I got mine. For priming, I simply filled, pressed down the top cap, took a couple of dry puffs, and started vaping. Easiest priming ever! The draw is a bit tight for me. The vapor production is decent. The flavor is good for a carto, but I'm used to kayfun & Taifun clones, which I think are better. Overall, it's nice to be using my IBTanked tank again - especially for caustic juices that I don't want to put in the Kayfun and Taifun clones windowless. Best carto I've ever used.

You aren't referring to the filler-less carto are you?

So, it's a regular carto in all respects 'cept there's no filler material... at all?

You aren't referring to the filler-less carto are you?

Yeah, it's the XL Nitro DCT 1.8 Ohm version. There's no filler, but since I'm not sure what else is going on inside, I don't know to what extent it is, otherwise, like a regular carto other than the lack of filler material.

Generally I would use a tank tool to fill so as to avoid the pressure when putting on the top cap, thus flooding the carto, but in this case, I used the pressure of applying the top cap precisely to prime it, along with a couple of primer dry hits. It has been working quite nicely. I haven't had very good luck with priming cartos in the past, so that was a big deal for me. This thing hits as good as any carto that I've ever used, but where it shines - to me - is the apparent ease of priming; I say "apparent" simply because I've only done it once.

Also, for those Provari users, since I don't yet have the IBTanked Provari ring (I'm waiting for it to ship still), and my Tatroe Provari ring leaves quite a gap, I grabbed the tank ring from a Fogger 3 to use as a ring, since it's 23mm and just fits over the 22mm tank. Good stuff in a pinch, anyway, and while it doesn't look tremendous, to me it does look better than having a gap.

I had tried a fillerless carto once before - a couple of Ravens or something like that, and they sucked...never got them to work right. I've vaped 1/3 of a tank so far, and the performance of the Nitro seems to only be getting better.

Thanks Sed,
I wasn't sure what carto you were referring to. I think I used the Raven, I guess is what it was called a couple of years back and had bad results from it.. I was kind of apprehensive about these before ordering.. Glad to hear they are working for you..
I have been waiting a week after ordering to get these. Maybe tomorrow..

These might be like a disposable Sophia or Diver type RTA. Says it's bottom coiled, like the Sophia and Diver and they are filler-less. I was thinking why there wasn't a disposable for those that don't want to rebuild as they very simple devices. Now I'm going to have to buy some just to check them out.

ETA: Sounds like they work on vacuum too. Just like the Sophia or Diver. I'd like to see the inside to see what it looks like.

Yeah, the Raven - or whatever it was - really sucked...but I trust Isaac and figured that a 5 pack to try wouldn't break the bank. Now that I've vaped over half a 22mm XL tank, the vape is not as satisfying to me as my Kayfun and Taifun clones, but I didn't buy these expecting as good of a vape. Rather, I bought them so that I could use my IBTanked glass tank with more caustic liquids since I can't stand using a windowless setup with my rebuildables. That, and I wanted to have a carto tank available as backup if and only if priming wasn't going to be an issue - which, so far, it's not. I would prefer a single coil carto, though - I'm just never had as good results with dual coil cartos.

I think that it would be awesome if Issac & Co. got to work on a rebuildable carto that does not require non-resistance wire...

Other "dream" projects would be to have IBTanked put together a killer glass upgrade for the Kayfun and Taifun tanks, and having Zen from House of Hybrids design and manufacture a "next generation" Kayfun/Taifun hybrid type device. While I'm at it, I'd love to see Provape put out a 26650 Provari that does 40 watts (not necessarily VW, though) and is safe down to .5 Ohms. Oh heck, I'm gonna grab me some Aerosmith and "dream on" for a while..."Clark" Kent at Nicoticket doing an Elderberry Jelly with Philly Cream Cheese e-juice would be nice...maybe a collaboration between a bunch of folks to put together a 26650 squonk machine designed by REO & Zen using an Evolv DNA 40 chip, but made by Provari with a hybrid top for a Zen designed squonk atty.

...at least today I'm using a carto for the first time in nearly 6 months - and I'm enjoying it! :)

I think Issac is doing the right thing concentrating on disposables. There's always going to be a market for disposable cartos or something like them as there are many that don't want to rebuild.

I'm surprised there aren't any killer glass upgrades for the Kayfun/Taifun tanks. You've really got some dreams there.

Yeah, Isaac is certainly filling a niche, for sure, and there are glass upgrades for the Kayfun - not sure about the Taifun, but the Kayfun glass upgrade, as far as I know, hasn't hit the States yet.

some up close pics to better understand the filler less...

down the barrel...

100_6026_A_zps61b41bc9.jpg

you can see the metal insert that provides leakage stopping power.

a different angle so you can see the breather tube a little better...

100_6015_A_zpsdb8d7c33.jpg

and here you can see the slits that help the insert be placed and where the wick and coil is placed as well as what looks to be a silicone insert to keep the juice from creeping up the tube...

100_6024_zps95c23b79.jpg

looks like there's just a thin channel around the wick area that allows the juice to feed at about hole height to the wick.

***************************************

i get a little gurgling after it sitting vertical for a while and moreso after it sitting horizontal. normally after a couple puffs it goes away.

i'm using pretty much VG juice and priming took quite a few primer puffs. liquid went in immediately and once i thought i may be flooded apparently the wick wasn't completely soaked and i got a few burnt hits. i was stuck at 3.3 volts for a while. i presume this wouldn't be the case with higher pg or if i'd waited a little longer for the VG to soak in a little longer.

i also got inconsistent hits at first. some would be tight draw, some would be loose. when the draw was tight i would have to turn the power down or things would burn. when the draw was loose, the hit was plentiful in the vapor department. now that it's broken in, the draw is nice and loose and my power is turned up.

these things definitely don't need the power of cartos with filler.

mine are low resistance DCTs.

i also have the single coil nitros with filler. they seem to be working fantastically with 50/50 juice and producing tons and tons of flavor with more than favorable vapor. not sure which is producing better vapor, but i'd give the flavor edge to the nitros with filler.

now that the DCT is broken in and consistent, i'd give both types a very obvious edge up in the performance department over boge and smok cartos. though, the DCT seems to have a muted flavor... BUT!!! that may be because my taste buds are rejecting my ADV that i've lowered the flavoring on to use in my RDA... double whammy on the flavor monsters, so it might not be the cartos at all... the jury's still out.

until i have a chance to try the DCTs with a higher pg mix that's not my ADV and the regulars with a high VG juice, the jury's still out as to which one's better. although, i've been very forthcoming and critical here, i'd still highly recommend either... with the edge going to the regular single coil units until i can confirm the flavor perception i'm getting.

DISCLAIMER: obviously none of us have long term usage of any of these so pending how long they last, all could still change... (redundant) obviously...

Anyone have a link to purchase for these?

Also...how do they compare to "SMOKtech Nickel Mesh DCT-2-A Tank Carto Single Coil 2.0ohm"? ("a very unique, even evolutionary approach for tank cartos in that it utilizes a fillerless environment employing the use of a horizontal nickel mesh positioned in the carto in much the same way as an atomizer.")

have not tried the smoktech DCT cartos. though, they seem a bit on the pricey side. even ikenvape can be ~30% pricier than other acceptable options. though, when they're good, it seems the quality is there... also seems isaac stands behind is products. still "negotiating" the 50 bad platinums i'm sitting on, but he has made an offer, so we'll see.

here's a link to the nitro line up... NITRO SERIES

Anybody tried the mini nitros yet? I can't find much info. They look like the smoktech super shorty, hopefully with improved ikenvape coils?

i would personally assume they're the exact same thing as the xl nitros i have with filler. the XLs are working fantastically with 50/50 pg/vg juice in the wifes prothingy. vapes like a dream....
