Hi All,

Have not ordered yet but am doing all the research. The final decision and order will be placed this Wednesday. Some really scary stuff out there such as the side effects in the beginning. I'm confused as to how much to use so went in search of info (wow, is that thread a lesson in math!) Finally, which one to invest in, I see the 510 mentioned quite a bit.

I will not do the patch or pills. Odd that I have a phobia of those things but have no problem sucking a carcinogen into my body on a daily basis. The best answer I found on the amount that I need is to start low and then work from there.

A question, do you guys sit there and puff on the ecig as though you've smoked a whole analog or is the premise that you take a few hits until you feel satisfied.

Thanks and looking forward to posting more (hopefully on my success!)

Welcome, Lisa! If you haven't already, read the Wonderful World of Vaping in the ECF Library as it contains a lot of the basic information you'll need to start out.

Personally, other then at work I'm constantly puffing away. I may lay it to the side a minute, but it's usually to be found in my hand.

As to nic levels, I had to up mine when I started to keep the demons (and analogs) at bay. Don't start too low. How much did you smoke?

Do what you feel satisfied with Lisa. That's about the best advice when you're getting started.

Yes, initially I found myself vaping as if it was a timed analog. But, that doesn't last long. Soon you'll find that you may take a hit or three and put the device down. Or, you may find yourself using it twice as long as an analog lasts. There is no set process and you shouldn't feel like you are doing something wrong either way because it's different from the next guy/gal.

The trick is getting off the analogs. Vaping habits will change as time goes on. Many folks, me included, were enamored with the novelty of it at first. And that's okay... whatever works for you. If you've been doing your research I'm sure you've read about "accidental quitters". I'm in that large group too. Best of luck to you.

Personally speaking....I'm a chain vaper....but then at almost 3 packs a day I was a chain smoker ( I never admitted this cuz I didn't light one off the other...but facts are facts LOL)

You'll find what's right for you as time goes by
I think my favorite thing is trying out new flavors ATM...but i'm sure after a while I'll stick to just a few...but I don't always have to have the same flavor all day...love that LOL

Ohhh and welcome! :)

Hi Lisa,

I was a heavy 30- 40 a day roll up smoker until my 510 Titan arrived with some Virginia flavoured juice (high 18mg). That strength was enough to make me instantly stop the analogues (Brit spelling sorry) and I have been vaping for a week now without any desire to roll anything other than my eyes when I see people standing outside in the rain (British summertime) trying to puff on tobacco! :)

I have found that I will sit and have a good old 10 - 15 puffs on my little friend and then put it down for a while, just like a real cig; but I don't seem to be using it anywhere near as often as I rolled up.

A lot of research came back with the general advice to start in the middle somewhere (11mg - 18mg), but it's always going to be as different as we humans and their cravings are.

You will not be disappointed if you buy a 510, but it might be an idea to buy one with the manual battery option. The automatic battery on the 510 is not as restrictive as it can be on other makes, but it can still flicker off during an inhale and spoil the effects.

I love it so much that I have just ordered a Mega Titan 510 as it has a longer battery life and bigger atomisers, with a down side that it will probably be long enough to pole vault with!

Wow, you guys are awesome, I walk away and come back in a few minutes and there you all are! :)

On a typical day I smoke about 2 if not 3 in the morning, 2 on the way to work, I go out 4 times in an 8 hour period (sometimes 5 times depending on the stress of the day) for 1 and then I smoke 2 on the way home. then probably 3 to 4 at night. So in total during the workweek about 15 to 20 per day.

Thennnnnnnnnnn, comes the weekend, ahhhhhhhhh. Ice cold brews and a smoke goes hand in hand. I can smoke 10 to 15 cigarettes on a Friday night alone if the beer is flowing freely. However, Saturday and Sunday will reduce back to the 15 to 20.

Any thoughts with that being said? What I definitely liked hearing is that I am not limited to taking 1 or 2 hits and feeling like I have to put the ecig down. I smoke Merit Ultra Light 100s which really aren't that strong but I don't want to limit myself so much that I just give up and go back to smoking.

I want to thank you all so much for welcoming me and helping me with info. I will be checking out all the info links too.

Well if you havn't decided yet, it really will depend on what you feel like holding I think. As other people said, the eGo and 510 seem to be really popular. I havn't gotten mine yet, but have messed with the ones at the kiosk's in the mall.

I bought the DSE801 for the novelty of the size...some people like the feel of actual cigarettes. Depends on you :p . I think the next one I will be getting is the 510 unless a new model comes out or I am obsessed with my 801 :D

You will find that especially if the bar allows u to vape (some have trouble with this don't know why really....in my state we have the indoor smoking ban and some ppl just don't get it yet LOL) u want to make sure you're stocked with charged batts and juice!! don't wanna run out. But just a little side light...I was really afraid when I decided to do this of not being able to quit cigs, so I got 36mg liquid and still vaped constantly...then went to 24 mg after three weeks cuz i was getting headaches...now I'm down to 18mg and still no desire to smoke!!! You'll notice pretty close to right away that cigs smell bad! and they taste worse! Tried one while waiting for a shipment of juice to arrive and I couldn't even take two puffs...one was enuff to make me gag. 23 yrs of smoking and for the last 10 smoking 3 packs a day and now I haven't had a cig in almost 53 days now. I'm sure you're going to be GREAT (just remember extra batts and juice when doing the bar scene :) )

Most of us that have the Ego started with the 510. 510s are good ecigs, but you end up changing the battery every hour and a half. The Ego battery will easily last you all day at work if you have to go out to smoke and 6-12 hours at home where you are hitting it more heavily (everyone gets different battery life depending on usage). The Ego also produces more vapor than the 510 (at least mine do). You can also use the same atomizer and cartridge on both the 510 and the Ego.

There are PG and VG juices. PG gives you more throat hit and less vapor. VG is a lighter throat hit and lots of vapor. I use both, but frequently I will switch over to VG if PG is irritating my throat. Most days PG is fine, but there are those days when you just want something lighter on the tonsils.

24mg juice is a good starting point. It's better to have stronger juice at first. OD is not such a big deal. You get that a little dizzy like you did when you had your first cigarette. You learn quickly how often is right for you. Ecigs seem to sneak up on you in terms of OD. There's a couple of minutes lag with juice. Cigarettes give you an instant effect.

Hey Lisa,
I've been vaping since last Wed and am loving it. I wasn't sure if my plan was/is to quit or to replace the analogs, but I'm enjoying it for now and will take it as it comes. Right now, I'm just vaping as needed. I picked up a 510 from Awesomevaper.com and went with 18mg samples to start. I found their juice to be a bit harsh, so based on recommendations I've just ordered some Backwoods Brew. That's a downside to all this...choices and new toys to pick from all the time! I'm already thinking my 510 will be replaced with an ego.

For me the early side effects were pretty mild...even though I was vaping like hell the first night my e cig was charged...lol. Sore throat and sometimes a lingering, but slight headache. 5 days in and no more sore throat.

Ok, the final phase of the process is here. The 510 is my beginner's choice although I feel that it probably won't be the end all be all. That's fine though, I can live with that because the overall cost is going to be far less than what I spend on analogues.

So now that I'm there any suggestions as to the best supplier? Is a starter kit recommended? How about prefilled cartridges as opposed to doing it myself? Suggestions on juice? I want to start with tobacco flavored first. I also want medium in terms of the level of nicotine. If I have to increase or decrease that's fine. I think the 501 starter kit as 5 prefilled but it doesn't tell you prefilled with what.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Once I get my order together I'm going to list it out, I am in hopes you guys will steer me in the right direction if I'm missing something.

Finally, sorry for asking so many questions. Oddly enough I head up a help desk and I am all for learning and figuring things out if you can on your own. For some reason this is just overwhelming me a bit, what ecig, batteries, cartridges, ejuice, atomizers, how much to use, etc. I'm sure that I'll make a few mistakes on the road. I'm thankful to you guys. Can you head me to your favorite suppliers?

Thank You

I have found awesomevapor.com to be excellent...(I'm really in love with them today...3 of my fav juices so far and my brand new ego kit I'm in vaping heaven) All I've heard about prefilled carts is not good....I order blank and fill myself. If it doesn't say what flavor it's probably just a tobacco flavor...at least from what I've noticed. If you do get prefilled and don't like what u get in them just take out the filler....dab it on a tissue or paper towel til it's dry and refill the cart and replace the filler...and vape. (anyone think anything is wrong here pls let me know!!!)

Lisa,

You can't go wrong with a 510.I suggest you get the manual battery. I didnt think I would like the manual but once I started using it I was sold.

As far as Nic strength, I smoked a pack and a half a day for 25 years ( 30 cigs, marlb reds for 15 then camel turkish royals for the last 10. ). I started on 36mg and found that too high for me. I bought some 0 nic fluid and cut it down to around 24.

I tried some other models prior to the 510 but I needed to supplement them with an analog now and then ( especially in the mornings ) Since I got my 510 I haven't had nor even wanted an actual cigarette.

Lastly, ask as many questions as you needed and then ask a few more, until you are comfortable with your decision. The people on this forum are OUTSTANDING and have been nothing but supportive. They were a great help to me. I don't think I could have made the switch without them.
