Hello all,

Discovered this forum a few days ago and have been reading a lot and am a little less confused now. I have a few questions that I haven't been able to find answers to and hoping someone can help.

1. Is e-juice toxic? I know nicotine is but have never seen mention if e-juice is as well...would have to assume it is. We have a year old girl and would worry if she somehow got her hands in it.

2. In my line of work, smoking is seriously frowned upon. Is there any type of e-juice that does not produce any vapor? For me personally, I don't see the need or desire for vapor and it would be better for "concealment" if there was little to no vapor produced.

3. Do cartomizers or tanks, etc. leak? I would need something that can be kept in a pants pocket and not leak...that would be a major annoyance.

4. Product selection thoughts...I am drawn towards the "mod" stuff as I like shiny metal things. I would prefer something that did not resemble a regular cigarette, have no need for it to necessarily be lightweight, would prefer something that would run all day without recharging, and a little thicker diameter would be fine but shorter overall length is a plus (for keeping in pants pocket). At least for now, I think ease of use is important so dripping, dipping, etc. is not something I want to think about. But, if it means neater/cleaner usage (less mess, etc.) then I would consider it. Any suggestions on where I should be looking?

Thanks and sorry for the many questions!

Ok well to start off welcome to ECF. Although i can't answer all of your questions i will try to get as far as i can and im sure somebody will correct me if i'm wrong or add onto it.

1. yes e-juice is toxic it contains nicotine which is a poison. However a drop injested won't hurt you (as long as you aren't allergic) drinking a bottle probably wouldn't leave you feeling too well at all. Although that does sound a little scary most reputable ejuice suppliers send ejuice in child proof containers.

2. Are you already a smoker? - if you are then there's no need to hide vaping any more than you hide smoking. I'm not aware of any juices that don't create vapor - these may or may not exist. If you aren't a smoker why the need to vape ?

3. Short answer yes even with the best will in the world and the best kit you will at some point get juicey pocket syndrome . If i had answered no or depends how you use them to this question you would probably be even more likely to get juicey pocket syndrome.

4. There are plenty mods out there but i would look around and make sure vaping is where you want to head first - They range from cheap and cheerful to expensive glitterballs of lovelyness each offering it's own benefit - as i don't own a box mod i'll let the rest of the members suggestions jump in here.

I hope that helps a little.

Good answer above. Welcome aboard! My suggestion is to get a smaller version before you decide to buy a mod. For the cost of less then two cartons of cigarettes(or even one), you can find out if vaping is for you. My favorite starter kit is Halocigs
Advanced Starter Kit - Element - 3 Piece - Black. But there are many others(some even cheaper)...Liberty Fights ecig, Vapor4Life ecig, etc.

Best wishes!

No time like the present to get started vaping! You will have zero regrets! As for all your questions, I'll let the more knowledgeable members jump in - I'm just here for morale support!! You can do it!!

I smoked for 30 years - 1 to 1.5 packs per day (ppd) and I went cold turkey with a ecig. Just like that and I am almost at my 2 wk mark (12 days). I started out with a kit with KR808-D1 batteries and pre-filled cartos. It's a two piece unit and I love it and it's ez to use. I felt like it was a really good place to start as a newbie. I have already placed an order for some sample juices and will start refilling soon.

As far as little vapor - my second initial reaction was - take very small hits. At least for the carto's I'm using the vapor produces no smell whatsoever - the party is in your mouth (and smoke free lungs). My first initial reaction was humor - because I was the exact opposite. I was worried an ecig wouldnt emulate smoking enough...so I go for big vapes and love every minute of it!

Largest piece of advice I could give you is WATER. Drink plenty of water - I changed my water habits immediately and get a minimum of 64oz with a maximum of about 72oz per day and it has been truly benefiicial in so many ways - aside from what's needed for vaping. "We" produce the water that makes the vapor!!

Nice to meet you - keep us posted on your success!

Yes it is if ingested. And even more so for children (smaller bodies) who might be inclined to drink an entire bottle of your "juice" before you realize it. Definitely keep it out of the hands of young kids.

2. In my line of work, smoking is seriously frowned upon. Is there any type of e-juice that does not produce any vapor? For me personally, I don't see the need or desire for vapor and it would be better for "concealment" if there was little to no vapor produced.

Not that I know of. But considering almost all liquids produce no obvious odor in the vapor it may be a non issue. (Search on "stealth vaping") First they can't smell it. Second, if you get good at stealth vaping they may not even know you are doing it.

Or the reaction may be positive! Once they realize you are doing something, but it doesn't smell like god awful cigarette smoke, they may actually support what you are doing.

3. Do cartomizers or tanks, etc. leak? I would need something that can be kept in a pants pocket and not leak...that would be a major annoyance.

They can. It's something to look into on the forum.

4. I get it. But I would suggest not going too far overboard on your first purchase. If you want all day battery life - and something shiny too - I would suggest the Joye Ego in stainless or platinum with 900 or 1000 mAh batteries. Getting an eGo kit with a couple of those capacity batteries should take you through an entire day between charges.

Well...wait I thought of something else!

You say that in your line of work - smoking is frowned upon (and these days - it's rare to find something/somewhere/someone that doesn't frown upon smoking) and you're worried about the vapor! If you sit at a desk or something, just blow it under your desk or something cool like that!

Within my first 48 hours of quitting analogs, I was around all kinds of cig smoke along with cigar smoke and it struck me what a debt of gratitude I owed my non smoking friends and family. I saw that it didn't matter what I did - shower - smoke outside - perfume - gum (the list goes on) there is simply no way I hid the fact I smoked cigs. Now I see that I smelled like cigs + perfume + gum. It wasn't pretty!! HAHAHA!!!

Now - I smell YUMMY! My clothes smell fresh and clean - had my car detailed and it's fresh and clean! I love it! You will too!

As suggested above stealth vaping is something you should look into. Before I got my mods, I used a penstyle kr808d-1 from Vapor4life.com. I put a pen-lid over the LED light (although they make light-less ones now I think) and I would hold the vapor in for an extra second. Almost nothing comes out and there's no smell with most flavors. I vaped in stores and restaurants and never got noticed. :)

As far as leaks, you probably want to go with the 2-piece design (battery and cartomizer). I had almost (I do say almost) no leaks with those. Since switching to a mod, leaks are something I have to deal with more often (it's worth it to me now, but it would have been a turn-off if I had started out with a setup like I have now).

You do sacrifice battery life with the penstyle setup, but extra batteries are not that expensive. Be sure to get at least 2. The ones I had would last about 3 or 4 hours.

After you discover the Wonderful World of Vaping, moving on to mods and other setups will probably become an obsession for you like it has for the rest of us.

looks like most of your q have been answered would like to add though depending on what model you use ect there is some things that can be done to prevent leaking on clothes ect. one thing is a small pillbox from the pharmacy or a small altoids tin for holding carts/cartos. the shortest mod I know of is a box mod I think madvapes has them as well as batteries and chargers. the batteries may or may not last all day depending on how much you vape but they do last a good while and they are about the same size as a standard AA battery so they don't take up much room transporting them.

Thanks so much for all the support! This is a very active forum...cool!

I've been smoking for 20+ years now. I'm kind of a closet smoker, hate the smoke and smell and don't really get any satisfaction from smoking...it's just a means of feeding my addiction. I only smoke about 10-15 Marlboro Lights in a day but smoke each one quickly...it's "all business" so 2 minutes tops to finish one.

A few more questions...

1. Is e-liquid sticky? I likely would only want some sort of minty/menthol type of flavors.

2. So, cartos are less likely to leak compared to atomizer/cartridge style setups?

3. I've been looking around at all the suggested products and the E-Power from Vapor Junction does look like a nice product. It's pretty short overall with the CE2 cartomizers. One other hangup I have is I don't like flashy gold stuff...black/gold combos...definitely not my style. I need something all one color, preferably a muted silver or dark/black. Does such a product exist?

4. I think I understand this correctly...there are several "standard" types of thread on the various products...801, 808, 510, etc. Is the 510 the most common or most popular? Would it be a good idea to stick with one type?

Thanks again to everyone for all the replies!

1. yes it is sticky. the vg/pg is just a bit sticky

2. in my experience yes artos leak less and are more reliable

3.never has one of those looks like a cross between a mod and ego. as far as getting a solid color you could get a silver ego. egos seem to have a silver trim on them but if you get silver it will all be one color.

4. you are correct. and personally I would suggest sticking with 510 compatable at least at first so you don't have to bother with new attys and cartos every time you try a new model
