So, last night my friends MVP 2 got stolen (we believe) or he lost it on his adventure last night..with all evidence adding up, we think his ex stole it. Anyways, he brought up the smartest idea! Someone needs to invent a tracker that can sync up with your phone. So if you lose it, it can track it and you can find it. Not in just MVP's but any AVP mods that could possibly handle the technology.
What do you think? It would sure take away the stress of losing it in your bed and not finding it in the morning. Maybe add in a little tracker speaker or something. Or have it light up and flash! Ideas? I'm on the road to finding a technology genius.

Are we in agreement? We need some smart people!

I thought of that in my thread :)

I am just trying to make a fun post, I will probably fail :( but here it goes.

Take a mod maybe it's your favorite maybe not but suppose you were picked by a vendor to make a new Version what would you add too or remove from the design?

Here's mine:

ProVari V3.5 I just think the 3.5 looks cooler then 3.0

VW just to shut ProVari haters up :glare:
Personal Laser Engraving of costumers name or at least 3 Letters:2cool:
PUFF Counter how else would I make it into the Guinness book of world records?:vapor:
Solar Panel
lol Hey this is pretend right?
GPS Chip in case I lose it I can find it with my smartphone.

Hey in fact they do have them new wrist watches that connect to your smartphone why not make it have,
Bluetooth to connect to my smartphone, it's hard to hold phone and ProVari to text and vape

The Design would be the same as the mini no more crop circles.

The GPS idea is awesome It technically wouldn't even be all that hard to do, really. Though, it would eat up battery life like no tomorrow. I don't know if I'm willing to sacrifice the MVP's insane battery life even to find it if it were to get...borrowed. HOWEVER, what WOULD be awesome, if it did have GPS and at least RECEIVE TEXT possibility, you could download something like Lookout, and then text your apv to tell it to turn on GPS like I do with my phone with a keyword. AMAZING idea.

In that case they should put in a separate battery(smaller of course) strictly for the GPS and can only be turned on when activated by your phone or whatever you have connected to it:)

Tile

There is a new tracking device called the Tile which does exactly what you're talking about. You would have to attach the tile to the device, or possibly embed it... And then if you lose it, fire up the app, and it shows you where it is. You can also trigger it to beep, so you can hear it if it's not easily visible.

It's pretty new for now, but I'd bet if the technology takes off, it's something that can be added to just about any portable device...

Is this for APV's in general? Whatever it may be, do you have a link you could link to me so I could check it out. That would be way rad..but I'm sure e-cig companies would make a hell of a lot more designing on with an APV's personal needs.

@dam178 I just don't like the idea of having to replace it. A GPS chip isn't that big, but the fact that it does run on a separate battery is great. If they could make them smaller, and less bulky, I'd be all over that. I might buy a few and see if I can deconstruct them, see if they can go down any smaller. /nodnod

There is a link to their web site at the top of the post :) Where it says "Tile" in blue... It's about the size of a postage stamp, and a little thicker than an SD Card. You can attach it to anything... Keys, your purse... Put it inside a wallet. A laptop, iPad... whatever you want...

How much is a new mod and how much would such a thing add to the price? It might just be easier and cheaper to buy a new mod when you lose or it is stolen. MVP is a pretty cheap low end device its also a throw away as there in no replacement battery. I think your more interested in proving the EX stole it vs coming up with a practical idea. You anger and suspicion is influencing you thoughts.

We will be deploying these on our laptops, tablets and phones at work eventually. Maybe I can lose one on my MVP and give it a test spin.

Hell, I spent the last 5 years of my drinking trying to find my car! Loosing a PV would have been no problem at all. (parking lot behind Brewskis is huge)
A GPS chip wouldn't do a bit of good because my phone would be laying right beside my PV ............ somewhere

I got a finder and 4 fobs from Sharper Image about 10 or more years ago. It has a base station, though, and the little tags are about three times thicker. Works pretty well but is only for close range and the trackers just beep. I use them on drink bottles that I'm always misplacing outside.

On the other hand I have a real GPS for my dogs that attaches to collar. Log on to phone app and get exact location within a few yards, unlimited range in US. It, too, is larger than the Tile but not too large even for smallish dogs. (My smallest are 54 lb Heelers and up to English Mastiff size. It's tiny for his size. Main problem with it is yearly subscription fee and I can't put it on my swimming dogs.

    Great concept and price.

    Thanks.

I was actually looking into the tile because my wife works with domestic violence victims and was concerned it could be used by stalkers. What my research indicates is it doesn't actually have any tracking in itself. It syncs to your phone with blue tooth and if you lose it, you can tell where it was the last time it was in range of the phone.
