I've got it down to less than 14w using OCC 1.5ohm coil. I ordered max vg eliquid from a company I haven't ever used. Brand new tank brand new liquid. Finally tried the eliquid in a dripper it is very good. So I put a little distilled water in the tank. It helps a little. Guess I'll order at least 50/50 next time.

Try it with the .5 coil, the juice hole is a bit wider and can wick high VG juice a bit better. I also had a problem with a few coils that were bad and had trouble with dry hits, bought a new pack of coils and the problem went away. So it is possible you just have a bad coil.

Thank you. I put the 0.5Ω coil back in and it tastes really good at 25w no dry hits.

Anyone having trouble with dry hits on the Subtank mini?

If you're talking about the tank that comes with the subox, dry hits are common when I was using the rba maybe ill be better when I go back to tinkering with it

The coils are good as long as you prep them properly. The 0.5 ones are what you want, the others are garbage.

Obviously drop juice in the side and top holes, let it sit in the tank for atleast 15+ mins (2 vapes is a good thing).

Most important part - start at around 15w and take about 10 hits (not long ones), bump it up to 16 or 15.5, repeat until you get to however high you want to go.

Take your time and do it right or get that horrible burnt taste and burnt crap in your coil.

Also do it with the matching subox battery, I have an eleaf istick 30w and I have heard it "averages" the watts it reads, meaning it can fry the coil easier (I suspect)

This and better advice has probably been said hundresd of times here just starting reading the thread

Folks, just got mine today. Went straight to the RDA (didn't bother with the OCC coils... :D) and wicked it good (Rip Tripper being of great help in this regard ;) ). First serious wick after wicking some H2 coils (nasty stuff, thin wire, impossible to do a decent wick). No dry hits, no burnt taste. Went to 35W on a mix of about 83% VG, ~10% water and 6-7% PG. (Not sure about the VG/others ratio of the flavor I use.) Nice clouds, good flavor. In other words, PERFECT. No leaks, no problems.

Worth noting is that the mod still does not come with spring pin. Mine was shipped from fasttech on Aug. 21.

V1 or V2? The V1 OCC Coils cotton is way too dense for high VG, I rewick them even when new for better flavor and vapor... If re-wicking new coils make sure to add some liquid before removing the old cotton, I just use VG, makes them a lot easier to remove.

The RDA part is V2 with the 2 round holes in it so I think the coils are too.
The 0.5Ω coil is good. The 1.5Ω is the one I was getting dry hits from anything over 14watts. I might try to re-wick it.

I haven't tried re-wicking the V2 coils yet let me know how it goes :)

Keep in mind though the 1.5 coils are for mtl, more of a tootle thing. But the same was said for the V1 1.2 coils and after re-wicking I can get nice flavorful lung hits @27.5w

Although I have this I am off on a long journey tomorrow. Will it charge through the 12v socket in the car? I have a phone charger that works and has the same mini usb. Thanks. James
Check the output amperage rating on the cable.
If it's 1 amp or less at the same voltage it should be alright.
The batteries that have exploded in cars did so because ppl used phone chargers with the wrong rating.

You don't have spare batteries that you can use until you get to a wall socket?

I was planning on using the cable that came with it. I have two batteries on the go and usually use a wall charger. Off to a theme park tomorrow and planning for the "flat battery x2" nightmare that's all. Trying to keep my options open without any exploding batteries, melting chargers or melting cars lol

This would be the mods fault, a device should definitely not be able to pull more amperage from a charger than it is designed for. If it's a 0.8 amp charging circuit it should only draw 0.8 amps, even from a 4 amp charger.

I think I read somewhere though (probably about a different mod  ) that the built in limit will only limit so much. If the charger is rated higher than the built in limiter can handle, it won't be able to stop it from taking in more than it needs to. I heard too not to go over 1A on a single-USB charger, so even one for an iPad (2.1A) might be to high. Conversely, I wouldn't go below 1A - some of the ones rated at 0.5mAh don't actually deliver the whole 0.5mAh, which could be bad for the mod too. So yeah, hahaha just try to get one that's 1A.

Please share the wicking tips. I finally built my 1st successful coil but sometimes get bad burnt/dry hits at 30 watts (coil is .7ohm)
