What's up everyone, i'm a new member and have been vaping for about a week, smoking analogs for about 10 years. About two years ago I bought a BluCig trying to quit analogs and found it to produce too little vapor and actually made me want to smoke analogs even more. I defaulted and kept smoking. A year ago my first child was born and needless to say I didn't want to smoke and have second hand smoke around her so I tried quitting again. This time I used the Nicorette Mini lozenges and had fairly good success, quitting for around 6 months before defaulting back to cigarettes. A few days ago was my daughters first birthday and I wanted to try to quit again so I started searching for new and improved e-cigs which is when I found Personal Vaporizer's. PV's seemed to be exactly what I wanted and needed, customizable, lots of vendors, produces better vapor and taste.

I started by ordering a Joye Ego-c kit from Rocky Mountain Vapor for $55 after coupon and some sample juice from Heathers Heavenly Vapes. I quickly found that the tank system on the Ego-c was lacking so I ordered some Vision Ego Clearomizers from Got Vapes. I also order a SLB eGo-V Variable Voltage battery from Got Vapes so I can play with a variable setup.

Currently I'm still testing juices and trying to find my day vape. Also testing some Boge and Ikenvape 510 and 801 cartomizers in difference resistances and different tank setups.

I am a technical engineer at a fortune 100 company so I was able to pick up vaping pretty quickly, however I can see how it would be hard to people without a technical background. What I would like to do is use some of my technical writing and certification skills and create a Newbie Guide which will walk new users through the process I took, filtering out all the crap and ending with a vaping product that I am truly happy with. Explaining the different technologies and paths that one could take. Explaining the different components that I tested and troubles that I ran into etc. From there I can collaborate with some of the active and knowledgeable videobloggers like Grimm Green to create a series of newbie videos that will help the community as a whole. I think this would be useful to the newbie community because I am still in the newbie mindset and can articulate using that mindset.

Just from my week or so of vaping I can truly see how vaping can help people to completely replace cigarettes. Although that is not the only use, that is what I am personally using it for.

Please provide any feedback you may have.

Thanks!

a ultimate newb guide would be very hard to create, there are thousands of options out there in terms of batteries, atties, cartos/clearos, tanks, and now you have rebuildables. i have helped several quit smoking and switch to vaping, but not all of them needed the same set up. thankfully after 2 years i have a pretty big collection of pv's, and liquid feed systems.

the only other issue i can see with that is keeping it current, the ecig industry is still pretty young and always looking to evolve. i remember starting when catridges where the main way to vape. then cartomizers and clearomizers came out and that was a big wow, only to be replaced by tank systems that offer all day vaping with no refill... couldn't get any better then that was my taught. but nope they went ahead and started making rebuildable atomizer and tank systems(i know this is more geared toward advance user's, but some newbs jump right into the deep end of the pool).

not to mention the biggest concern for a newb once they get gear that works for them is juice. and this is a even harder topic to help with. you have various pg/vg ratio's, nicotine levels, flavors. there is no one size fit all standard with vaping, i have had new users like systems i felt were flawed and others love exactly what i use.

Hello & welcome to ECF! I think that would be awesome!! If it weren't for the help of the ECF community I don't know what I would've done. I still consider myself a Noob & getting started can be very confusing. Heck!! It's still confusing at times! I think your idea would be an awesome addition!

Agree with some of your points. First I'm not thinking about an "Ultimate" newb guide, just a newb guide that will go over what I did and also the technologies, not necessarily the thousands of different product variations and setups. Just really discussing three main points of any system, 1) power source, 2) vape delivery & 3) e-liquid.

Keeping it current is always a problem in any type of guide but depending, we can write it in a shared document and keep it relatively current. Current enough that it would still be useful.

Juice would be it's own section in the document, both in the technology sections and also some howtos. One big thing I ran into is how to test juice. Do I have a separate clearomizer for each juice, do I buy a dripping carto or do I drip directly on my eGo-C atomizers and test with a empty tank? All things that can be in the document.

Appreciate your feedback!

Hello everyone, I've been vaping for 9 months and finally got on the forum. I'm not noob to vaping but i'm starting to branch out into different set-ups. I just fried my first vv mod (VMax) and I'm trying to get some more info on re-buildables and such. I'm not electrically inclined, but I'm interested in learning all I can. I started with an Ego C and quickly switched to the Vision Stardust? (non-replaceable
head) tanks, then I went to the replaceable head version. Now I vape on a DCT and The ViVi nova tanks.

Hello and welcome. Although you have stated a noble cause it has been done over and over. Not to mention that if one goes to YouTube and types in "ecig" there is plenty of video material on any vaping subject. Some of the very popular video subscription channels have pbusardo, grimmgreen, steeljan and others I can't remember right now. Thanks for the thought though.
