To the experienced coil builders for the subtanks only:

Have you had any luck with micro coils, if so what diameter, gauge, and wraps to stay around .5 ohms?

When I first purchase my 2mm Kuro koiler I tried a few different builds and had problems with burnt Cotton and bad flavor. I switched to building really ugly coils on machine screws which more closely resemble the stock Kanger coils, open, not tight (macro)? coils.

Do tight wound micro coils work in this RBA?

I do 6 wraps of 26 gauge with a 2.5mm rod, which gives a resistance of about .6 ohms, micro coil which works well for me, I have the cotton pretty tight in the coil, but snip the ends short so they only just touch the deck, I also cut some cotton off the top, so there isn't as much cotton coming down to the deck.

I thought I'd chime in about the coil names, just for reference.
There really isn't a name for coils that aren't tightly wrapped together, other than calling them 'normal' or 'spaced', though I most often hear the two terms together, i.e. "Not a microcoil, but a normal, spaced coil". A 'Macro coil' is also tightly wrapped, just like a microcoil, but it has a much larger inside diameter. Microcoils are generally around 1.5 or 2.5mm ID, while macros are generally 3mm or more. Nano coils are 1mm or less, and are usually wrapped around a large gauge needle, then pushed down to rest on top of the wicking material, which is spread out over the surface of the build deck.

Is this with the new RBA?

Might as well call that the official name so there's no more confusion for the new kids like myself. Now you need to name the tight ones.

lol...So be it - Loosie Coils

    bwahahahahaaaa...

the only thing that comes to mind for tight coils is tighty windies

I swear I'm the world's worst googler... Has there been a release date set for the version 2 yet? I'd love to have a subox kit, but not without the spring loaded pin. Is there a preorder anywhere that I'm missing?
Tag @blivey she seems to know everything before the masses in regards to Kanger and she'll be the best resource I believe. IIRC end of July?

Getting back to your question @SUPER K ... Avoiding all of the micro/macro/nano jargon, I build 2 types of coils. A "spaced" coil, where the wraps don't touch, like the one included in the Subox kit, and a "compressed" coil, where all the wraps are touching each other. If you want to build something similar to the coil included in the kit, 5 wraps of 26G will get you a ~0.6 ohm coil. If you're getting burnt hits and bad flavor, you may be choking the cotton and it's not able to keep up with juice demand. There's a really good thread that discusses the issues you're having here.

That is my exact setup on the v2 rba
