 So I started vaping a little over 3 months ago, so I still consider myself a noob even though I read up on vaping almost everyday. I quit smoking which I thought was impossible and I absolutely love the vapors. But I'm not completely satisfied. I started out (from what a friend recommended mind you) with a starter kit from the puff brand, clearomizer, battery, charger... from a local smoke shop, really cheap and crappy. It leaked and dripped on me and burnt the wicks really quickly. After about a month I was fed up, so I inquired about upgrading or I was gonna go back to analogs. I heard about vapor shop opening up close to me so I went to check it out... they gave me a quick run down of all the things I was doing wrong, which took about an hour. lol. So I went with the kangertech evod battery and tank (which I also made my friend go who recommended me the original kit to go to and upgrade himself, which he is so thankful for).

But now I feel like I want to get into the mods, but I am so overwhelmed with the different kinds and styles and what tank goes with what mod. Does anyone have any advice on a decently priced mod and exactly what tank goes with what? Or what should I do for my first mod, any tips on what to do and what not to do?? I like big clouds and strong hits and I just don't feel like I'm getting that from my current set up. I've adjusted the atomizer and i'm still not satisfied.

Please help, I'm so overwhelmed.

Put away your credit card and step away from the keyboard. Now, take a deep breath and try to relax. If you have a device that allows you to vape rather than smoke your in no immediate danger. What I'm getting at is there is no need to press yourself into a decision, mods are here to stay. I suggest that you don't think in terms of a specific mod just yet. Instead think in terms of, form factor, size, battery capacity, price and aesthetic appeal. In other words what suits you. I know what I like and works for me, but your a different story. I have 2 Provari V2 regular with 18650 batteries and a Zen Sidewinder w/18350 battery. They are a bit pricy, but very reliable and sturdy devices. I'm not suggesting that you run out and purchase one of these devices. What's right for you could be something totally different. Take your time and decide what you want before you pull the trigger. You'll be happy later that you did. Good luck with the journey. :toast:

if you dont want to get into VV/VW look into a mechanical mod. Ive been able to help two friends quit smoking starting with mechs. they both were on a budget of under 100$ one got a sentinel M16 with a helios atty (both clones) and an efest 2100mah 30amp battery, my other friend got the sentinel with a patriot clone and same battery. If your not on too tight of a budget, i picked up a King v1, tugboat and a couple sony vtc4 batteries for about $140. The combo i have throws killer clouds (when built to do that) and gets the throat hit you want without having to use high mg nicotine. The only VV/VW device i will buy in the future is one that i can build down to .5 ohm or lower and that goes up to at least 30watts, just my prefrence. Just take time and research alot of different mods and reviews on those mods. Throw things you like in your cart, and then occasionally review the cart too see what you still like or dont and go from there.

I agree with JimzDogz. Figure out what suits you first. I personally am on my 3rd rig. started with the top coil clearomizer and a 650 mah starter kit. Boy was that wrong for me. Switched to bottom coil from smok tech and a vv mod and quite analogs that day. And now im on to mechanical mods still using the smok tech ebc tanks . I like the ebc because its the only one I have found that doesn't seem to leak or flood as much as some others I have tried. Imo your doing the right thing buy researching . I look and compare for days before I buy any thing. with so many styles and types of mods out there it can be hard to figure out which is the best, and every one has their own opinion on best of the best.

I went cheap with most my purchases, because im a tightwad . Most mechanicals I found are 510 threaded. So if you like EGO style tanks you will need a 510 to ego adaptor . Now if you want to go the dripping way and build sub ohm coils with a RDA most of them are 510 threaded so no adapter needed. I found my biggest mistake in mechanical mods was wrong battery choice. So choose wisely. I recommend IMR flat top batteries, and a TrustFire TR-001 Battery Charger.

So good luck in your quest . And once you find THE ONE, you will be very satisfied with it.

I always give people the same advice on starting unless they have an idea as to what they are looking at. It's the MVP2.0 a whole lotta bang for a whole little buck.
It's variable voltage and wattage. It's durable; I mean it's built like a tank, it's a huge battery at 2600 mah, and it's accurate, it's a high frequency as in close to dc, and it holds up great!
For 40 bucks it can't be best in my opinion; it helped myself and my fiancé quit.

I also advise people to go ahead and spend 20 bucks more and get an aerotank allowing them to adjust their draw with the airflow control as well as since it's glass no worries on the corrosive juices.

I got that exact Same setup after trying all sorts of other gear; but, It wasn't until that same setup that I saw the true potential of gaping and put down the cigs. I've had it for 6 months now and still love it.

If you have a good vape shop nearby go look, hold, test and see what works for you. Why get a square when a tube mod might be more what you like or maybe a square like the MVP is more your style. Same with toppers. Try cartos, clearos, drippers, Take your time and get as much info as you need before you're comfortable pulling the trigger. 99% of it is personal preference

Between my wife and I we own:
8 Vamo v2, v3, v5
1 Provari Mini
1 Inokin 134 Mini
1 Inokin VRT
1 Sigelei Zmax v3
1 Evic
1 Handmade VV wood box
2 Private v2 (mech mod)
So yeah I would definitely say, decide what you want then go buy it. Shopping gets expensive!
Just get a VV/VW mod for starters. Then if study up before you jump to mech mods. IMO

Being a relatively new vaper, I recommend getting a regulated variable voltage mod before getting a mechanical mod. To enjoy the fullest potential of a mechanical mod you have to do sub-ohm coils on a rebuildable atomizer - not something I'd suggest for a novice as these are more for advanced vapers.

A mechanical mod has no protection built-in. A regulated VV mod will have a circuit board/mini computer which will protect you against short circuits, over-discharging your batteries, reverse battery protection, and a timed limit of firing the power switch. It will prevent itself from firing the atomizer, protecting itself, the battery, and you.

You'll also be able to adjust the voltage/wattage higher or lower to suit your taste. Each flavor's "sweet spot" in voltage is different from another. A mechanical mod will only be able to put out what the battery voltage happens to be.

I have 20+ PV's mostly mechs but some mods, spent hundreds on my quest of finding the best vape possible. My wife has 1 mod...a pink provari and its been her only PV, she hasn't had no problems with it, takes it to work every day, its over a year old, still going strong and looks good also. I get to fiddle and fuddle all my mechs to make them work at their best but she has done nothing but clean her battery contacts. I finally bought myself a black provari and for the last 4 months its been my all day PV. I still use my other PV's but always nearby sits my provari with a PT2 on it.

I loved my Provari, and my MVP2.0 was very good as well. Personally, I settled on a Reo and couldn't be happier.

If you truly want a superb vape that is a powerful, convenient, grab and go, indestructible package, a Reo is a fine choice. But be warned. A Reo is a mechanical device and mechanical mods REQUIRE a solid knowledge of battery safety. Once you become aware of the batteries that are on the market and what they are and are not capable of, then you can look in to a mechanical. Wrapping coils is a lot of fun and playing with new and creative builds has become something of a hobby for me. Heck, I even make my own juice! But this is a topic that needs to be understood very well to be a safe part of your daily routine. Baditude has numerous blogs that will tell you all you need to know

(psst, bad, "nudge")

If you take the time to learn about this stuff, you can really open the doors to some real satisfaction. Take it from me, it's worth it to learn how to be safe with a mechanical device, because my opinion is that my Reo outsnuffs everything out there (repeat, my opinion/preference) because it is powerful, it's simple, and it's as reliable as a Provari. Also, if you don't want to get in to rebuildables, you can still use cartomizers on a Reo. You still get fresh juice every time, just in a tiny package. I've never tried a carto on my Reo, but if I wanted to, I could. This is how I run mine

If you are anything like me, you'll end up with a lot of dust-catchers. No one's written word will replace the only real review and that will be, "Do you like the feel and the taste?" You might try a Sigelei Z-Max V2 which is regulated and can adjust watts or volts. It is not too expensive, gives a wide range of settings, lets you use several different atomizers and if you move to more then you are not out a pile of money. However, you may never change - my daughter sill uses an Ego "twist" battery like she started with a year or so ago; she remains happy with it and what else matters?

I would get for a mod the china version of the 30 watt capable box mod. Great build and quality, simply love this box mod. A good tank to go with it would be the Russian/Kayfun, Tailfun, Flash-e-Vapor, magma. Those are rebuildable atomizers, rba's. If not ready to build, then something like the Aspire Nautilus may fit your vape needs.

Get a Hana/cana clone and an rba, once you have it powerlocked at 30 watts, you'll have some serious vape. Damn, time to refill tank.
