Since (for me, as a MTL vaper) the GS tank is the "perfect" topper...and since TC heads are available for the GS tank...I, too, have been looking for an "inexpensive" TC Mod.

I've got it narrowed down to the iPV D2 and the TC40W istick.

They're very close in size and somewhat close in price.

The TC40W has a 2600mAh built-in battery while the iPV D2 uses a replaceable 18650.

Was it the replaceable 18650 that led you to chose the iPV D2...or was it something else???

I'd go with the D2, I don't love the istick 40 so far. The temp control seems to struggle. I have had a lot of trouble with fluctuating coil ohms reading. I spend a lot of time adjusting the temp to match the new reading. My evic VT works much better I set it and forget it, I lock the ohms and it never changes.

I just ordered an IPV4s to check out their temp control. I have heard good things and the price is good right now.

Try not filling it too much if you're using the "factory built" coils....may help, I know the 1.5ohm coil leaked bad on mine.
If using the RBA... try to install the coil, install the sleeve, put a screwdriver through the juice hole and align the coil with the hole.
Then install the wick through the hole and coil out the other side. Cut the wick just past even (sticking out) and fluff the ends.
Pre-juice the wick, install the cap, and fill your tank to the line on the stem.
Screw on your tank, wait about 15-30 minutes....NOW you're ready and should have no leaks....this is working great for me so far.....Vape on :vapor:
Tell us more Skunks'. What build, wicking, VG% and max wattage.

Here's where I'm at with the RBA...

I can build it so it won't leak

I can build it so it won't dry hit at random moments

Can't quite split the difference and do both at the same time... maybe I'll try skunk's method
Hope you get it figured out, it's pretty simple. Maybe I missed it, but what VG ratio are you running? I have to add two drops of water per full tank of 70% or it doesn't wick very well with organic cotton.

I run about 68-70% VG. Yea, maybe a little thinning is in order

Been hitting the max VG here lately 80/20 stuff.
5/6 wrap on a 2.5mm rod of 26ga @ .8Ω and 17w is giving me nice flavor and clouds.
Japanese cotton
I lung hit (air wide open) but not chain vapeing either. (2-3 hits and back in pocket for a few)

Loving mine. I go between the STM and Herakles tanks on it. I mainly got it for the dual batt 120 watt action. But TC is seemingly solid as a rock.

Really looking closely at the D2. Seems a bit redundant though, beings I already have an SX Mini. But it's really hard not to pull the trigger at 43.06 from Slowtech... I mean really, it is all black. Lol

I started boredom building again. Playing around with 26g, I built a dual coil setup on a Youde Igo W6 and a parallel coil on the Tugboat v2. Then I got bored and built a prototype portable build box. Not done with the finish but the general idea is pretty solid. What do you guys think? Kbox mini for perspective.

I think boredom can sometimes promote creativity.
In your first photo, is that the blivey magic mushroom wicking technique?

hahaha your igo reminds me of this:

cool box, B! :thumb: You can maybe even put teeny tiny rubber grommets on the side to feed the wires through:

or solid rubber caps then poke the holes out with a needle.
 It does bear an uncanny resemblance. Those grommets are a great idea.

That was my idea of creative wicking. I needed a good juice supply to the top of the coils because they run really hot. Now I can just drip on the 'mushroom' and the excess runs to the bottom. It works amazingly well.

looks pretty good for a basic tool kit.
i wont even talk about my kit, i have a problem with buying more tools >.>
just this week i've gotten 5 more things for my kit. i keep this up im going to actually need a mechanics style tool box for it all.
but yeah it looks good, the only thing i would say to add is an ohms meter.
