the tanks you mentioned seem to have wicks to them. What's up with that? Do they burn out like a candle and require a lot of replacements? One thing I disliked about e-cigs three years ago was when I ran out... I had to wait a week for a replacement. I know back-ups are important, but you sometimes lose track of time and forget to order!!! But I liked your suggestions regarding tanks - it seems leak-proof and sturdy - mine is made of plastic with rubber tips and everytime I pull it out to refill, there's leaky juices EVERYWHERE which seems unacceptable!

Holy .... dude, this is a really helpful post, and I loved a couple of those links. After I get some clarification on some things (such as what is spinner and twist?), I will be ready to order. Now, what does it matter about the voltage? I'm assuming the higher the voltage, the bigger the "smoke" aka hit?
