I know I'm new here...so I wanted to further explain my nomination of Taukimada. It's not just that I know him off the board, or that he is closer to me then some of my actual kin...

Let's list the reasons.

1. He has no life whatsoever. This not only makes him a great candidate for mod, but an awesome person to drunk dial at 4am.

2. He has an opinion about EVERYTHING, and that is no exageration. More importantly though....he would never let facts get in the way of him enforcing his opinion. Another great mod attribute.

3. He is a complete pacifist. This means he can talk his way out of trouble better than OJ Simpson, and in a pinch....he could probably run faster than him too. You wouldn't think this would be a great mod attribute...but this has created a LIFETIME of repressed anger. What better position could he have to safely excise this frustration.

4. Forget everything I wrote above and just know that he's a great guy, and extremely thoughtful. If I could appoint him a supreme court judge....I would.

No. I'm protected.

No. I'm protected.

You mean that you decided to destroy your stairs and only live on the second floor after you read the Zombie Survival Guide too?

See I'm not the only one making preparations for the coming zombie outbreak!

I don't know about having Spikey as a mod though. You do not take someone like a dominatrix/mistress and give them control over a big group of people. That's like giving Michael Jackson control over a day care center filled with kids. :p

I'd vote for Kat, TB & Spikey too,
seem to be the most helpful & sensible people here,
there's a few other good contenders out there as well.

But what this forum really needs is more 'organisation',
i.e. mods who are not only willing to keep the peace with restraint,
but also would merge new posts into the relevant existing threads.

The proliferation of similar or identical topics is going to make this
very popular forum bog down at some point, or at least become
un-usable, except as a social chit-chat site.

Must be someone with no power-hungry, ready to propose solutions and NOT make troubles, must be somebody with a well calm and balanced judgment and inclined to be totally imparcial and with no temperamental issues, so my candidate must be:

nitewriter

No "celebrities", suppliers or reviewers please, a mod has to serve the community, not tear it apart or trying to glow by their own.

Nitewriter.. arent you an in-law to Daniel from PS? That is not impartial I don't think....

but if you think about it.. none of us is really impartial.... we all have opinions and we all "side with" someone or another. We are human.. that makes it impossible for us to be impartial by nature. Maybe "fair" is a better word?

I think we need someone who is fair, honest, and can jump in and help cool things off when a thread goes off the deep end. I'm still fairly new to this forum and have watched when things go completely nuts and the fur starts flying. It's rather disconcerting to newbies. We're all adults here, well maybe, and I think we should be able to have intelligent discussions even when we disagree.

PS I nominate Walrus and Candygirl!

I seem to spend around 28 hours a day on here, and I have nothing better to do with my time. I'm only not available on Friday & Saturday nights, when I DJ. Otherwise, retirement is good.

I vote for you, Walrus :) You are reasonable, reasonably sane and a good guy on top of all that ...

And even more, you are cool!

Well if you haven't noticed I like going against popular opinion
Also Like Nuck I enjoy being a Deek

But looking at your nominations, I can't agree

I see a lot of nominations for members who have signed up in the last 2 months, the big names from August and september have moved on, then there was my group, now we are on the 3rd group since I have been here

With forums people eventually move on

I would vote for someone like tribalmasters who have been here forever and still post

And if trogg didn't have the SD, I would vote for him; he's not a mindless follower, and doesn't follow mob mentality

(Oh, god here it comes, 5 people are gonna think I'm calling them out personally for being a lemming)

:p

Well, I joined a couple of months ago. When I first got here, Kate was my hero! She was usually the first to answer my noob questions and was nothing but nice and helpful.

How about we have different mods for different sections of the forum? The forum has exploded just since I've been here!

Kate - New Member's Forum
Walrus - DIY Forum
Terraphon - Modders forum
Spikey - General Discussion

etc, etc...

I agree with K. That is part of why I nominated Kate and TB. They have been around and will continue to be around. Just in the short time I have been here I have seen people come and go. We cannot have a mod who is going to just up and leave us. Then we need a replacement again.

Personally, I could care less. I volunteered because I have a lot of free time, am on here almost constantly, and have experience in both forum and IRC moderation. Except for when I have righteous indignation (like someone trying to pull a fast one on me) I'm a pretty objective easy-going guy. With the investment I've made in equipment, supplies, and liquids I'm going to be at this for a long time. I'll be on the forum one way or another.
