Hello all, I could use some recommendations. A little background: the husband and I have been smokers for over 20 years. Currently we are a pack and half a day smokers. We desperately want to get off the cigarettes and start vaping. We have tried e-cigs before but did not like them at all, from my reading I think it had a lot to do with the brand we were using (Blu). Husband currently smokes menthols and I am smoking lights 72's.

We want to use liquids and I already know which ones we will be purchasing and from where but I do not know what type of e-cig setup to get. We want to start off slow and have something where we can charge the battery, fill up the tank and go! I have been looking at the ego ce4, would this work for what I am wanting? Also husband says he wants something with a smooth hit (his words), he did not like the throat burn he experienced with Blu.

Can anyone give me suggestions on what to buy and where to buy? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am getting overwhelmed with all the choices.

Thank you in advance!

Please no not a ce4

I reccomend the itaste vv3 and the mvp2, check 101vapes and www.desertvapes.com

I also reccomend the iclear 30b or iclear x.1

I have bought a ton of vape stuff and that would be the best beginner euip and if you never upgraded from tht you'd be fine

Look into them, i own nd use both along with my provaris and other mods, they are still good devices

I forgot to mention when we tried the Blu's was about 2 or 3 years ago so I have no idea how much it has changed since then. I wasn't too happy with the flavor so I ditched them and went back to cigarettes and the hubby didn't like the burn. I told him about changing his inhaling technique and he said thank you and that he probably was doing something wrong because it was different from his regular cigarettes.

Thank you Ladiekali, I am looking at those now.

Djs, I will tell him to look up changing his inhaling technique, thank you! I didn't know there was such a thing because it never burns my throat when I inhale. I am looking at liquids with high VG ratios for him.

The high VG is fine, but there are other reasons for harsh hits, like Dry Hits that may be happening.

Take it slow and calm. We'll be here for you, and you'll get where you're going soon enough. :)

I do not like Blue's at all there is no throat hit and I feel like I have to inhale the heck out of it to get a hit. Great distribution being owned by a major, but not good. Do not know about which one to pick I am looking at graduating to liquid . I have been looking at Vapor for life because I read it was good for heave smokers, and I used to smoke 1.5 packs a day at times 2.

I can tell you about all the e cigs that look like a cig because I think I have bought, and lost about 10 of them.

smoothness of hit can be changed by vg/pg mix and nicotine level. Also if your using variable voltage more voltage can increase throat hit. I recommend any tank with air flow controll especially for anyone just starting out. It just seemed to make the change over easier for me. And do yourself a favor buy a good variable voltage, variable wattage battery mod. They make all the difference in the world. Better to start with the good stuff rather than the starters that alot of people really dont care for after buying.

Thank you r77! I am now off to look up what dry hits are lol. I plan on taking it nice and slow I guess I am just anxious to get started. I am getting tired of cigarettes and hate that my kids tell me I reek when they give me a hug.

I'm loving the look of the innokin mvp2 but I cant seem to find a kit for the itaste vv3. It might be me though, got almost no sleep last night so I'm tired and may not be looking in the right place.

I'm no pro by any chance, been vaping for 5 months. I smoked for 20 years at least a pack a day. Starting off slow didn't work for me. My wife still smokes, she has half a dozen ce4s! I hate them. I went "all-in" from day 1. The choices are endless, there is no simple solution that works for everyone, but I would recommend a regulated mod with variable voltage paired with an adjustable airflow tank with replaceable atomizers. with the variable voltage, you can control the strenght or the vapor and adjustable airflow allows you to control the tightness of the draw (inhale). I went with removable batteries (size 18650) and bought two of them along with a charger, because when I was using one, the other one was sitting in the charger. never a possibility of being out of a battery charge.

My starter kit consisted of itazte svd, protank II, two 18650 batteries, i2 intellicharger, juice with 18mg nicotine. I would still recommend this setup, except the protank II. I'd go with an adjustable airflow like aerotank (from same company). Some people think the 18650 mods are bulky, ugly etc. Well, if you are serious about quitting, it doesn't matter what it looks like. simplified 2 step program: step 1, quit smoking and get familiar with vaping. step 2, once familiar with vaping, now you can worry about the looks. I've seen my wife struggle with what I would call an inferior vaping product (ce4s), and I'm not surprised she is still smoking.

I had beers the very same night when I bought my starter kit, and I just kept vaping and never craved a real cig.
I knew from day 1 it was going to work (for me).

Dry hits are when your wicks dont have any or enough juice in them and you get kind of a nasty taste of either the wick or sludge from the juice

Thank you Texanator, I am serious about quitting smoking so I could really care less if my setup is girly or not! To be honest, I have no idea what all that stuff you listed is. :) I have read about the stuff, but got confused and overwhelmed trying to learn about everything. I have been reading these forums and other sites for 3 days trying to figure it all out so I registered here because I was still lost.

I will look into vapor 4 life as well.

I daren't look on the V4L website. 90% of it is likely to send me into some mental meltdown.

When I looked, apart from the *interesting* Zeus, the rest of it looks like throwing money down the drain. It is seriously expensive.

    Tread carefully. $100 kits??

Why would you start your hubby with lower nicotine level? if he smokes 1.5 packs, I'd start with 18mg nicotine (or at least with a minimum of 12mg). Your body craves the nicotine. You'd rather start high. Are you afraid of getting too much nicotine? Well, your body will tell you if you have too much. You will feel sick. Ever heard of the stories about kids stealing their parents tobacco products and trying them out and then ending up throwing up. I'm one of those kids, stole a big fat cigar when I was 8. Me and buddy threw up. Well, you are a grown-up, you know when you start to feel sick and you will quit before you go too far to the point of throwing up. I honestly doubt you will have a problem being too high nicotine, I'm afraid you won't vape enough and you will be too low and thus will smoke an analog cig, which is where you don't want to be, right?

I think he is afraid of the throat burn again? I do remember it not being a good experience for him at all.

You are right I do not want to be back to my regular cigs when I start vaping. I'm glad I haven't ordered my liquids yet, at least when I do I will make sure to order the right nicotine levels.

If I missed responding to someone I'm sorry, I have so many tabs open looking at all the suggestions. I appreciate everyone's help.

I think an ego twist or Vision spinner is a great starter kit. Just remember to have back ups. No matter what you purchase you will fail if you have to sit around and wait for your e-cig to charge. Get a bottle of the nic strength above and below what you think you will need. I thought that I would love the rich coffee or cream type flavors but I found that I do better with the fruit/minty flavors so think about purchasing a variety of flavors in smaller bottles at first. I keep meaning to try some of the sample packs from Smoke Rainbow eliquid samples shop but I have not gotten around to it yet. Something else to think about, every bottle of menthol juice I have purchased had to go into a glass tanks. Might just be my luck but I seem to be attracted to plastic busting juices, all the plastic tanks I purchased are useless now.
