Hey peeps, new member here, thanks for having me, will post up a thread shortly with some help I need :)
What is the right section to post up questions about next setup after the V2 EX ecig?
Just want to make sure it's in the right place, will be a detailed post
Thanks
Welcome and glad you joined.
Best advice I can give is start simple and try to learn every basic part of vaping, then step up to advance ways of vape. Some folks inadvertently sell the novice advanced equipment which multiplies vaping complexities. The poor learner is flooded with too many variables and never gets the basics down pat. It helps to know what you want (which direction you want to head towards) before you leap.

Brotherbob: thank you

This is becoming maddening, now all three of us want to avoid units with a separate battery, we are not ready for that.

They are thinking about:

Eleaf iStick 40W TC (either just the mod or with the GS tank)

Thoughts/comments/a gun with a bullet to put me out of my misery ROFL!

There are just to many options out there.

Thanks

Sadly, some managed to scare you away from the better recommendations.

Honestly it's not that hard, just a small learning curve for the basics. If you're buying tanks that uses cartridges, all that's needed is that you set your mod to the right type (NI, TI, SS, or Wattage mode), follow the range of the coils for the wattage, and with temp control, set the temperature that you like. With replaceable batteries, you don't have to remove and get a charger, as I stated in previous post, most Eleaf or Joytech mods have been just fine to charge directly. We have over a dozen mods at my house, many are charged directly on a regular basis and we've never had a single problem (and we've been vaping for over 8 years). Get something that you really like and can't change the battery?, just know that it's going in the garbage once the battery is dead due to being non-replaceable.

Anything that you need to know, it doesn't matter if you have a beginner's kit or an "expert (AKA EXPENSIVE)" one, they are all the same when it comes to the settings... for example putting a 50$ mod on NI, at 45W and at 430F, is going to be/do the exact same with a $500 mod. Using a khantal or SS coil? just set the wattage to what works for you.

But anyways: If you really want simple (but disposable once the battery wears out), then I'd recommend that you go with either:

iJust 2: iJust 2 Kit is Electronic Cigarette Starter Kit | Eleafworld
(at least with this one, the tank is removable and you can keep using it with another mod later on)

Ego-AIO: eGo AIO - Joyetech

Both are highly praised. But note that anything "low key" will not have a screen, or possibly settings, so you cannot change anything to your personal preferences.

The only ones I own are the original Ego One Mega, the 1.8 ml and Tron S. They all use the same coils. I think they are all comparable. The 1.8 ml is a bit hard to fill. Small space between the chimney and outer wall. The airflow is a bit tighter also but just a bit.

Thanks so much! Very helpful.

It's looking like the Tron S is probably the one for me. It says 4ml, so that's enough and people seem to like it. That and a few packs of CLRs then.. :)

Whatever one needs to rebuild them with (come the time) I'll already have it in the box...

Awesome :)

seriously? trying to steer someone away from a bad purchase of a single button mod that only does
Optimized at 14 Watts with specially designed 1.5 Ohm coils
... is not taking the next step, it's asking for trouble, and buyers regret in a very short period. I get you don't like kangers, but there were other suggestions for tanks and valid points made about the battery issue and advising to learn battery safety. education is required to vape and vape safely.

I started with a Joyetech ego AIO. I didn't like the coil it came with but had a great experience with a 1.0 ohm coil in it. Super simple to operate, also inexpensive enough to get multiples if you like it as backups. Very tight draw, supposedly for mtl but that style of inhale wasn't what I used. Shortly after that I got the Eleaf iStick nano, 40w with the Melo 3 nano. I'm liking it a lot but I did have some coil trial and error (the aspire Atlantis 0.5 ohm coil is working for me now). The battery wouldn't last me a day but I'm never far from a charger. I know some people have said Pico and that's what I'm checking out for my next purchase. My husband uses the Joyetech ego AIO now and he likes it.

I know I got analysis overload when I first started looking into vaping and just decided to jump in and go for it. Once I got something that worked relatively well I knew I was on the right path. Your first set up might not be exactly what you're looking for but it will help you get an idea of what will work better (or, who knows, maybe you'll get lucky and your choice will suit you perfectly).

err.. you misread my post, that's actually exactly what I was saying.. they wanted "the next step" and yet posts some convinced them to simply look at the single button all-in-ones.

But I added the "IF you really want another simple single button kit then there's these that are a step up from the cheap pen types"... and added that it would still be a regret purchase later. (not in those exact words but that was my point)

And it's nothing to do with Kanger, not sure what you're getting at about that.

@djsvapour The "Megas" and the Tron S are all 4 ml.

I think the iStick 40w with GS Tank is a fine choice. Definitely a step up. I own 4 20w iSticks (I don't recommend them anymore since the 30w and 40w came out) and 2 30w. I also own several GS Tanks that I use everyday. The Eleaf coils can be rebuilt but are not designed for that.

Edit; The GS Tank comes with Nickel Temperature Control coils. These cannot be used in watt mode. I use the 1.5 ohm Kanthal coils in my GS Tanks.

The GS tank is my go-to tank. It's worry over getting the coils in the future that has got me thinking about CLR.
Out of hours, I vape drippers more often these days.
People have directed me to videos about rebuilding the GS coils, but I think it's all too fussy.

I have rebuilt a few GS coils and it's not too bad but definitely harder than the Ego One coils. The hard part is getting the top off and back on. The Ego One coil has a screw off/on top. The downside to that is that it, sometimes, unscrews and remains in the chimney when refilling the tank. It's not a big deal, just a little annoying.

So we ordered the Eleaf iStick TC 40W with the GS air tank. It seems like a good starter unit for both MTL and DTL.

We all have to start somewhere so I guess we shall see where it all goes. We look forward to receiving them and I am sure all three of us will go on slightly different paths as time goes on.

Thank you all again for all the feedback and comments. Will let you know when they arrive.

I am sure I will have questions about using it

Hope you all ordered different colors, wouldn't want to mix them up! All in all, a sophisticated mod. My 2nd was a cigalike with a different Tip color..

Two of us ordered black on black which I think is a really cool look. The other coworker ordered brushed. I'm more of a stealthy guy.

Funny on the cigalike, however, I am coming from a v2 ex so definately a step up and in the right direction :)

By the way, hope you fared okay with Matthew!
Thanx,, No damage, except my back, takes about 4 hours to install storm panels.
Enjoy your new mods, i have a blue tc40.

I know it's girly of me to say it... but you can paint them to make them distinctive... I use gel nailpolish, so when I get bored I can strip it off and change it.. and no not pink *shudders*. I got stuck with a red mod, while the hubby got the sexy black one... here's a few of the paintjobs I've done to it... currently I'm stripping all the red off of it and one of our spare black ones, I like the stainless steel look.

^^ I am like your husband when my wife takes me to a nice restaurant, hahaha, I'm a simple guy with simple taste :p

Interesting, I went to a local shop to price juices and check for coil availability. Luckily I can get GS air coils locally, not the cheapest thing in the world but we ordered with our initial on-line order so should be good for a while I think.

So, I'm talking with the shop owner and guy who was in their shopping and advised them what we bought, model, tank etc etc.

They both advised to avoid vaping with temp control and to stay in VW mode. I wonder why they advised this? I don't think I planned on using TC anyway and was going to stay with VW mode for a bit to get started.

Shop owner also advised to the clean the tank thoroughly. He confirmed the GS air tank will come dirty with machine oil, etc. Sounds like a pain but not a big deal to be honest.

The GS air tank comes with two 0.15 ohm coils, I can't remember the material but I believe it was for TC use. Luckily we ordered some 1.2 ohm coils as well with the order so I think it's best to switch out to these coils when I get the unit. What is the recommended range for a 1.2 coil in VW mode?

Thoughts?
