Best of luck on your journey. I feel there are a few things I do with vaping that really keep my off of the analogs.

The biggest thing for me was to always use my e-cig in situations where I would normally smoke, and to use it in the exact same way you would a normal cig. What I mean by that is, say you used to light up first thing in the morning. Well tomorrow morning, go to the same place you used to smoke your morning cig, and smoke your morning e-cig instead. Cup of coffee and the paper kind of guy? Fire up that e-cig. And try to keep it to the same amount of time it takes you to smoke a cigarette. When you're at work, step outside to the smoking den and spend 5 minutes puffing on your e-cig. After a delicious meal, go outside and hit your e-cig for 5 minutes. I went so far as to roll down the window in my car when I was smoking it at first. The idea for me was to do literally EVERYTHING the same way I would do it when I was smoking a cigarette. Cigarettes, for me at least, were as much a habit and a ritual as they were an addiction. So by repeating the same habits/rituals, just with an e-cig, I found over time my brain learned to replace the desire for smoke with the desire for vapor.

One of the biggest ones for me was out at a bar having a few drinks with my smoking buddies, I would step outside with them every time they went and pull out my big, obnoxious, and slightly embarrassing e-cig, and smoke it until they were done with their analogs. Get used to answer questions and letting people try it; that will happen a lot. But what I'm getting at is any time you would have a real cig, have an e-cig instead. And slowly you'll start to appreciate things like not having to go outside (especially for me since I live in MN and it's about 3 degrees outside today) every time you want to smoke, not having to roll down the windows in your car. Then you'll start to notice your car doesn't smell as bed. Nor do your clothes, or your house, or your breath. Eventually food will start to taste better. And every once in awhile, if you feel like you just need a real cigarette, I say go for it. Maybe that's bad advice, but it worked much better for me to ween than it did to just stop smoking altogether. My biggest turning point was when I went 5 days of vaping without a real cigarette, and then I broke down and had one. It tasted disgusting, it made me feel disgusting, and I didn't even finish it. I knew then that I was ready to commit.

Just another in a long series of rants. Hope this helps.

Also, as far as equipment goes, get something that will hit hard (like a real cig) and last long. It is a PITA trying to figure out what works and what doesn't, how to use this or that, what flavors, what nicotine strengths, etc. A good middle ground for me was the Ego Twist 900 mah with clearomizers and 15-18mg nicotine, 50/50 vg/pg. Just be careful not to fill the clearomizer past the line, and don't let it get too empty. If you can find a local store that specializes in e-cigs, they're usually pretty good about walking you through the in's and out's of Ego systems. Just make sure you have a few back-up batteries and clearomizers, a back-up charger, and a few different flavors of juice. Not an expert by any means, just I guy with an opinion and time on my hands. If I had to start over again, I would probably buy this Vamo thing I am trying to buy right now. But that's not for everyone methinks. Best of luck.

Welcome RP. There are a few vendors left that carry the 4081 cartomizers Low Resistance 4081 Cartomizers . Basically, if you are looking at a SI Volt, you are better off using your 4081 until it dies. The Volt battery is not much better battery than a 4081, maybe a few more Milliamps. IMHO i would recommend an ego or riva carto kit from Liberty-Flights when you are ready for the next step up. It's K.I.S.S. in my book. Don't spend gobs of money on mods right away. I still reach for my regular ego and get tons of satisfaction from it, it's basic and fiddle free. Vape On ! :)

Wow, thank you all for that show of support. I sit here smoking an analog as it is, but I know I'll get there. I did take a few tokes on my E at work tonight. It was kind of nice not having to run outside all the time since it gave me that little edge off that I needed (I manage a pizza shop). Definitely going to help on that front, that's for sure! I'll look around a bit before making an investment in a more semi-permanent rig, but I definitely need one that looks like a cig for the most part since I'll be using it at work mostly.

Good luck to you on making the switch. I agree with the previous post about not stressing over it. When it comes to the cost, I can tell you that you will spend more money on each purchase of supplies and juice than you probably would on cigarettes but you will have to purchase much less and if you add it all up at the end of the month vaping is much cheaper than cigarettes. I still smoke about 2 cigarettes a day right now but I really had no intention on quiting especially under my circumstances at the time. I am a single mom to a 3year old boy who (you might just be familuar with as a fire fighter or EMT) is a trach/vent kid and therefore it is not possible for me to sneak away for a smoke. Vaping works and has been my life saver. I started my own e-cigarette business because I wanted to show people that e-cigarettes do work but the main focus of my company is not to sell e-cigarettes but to be a support system to those making the switch because it takes some fine tuning to figure out what works best for you. I make myself available to anyone that has questions or that feels like e-cigarettes aren't working for them and is trying to figure out why. I am not trying to post advertisement all over so I if you are interested in contact information just reply to me and I will post it for you.

Good luck to you, just remember it takes some adjusting to find what works best for you so don't give up!

I'd be interested in what you have. You can PM me info if you want.

If you're going to stick to the cig-alikes (and many do), there are a number of good ones out there. You're going to want a PCC (Personal Charging Case) and probably at least 4 batteries. There are many branded vendors out there, but you can also go generic. You save a bit of money with the generic options, but you may lose out on quality control and customer service.

Most of the branded e-cigs seem to be 808 threaded. There's fewer options with 808's as far as delivery systems (cartomizers/clearomizers/ect), but there are still plenty of good options available. Smokeless Image is the one I can recommend, since I use them. ;)

The other most popular thread-type is 510. These don't seem to be branded as often, but they have the largest options available as far as delivery systems and upgrades to mods.

You can get about 3 hours or so with either one before you need to replace or recharge a battery.

Two proprietary thread-types that I've heard good things about are the JoyTech eRoll/Ovale eMini (they're the same device) and the Colibri Nano. The eRoll/eMini use a replaceable atomizer head (the same one as the eGo C system) and a clear tank. The Nano uses cartomizers; it is also exactly the same size as the NJOY King, which means it's the same size as an actual cigarette. With either one of these you're only going to get about an hour or less of use before needing a recharge. The Nano has the advantage in that it has a "smart" PCC, which means it will stop sending power to the battery once it's charged. The eRoll doesn't, last I heard.

If you want a big throat hit and vapor, look into using low resistance atomizers. You can use these on either the 808 or 510, though some 808's are designed to not play well with it. You will sacrifice battery life with this option, but most people swear by it. You should also look into making sure they are regulated batteries, so that the majority of your vapes will be consistent from the first puff to the last. Smokeless Image only sells regulated batteries.

The bigger batteries such as the eGo, Go-Go, Echo and iGo/vGo are about the size of a cigar. They last much longer, about 6 - 12 hours more or less, but they are a bit bulky and heavy. I have an iGo model and I'm actually in the process of stepping back down to the smaller batteries because of it's size. Most people love them though, and they are good for not having to recharge often and for more options for delivery systems. The eGo is 510 threaded, the Echo and iGo/vGo are 808 threaded and the Go-Go is proprietary. If you're interested in the 808's, you can check out my blog post which explains the different battery types and some of their features. ;)

Good luck!

Congrats on the step of moving to e-cigs! I started using e cigs about 3 years ago, but I never stopped smoking real cigs but I did cut back my intake more than half way using the e cig. Like many it's hard to 100% quit smoking especially when you done it for so many years. But you made a good choice to the path of quitting cigarettes, and that's amazing things. I just recently started vamping again and I went from about a pack a day to only 3 a day, the rest I vape. You'll see soon enough you'll slow will vape mor and more and by the time you know it you will be smoke free!

Way to go RPackerII! Here's a little of my story and :2c:

I smoked 2.5 PAD (Packs A Day) of Ma_bo_o 100's for years (at least 20). Last year, at tax time, I had a few extra dollars that I would usually spend on a Video game. My cousin had started vaping and I decided, "What the heck? I'll check it out, get her advice, and then decide if I really want to try it. My starter Kit was a Riva 510SE; 2 atomizers, 2 cones, 2 650mah batteries, a USB and wall charger. I knew I'd need e-liquid and ordered a couple of 5ml bottles in flavors that interested me. With help of coupons and coupon codes, found here on ECF, or you can google "your vendor's name" +coupon code, I blew just under $55.

My smoking dropped by 90% instantly. (<10/day); I smoked along side vaping about a month. One day I woke up and thought, "I want the flavor of vaping some Vanilla Cappuccino more than I want the flavor of that analog. I hit one bump in the road; I started craving a cigar! I bought some fancy Cigar e-liquid and learned how to direct drip to my atty and it banished the analog craving.

My few words of advice: 1.) Any time -at all- spent vaping is time you are not smoking so like others said don't beat yourself up; if you want to put down analogs you will in your own way. 2.) Plan for backing up; don't run out of e-liquid, if you get a kit with two batteries buy one more, if you can afford it and don't use Cartomizers buy a back up atty. 3.) For me the beauty of vaping is its enormous variety in hardware, supply systems (the way the e-liquid gets turned into vapor), and e-liquid flavors. Once you zero in on your own personal set up it it great. I loved smoking. I have come to love vaping more. Drink plenty of water; vaping will dry you out. I still can't believe I just passed my 9 month anniversary without any kind of tobacco in any form.

Best wishes for a long, happy, flavorful, and vapor filled life.
