I am new to this forum and to vaping. Started to Vape almost a month ago. Before I started vaping, I was smoking almost 2 packs a day. Currently, I am smoking 5-8 cigarettes per day. While I know that is tremendous progress, I want to completely give up the analogs. I started with the Basic Ego C (650 battery). I have since upgraded to the Mini Protank 2 with Ego Twist 1100 (just upgraded). My Juice is usually 80/20 or 70/30, usually from Mt Baker Vapor or Totally Wicked. For me, it is all about the throat hit and simiulating cigarettes. I want to make sure I am using the proper gear for the results I want to achieve.

I have also tried the Protank 2 but got a really airey draw with almost NO throat hit. I hate the air draws. I usually order my gear through fasttech because they are so cheap, however, it does take approximately two weeks to get to me.

Any Suggestions???;)

Just hang in there I didn't totally quit right away. I still smoked finally I started disliking the taste of cigs and it made no sense to keep smoking them when I could vape tasted better anyway. I agree I still need the throat hit as well. I got some next level up juice 24 mg when I decided to completely quit for those tuff cravings. Just stick with it.. Good luck.

My suggestion is to adjust the voltage on your twist to get to 7.5 or more watts based on the ohms of your heads for your protank mini (1.8 to 2.0 ohms will work best at about 3.7 to 4.1 volts or above - 2.5 ohms needs to be at about 4.2 to 4.4 volts) - try adjusting the voltage before buying more equipment - I bought the mvp1 and never use it due to the button (flat mounted - mvp2 version seems to be raised up a little) - you can order iclear 16's on their own and will work on ego style batteries - they are dual coil and do hit warmer than other clearo's

Congratulations, that's quite a jump from 2 packs a day! The Mini Protank 2 and the Ego Twist 1100 is a great setup.

I don't like the airy draw on the Protank 2s either. I use a Tank Airflow Controller, it let's you adjust the draw on your Protank 2 and works great. I love mine.

Cheers to your continued success!

I'm not going to suggest different equipment. I quit with joye 510's with 18mg liquid :)

my advice is to not stress about quitting!

what I did was delay. when I wanted a cig I had to vape for a while first. then if I still wanted the cig I had it - guilt free! but I would smoke half the cig and put it out and vape some more if needed. then the next time I wanted a cig I smoked the other half. that helped cut the # of cigs I was smoking. like the morning cig. it's a hard one, so the first day I vaped 5 min. then had the cig. next day, vaped 10 min, then the cig. it wasn't too long that my first cig of the day was at 1 in the afternoon. and so on.
and here is a support thread you might want to check out

and you are doing great, good luck and welcome to the forum :)
oh and ps, I still smoke 2 cigs a day right before bed - because I'm old and I want to! :pervy:

LOL, there should be a 2 pack a day club, i was with you on that account. When i started vaping i put the analogs down, havent had one since. Right now i am using the itaste 3.0 vv/vw with a kangertech T3s, (waiting on the wire and wick to rebuild the coils for my protank) Like was mentioned before, I think a lot goes down to your vaping technique, once you have that down it gets easier. Vape on , hope to see ya around :vapor:

I think you're doing fine. I also don't think it's so much about hardware as it is about flavor. (Except for the airy draw, because I still hate that myself.)

I smoked and vaped for weeks. Just vaped when I could and smoked when I had to. We didn't have the hardware choices back in the dino-days that there are now, but finding a juice flavor is still a challenge. When I was vaping and smoking, I experimented with nicotine strength until that felt right, but there was always something missing that kept me needing a cigarette. So I began experimenting with flavors. (At the beginning I was certain I wanted a specific tobacco taste.)

Through all those different flavored juices I kept vaping when I could and smoking when I had to. I finally ordered a flavor that sounded like one of the worst things I could think of vaping. When that flavor came in and I took my first vape, I found what had been missing. Satisfaction. That silly flavor worked great. I still vaped when I could and smoked when I had to.

One day I was getting ready for work and put the pack of cigarettes in my pocket, like I always did, and noticed that the pack was missing the same number of cigarettes as it was the day before. I had completely forgot to smoke the day before and didn't even realize it. I've never had a strong urge to smoke a cigarette since. No stress, no beating myself up, no anxiety, no anything but forgetting to smoke one day.

I don't say I quit. I had quit smoking before and always wanted a smoke until, at some point, I went back to smoking. I just switched to vaping and prefer it. I've never been much of a quitter. (Just ask anyone who has gotten into an argument with me.)

Not everyone is able to quit "cold turkey". Many newcomers take weeks to months to finally put down the analogs for good. There's no one way to quit, but try to choose a method that may work for you and your habits. We have a saying on ECF, "Its not how many smokes you have that count, its how many you don't smoke that count."

Nicotine percentage has the greatest effect on throat hit. Jump up to the next level from what you are currently using in your e-liquids. Increasing the voltage will warm the vapor for a stronger throat hit.

Lower resistance (lower ohm) coils in your juice attachments will also increase throat hit.

Sometimes it's not always the gear that makes the difference but the Juice instead.

I had went through all kinds of juices and flavors in the beginning, but the first time I tried Halo that's what did it for me. Maybe you should try one of their sampler packs and see if that works for you.

Plus their having a 20% off sale this week for Veterans Day. E-liquid | Electronic Cigarette | E Cig Liquid | Halo Cigs

The ProTank is a bottom coil (coil on bottom, gives cooler vape). I tried it and found it to be lacking in TH and other areas.
Top coil clearos (coil on top, gives warmer vape) are what I enjoy as they seem to give me more TH. Your choices are either a Vision brand Mini Vivi Nova or an iClear16. I use the Vision Vivi Nova and like it.

I'm using 36mg juice, highest available. I can vape at work so that helps tremendously.
You're pretty well vaping the strongest nic level possible.
If a top coil clearo doesn't help than I'd suggest you upgrade to a more powerful Mod. I own Twists and Spinners- use them while I'm out and about. When I'm at home I use my Mod/ APV.

I saw that the iclear 16 had a stronger throat hit. I have a c4 (I think) from Totally Wicked (my first one) that has the dual threads. I have not tried to put it on the Ego Twist - maybe that would work?

The CE4 is a top coil also known as the Stardust. The CE5 is the same except the head (coil+ wick) is easily and cheaply replaced. They were the first clearo available and I used them until the Vivi Novas came out as I found the the CE4/ 5 were lacking in quality.

Is the 36mg too strong? I vape ALL DAY long and sometimes by the end of the day, I am feeling weird....
I began at 36 mg and was vaping 50- 60 ml per week. Are you staying hydrated/ drinking lottsa water and less caffeine drinks.
PG and VG are humectants...
A humectant is a substance used primarily in foods and cosmetic products to help retain moisture. These substances are called hygroscopic, which means that they are able to absorb ambient water. These hygroscopic compounds posses a chemical structure that attracts water from the atmosphere and binds it to various sites along the molecule.

When we inhale PG/ VG it "traps" the moisture in our mouth, throat and nasal area and thus the vapor. The real problem arises when the body is dehydrated and begins "stealing" moisture from other parts of the body to keep key organs hydrated. Add to that more than 3 cups of java or caffeine based soda drinks and severe dehydration can occur.
I had a convert that didn't believe vaping was dehydrating. I showed him his fingernails- there were vertical rails on them. Told him this was a sign of serious dehydration. His Dr. agreed. He began drinking water/ hydrating and within a couple of months his fingernails returned to normal...he's now a believer. Ask any chemist and they will tell you the same. I drink 3+ liters of water per day and no more than 3 cups Java per day.
I had to change my lifestyle as I was drinking 10+ cups java per day+ caffeinated soft drinks...it was well worth it.

I am going to buy the iClear 30 with the aluminum middle tomorrow. I hope that will work out for me and will use my mini protank 2 as a back up. Will try that first and then in a couple of weeks will get a mod - thinking Vamo 3?

I've been researching mods myself. A lot of people seem to like Vamos, but I'm leaning towards the Innokin SVD. I like the asthetics of it more, and it has received great reviews, many seem to prefer it over a Vamo. I have an Innokin iTaste 3.0 VV/VW, and I love the quality. Figure I'll stick with what I know. :)

Good luck! I vaped for about 6 weeks the first time around, and still smoked, but not nearly as much. I got frustrated with the ego batteries I had, and the lame quality of the plastic clearomizers...they kept falling apart. Of course, some of that was my own error...I used juices in them that I shouldn't have. One of my vivi nova's literally disintegrated. Yuck. So i went back to reliable cigarettes.

Just recently got back into vaping and I paid more attention to my gear this time. I have a mod that I got off a great Treasure Chest on this forum, and the iTaste...invested in some glassomizers (protank, mini protank, Smoktech AROs). The quality makes a lot of difference to me. I'm not a big throat hit person, so I prefer the bottom coil stuff. Since I picked vaping back up this time, I haven't had any cravings for analogs. Very happy, and can't see myself ever going back again!
