How close are you snipping the cotton against the side of the atty? Are you doing it as short as how they come pre-wrapped? I just put all new o-rings on last night and so far no leaks. I rewick tight but not too tight that I cant pull it back and forth.

I appreciate you taking the time to go over everything with me.
It isn't a problem ;)

I cut mine slightly longer than what the CLR come standard, only because I don't see a reason to cut them any shorter and I just use scissors for convenience.

If you are using the standard CLR coils, just lay a very small amount of cotton/rayon on top of the coil and then put the cap back on. That will actually do two things:
1. If it's leaking because there is not enough wicking material, well you've just added a bit more;
2. It'll expose the coil to more liquid and produce more vapour.

Actually I don't use their cotton. I take out the cotton that comes with the CLR coil and replace it with KGD and I also snip it off a little longer than they come. I will try adding the little piece of cotton on top. I'm also going to try Native Wicks Cotton next week. I heard good reviews on that. I will also loosen the top cap a tiny bit when I go to fill it in a minute :)

How did it go?
Well, I changed the 2 top o-rings on the base, (someone told me the stock ones aren't very good at all). And I made sure that I didn't put the cap on the coil tight like you said, I actually left it kind of loose and I have to say no leaks since I did both. The silicone cap broke again so the outer top part of it fell off but the inner silicone part that goes into the cap stayed on so I left it that way and no leaks. Not sure why they are breaking. I spoke with joyetech and they said they have had a few customers complain about them breaking. They are going to send me a few more and they will probably start selling just the silicone caps in the future. Thanks for all your help. I'll keep you informed over the next week to see how it's going. Have a good rest of your weekend!

PS. I'll try and post a pic of how the silicone caps are breaking.

@gt_1955 here is a picture of how the silicone cap breaks. Obviously the one on the left is the broken one and the one on the right is a new one.

TBH, that looks as if the silicon cap is being cut by the air tube (either because it's being done up too tight, or because there is a sharp edge on the air tube).
I thought the same thing, but it's happening on both of my eGrips. I really don't over tighten them. I guess I'l just have to play around and see.

Hi everyone, i finally got my cl base for my old egrip. Had to re wick it to meet 1.4ohms. However even after putting the silicone cap on the top, it won't screw in fully. The base leaves a gap, it protrudes by a few mm. Woke up this morning to notice the whole tank had leaked :( as I'm assuming the base wasn't flush.

Any ideas why it won't go in fully?

I haven't used the CL base in a v1 eGrip but I did have a problem at first getting the base to screw in firmly on my OLED. I had to change the 2 o-rings and that seemed to make it screw in better and stopped all the leaks.

Yep, that's what I'd do too ;)

(Or even leave the very top o-ring off)

On the CL base in my V1 eGrip, it ripped the top o-ring too. I have just left it off, and the base screws in easier. If it isn't screwed in all the way, it'll leak and empty the tank.

Have you used carto tanks? If you have, and the o-rings at the top was buggered, the tank leaked because it couldn't maintain a vacuum above the juice in the tank. Same deal here.
