I stopped being able to eat at my desk because of people getting curry in an open office, and stopped being able to vape at work because someone was blowing clouds instead of exhaling under his desk like the rest of us. ..... but getting in a non-smokers face is how we get people voting for legislation against vapers since we are all now a-holes in that person's eyes.

That's the best quote around here!

Y'all know what we could really use right now? Dr. Sanjay Gupta gathering whatever independent hard data is out there regarding vaping (there's not a lot as yet, but there is some), as well as encouraging independent laboratories to do further testing on the chemicals used in modern e-cigs, and their impacts on vapers and non-vapers alike.

Then he could do a special on CNN to educate people with meaningful, objective and TRUTHFUL information about vaping, which would have the effect of un-demonizing e-cigs, vaping and e-liquids. It's too soon to expect the results of any long-term measurements, of course, but he could at least present the handful of ingredients in e-liquids, the known risks of ingesting each ingredient, and the first-hand and second-hand effects of the delivery method of a modern e-cig.

He could keep it simple, not venturing into the complexities of cigalikes vs. mods vs. mechanicals, and so on. Simply call all of them "personal vaporizers" in order to get the suffix "-cig" out of the realm of vaping. Too many people see "e-cig" and immediately think vaping is "just another way of smoking".

Dr. Gupta has done this very thing before, and with very positive effects - most recently with ... um ... other things that needed to be de-stigmatized and understood correctly by society. He's very good at doing this kind of thing.

If we can get enough of the truth into the minds of a significant percentage of our country's population, then Congress and BT would have a harder time getting people to believe their lies and ignorance. If we expect to get the act of vaping treated fairly by the government and society alike, we're going to need someone with the visibility and credibility of Dr. Gupta - as well as other doctors and scientists - to de-bunk the unfounded rumors and replace them with the truth.

I fear this is our only hope. If we wait too long, then there will be so many states and districts unduly restricting or banning the act of vaping, and so much of the population believing vaping to be nothing more than "fancy smoking" with all the same dangers, then not even Sanjay could help us. Something like this needs to be done sooner rather than later.

I find the hover text funny sometimes. I imagine replacing the word with it's pop-up definition, which makes the quote above...
"[...] and having people look at me like I have two end-fittings such as atomizers, cartomizers and tanks........."
[/OT]

that is funny.......... good observation!

Ahh, okay. lol. Hey, we need to be at city hall when they take up the banning issue, tabled for 90 days from 2-28.

Yes very true. San Diego is under attack. Also it needs to be mentioned that not everyone vapes with nic. A 0 nic vapor is no more offensive than perfume or air freshener. People need to recognize these possibilities.

LWC..I've left the 0 nic argument off the board long ago. ( I do 14mg) After 2 years of vaping and talkin to many, it's the clouds that scare the nons. It's toooo close to smoke. I've said it before and I'll say it again.."If vapor was clear, we would have much less issues". But, it's not. We are about to go L.A. way. I can feel it. Next? Maybe Long Beach, can't vape in vape shops. I just wanna stay under the radar until the facts of safety catch up. I don't want to get busted on the beach for vaping like I did with smoking. We gotta be smart! Glad to meet with a local too! Peace!

There are million threads asking about vaping in public. I would personally just use common sense. I don't vape in crowds of people just as a courtesy. I have taken a few toots in a store if no one is around and in the bar but it isn't a question of if I can, but more if I should to be considerate and polite.

And isn't that always the best policy, anywhere, for anything? If more people exercised this approach, I think there'd be a lot fewer wars. When I was raising my son, I always told him "it doesn't cost anything extra just to be NICE."

On another note, I too; too a vape-cation from vaping and one of the things that was important for me this time through was trying to find out why I quit vaping in the first place. For me, the answer was that everything required too much work with maintenance and upkeep so this time around, I have been focusing my purchases on what is the least amount of work to successfully vape with the best results. That answer could be different for you but it is a good thing to contemplate.

How about, everybody and their damn brother asking you "so how long do you think till you quit THAT?" like there's some requirement not to enjoy yourself. It's that puritan thang I guess. Enjoyment is a sin!! :D I just tell them "when I stop being an addict." If they know anything at all, they know that once an addict, ALWAYS an addict!!! ;)

But welcome back. I'm still kind of a newbie, but hey, 30 days, I'm thrilled, it's a miracle, etc. :D

Hey Andria! lol..Yeah, judgmental nons. It's like if you quit doing heavy drugs and went to caffeine and they say, "Oh, so your third cup of coffee, eh?" .lol. It's the cross we carry.

I even stated "common sense"..problem is common sense to some is " Hey, dude, it's water vapor, go pound sand!"

Okay to answer without being argumentative? Have my opinion? lol. Money yes. But, money was in place when all of the "in your face smokers" were puffing away and letting their cigs burn in ashtrays, wafting in people's faces. Escalated the problem. Inconsiderate vapers will do the same thing. Especially, without hardcore long term data to back us up.

Nobody took away your opinion, or your right to express it as u clearly have several times that's all good, however some didn't agree with it, that is their right as well.

Again I reiterate Follow The Money, clouds will not get Vapeing banned and regulations will happen no matter what.... Why because of the money. Vapeing will change as we know it but not because of inconsiderate Vapers, smokers, or any other vice.

Long term Data, what exactly is that I wonder? I suggest we know already after 10 years+ that no one is dead yet from Vapeing or seriously or critically I'll, not even a slight fever or cold caused due to 10 years of Vapeing.

Etiquette is using common sense, a feature some can't comprehend. Vapeing regulations will happen because of the ole mighty Dollar, because it's a vice that the government will continue to Demonize so they can Sin Tax it.

Ok off to Cloud 9' have a great day all.

Exactly why I have a tank set up and my dripper. I drip at home or out with friends (you can smoke in bars here in Korea) but when I'm back home I use a tank when I'm around people that I would think wouldn't appreciate my clouds. My dad loves my sub ohm builds. I'll have to post a pic of my 71 year old dad blowing clouds. Like others have said let common sense be your guide and make smart decisions. I don't want my actions to cause any issues for the vaping community

True, there is a much deeper attitude problem here in the US and other places. The Preemptive Strike mentality. To take away rights before any data has been admittedly collected. To protect us from ourselves. To punishment for victimless crimes. We have moved to a guilty before proven innocent society. Who can say what is really driving it. But the thing that can stop it is the people.

Outdoors mainly. I will vape in a restaurant but only after getting permission to. I never sit near anyone that may be bothered by the vapor. And I don't vape around kids unless they're my own. It's pretty much the same as when I smoked, except I will sneak into a bathroom stall or somewhere in a store where there's no one around and stealth vape.

We need not be timid about vaping. Standing up for our rights and educating others not in the know is how to make it socially acceptable. I have seen people stealth vaping in the most surprising places and it goes unnoticed. Many examples that confirm how inoffensive vaping is if you are not "chucking" I now push the limits when I can to invite the chance to educate people who wish to question what I am doing. Most find it surprisingly non offensive to them and this is a powerful way to exercise our rights, keep what freedom we have left and turn the tide back in our favor.

With a place like Disney, it's all about image and reducing complaints. Even without bothering anyone, they'd likely get complaints from parents about the bad example you're setting for their kids or something like that. Same reason I don't vape around my son's school.

And again..I will disagree with the money focus and will say again "It's the fear of the unknown that scares people". Clouds of vapor coming their way. If it was clear, less problems. Nons tell me this all the time. I talk to many. So, then they use the "gateway for smoking" BS to supplement their argument.

And, no, 10 years is not enough. Majority of us only in last few years. We need at least 20 years of long term use and independent studies to conclude that inhaling PG/VG and other ingredients causes no serious long term effects to users and others.

Again, MONEY was in place for big tobacco and the nons went overboard with regs. We just need conclusive data that we are in fact not harming others. In the meantime, "Be Cool" about it, that's all.

For the most part, I'll vape anywhere but if I'm in a restaurant I'll either ask or stealth vape at the table just like I would on a plane. If I'm at a bar, I'll usually ask before starting if I actually want to go back to that particular establishment or I'll vape until I'm asked not to, which rarely happens but if it does, I'll stop then (with an occasional stealth vape here and there). I don't vape around kids or blow the vapor into the faces of animals...or in a closed space like a car without first asking the driver/passengers but only if it isn't my car.

Carry spare tips or covers with you because every time someone has asked me about my setup, they always want to try it. :)
