is anyone experiencing problems with this item? a friend has one and it keeps shutting off and resetting. any input?

Either a very bad battery, or a faulty unit.
Like most, only the 510 pin getting pushed down is my only issue, but I have a small screwdriver to pry it up if I want to use one of my Kayfuns.....Which have no airflow compared to the SBM.

I had similar problems with just one of my Sony batteries, the lip on the battery cover would momentarily lift the battery and cut power. It was caused by pulling the battery straight out from the bottom, slightly deforming the wrapping on the battery to where it caused a small ridge which caught on the battery door ledge. Now I lift the battery up against its spring loaded negative and then pull the positive end outward.

Have him remove the door and see what the battery is doing . Make sure it has full contact with the positive and negative. If it still shuts off , my ideas are out the window.

I gotta chime in here to say wow. This new rba base is the best thing since sliced bread. Used up the stock coils on it, not bad at all. Twisted up 2 stands of 28g and 1 strand of 32. Think around 2mm ID with 5/6 wrap. Came to .6ohm.
Flavor is great, vapor is amazing. Still breaking it in, so it'll only get better!
I need more STM

I am SO freaking blown away right now. I am usually very eloquent and have no problem coming up with words to let just about anyone know how I feel. Not so much right now. I always knew you guys were awesome just because you stuck around here for 3 months and went through 134 pages of amazing, but this is something else. I am blown away. THANK YA'LL so much. And for those who weren't in on it and are probably thinking I am insane right now, this is what I woke up to this morning

this was in the box

and of course I filled it with red. Unicorn Blood. The best way to quench any sword is in the blood of your enemies and you all know the unicorns have been plotting and scheming for years.

looks sick. check your pin to see if it gets pushed down by the tank. just be on the safe side for warranty issues. hope yours works great. The whites seem to have fewer problems than the blacks... oops that sounded unintentionally racist. The white MODS i mean.

For those using the RBA - what's the highest wattage you can use?

I'm using the stock coil that came installed and probably put too much cotton in it. Anyways it works alright from 20 watts to around 25 but not that much flavor, after that I get awful dry hits.

Haven't had time to cut the cotton shorter or just put in a new one.

I also have the RBA for the Delta II tank, may try that barely used it since I got it.

On that note what's a good way to clean flavors out of your tanks? The Subtank is easier as it comes apart.

I have been soaking in hot water and vinegar, what method do people use?

Thanks

depending on your coil build you can go quite high wattage. I usually build my stm rbas at just around .5ohm and run it 25-30 watts. But with lower ohms you could go higher watts.
dry hits are all about how you are wicking it. The new rba I haven't quite figured out proper wicking yet, but on my old stm rbas with pancake wicking i basically never get dry hits.

For cleaning tanks i usually just fully break apart the tank and soak it in hot water. I really havent had issues with flavors holding in the tank. Thats kinda the best part about an all glass and steel tank.

View attachment 469934I picked up a daily pill box from wally world for 88 cents. Rubbed the lettering off with solvent, and repurposed into a coil organizer. No more flavor ghosting for this guy!
so... organized.
I just run multiple tanks with different flavors, and rebuild rbas and rdas between flavor changes.
you make me feel unorganized.

if the mod gets bumped the battery can disconnect and reconnect, causing it to power back on. takes about 2 seconds and it should save your settings. so that shouldnt be much of an issue. If its resetting settings, or happening without the battery moving, might want to do a warranty claim.

Well, low res builds for high wattage applications has some truth to it but not as much as the vaping gear manufacturers would have you believe. They are just pushing our shinyitis buttons with new lower and lower ohm coils when all the time it's the increased airflow and juice flow in their designs that's producing higher wattage capabilities imo. I can vape my unmodified STminis at 45w with builds ranging from .3-1.4 ohms with no problem because I have several regulated devices that will put out 8 volts. With mech mods you HAVE to have low res for high wattage because of the 4.2v volt limitation. With the subox mini anything from .3-1.6 ohms will get you the full 50w from the device according to the specs.

That said, low res builds typically use fatter wire which helps with wick to wire surface area contact; a definite contributor to successful higher wattage vaping, but the biggest factor is airflow and juice flow imo.

Just thought I'd throw this out there for newer vapers......

agreed.
imo wicking and airflow have more to do with the enjoyability of my vape than the resistance.
