You'll get the hang of it. vaping is really different from smoking an analog. Once you get over that hurdle, the rest will be easy. Just take it slow and easy. I recommend watching Terraphon's new 510 video. If you can vape like him, you'll be a pro in no time.

LOLOL!! I DID watch his video today, and I was thinking, God Gawd!! No wonder they got so much vapor! There is no way I could inhale that long and that hard! I'm a tiny little thing and I've 35 year smoker's lungs!

Mine came today!! I got the silver and I love the looks of it! It feels a lot lighter than my 402 or it's better balanced or something, and it's nowhere near as *big* as I had pictured it. I guess I was worried it was like the size of a flute or something! :D I know, I'm a kook!

Anyway, it's charging and I'm waiting (can you hear my fingers tapping?). Got about two more hours and then I get to play with it for 20 minutes, then back on the charger.

Kreel,

Would you mind referencing where this video might be so that I can see it?

Thank you!

I had a 402 also and you're right - it felt like a lead fishing weight in your hand lol. This one is much lighter and I too was thankful it wasn't a flute lol.

My neighbor checked out my 510 today and immediately commented on the weight being so light compared to the old one.

you're going to love it.

Trapped within my imagination
Hi, I just got my 510 and was having some problems with it and someone pointed me to this thread.. So glad that they did...The 510 is a bit different then my other PV's and I've learned a few tricks that I am going to try.. I do have a few questions that would really help...
I've always been under the impression that you do Not want the wic laying against the cart filling = you're vaping melted plastic ( I had actually cut some of the filling from my 510 cart to keep this from happening, then switched to a 901 cart)..However, I've now read a few times about how you DO want the "dent" in your filling with the 510? Can anyone clarify this a little?

My other question is about the 510 passthrough....In the midst of trouble shooting my 510.. I put the atty on the passthru which is connected to my kensington..Could barely see any vape at all on the PT..I checked to see if the battery was in backwards, nope..Not knowing a lot about the inline battery PT's..I figure maybe the little battery needs to charge...So I left it on the kensington for the afternoon..I came back my kensington was completely drained, from a full charge...

Just double checking, was this a bad PT or is there something I needed to do differently to a 510 PT?....Thanks so much for anyone that can help me out here.. I will be beating my 510 into submission tomorrow if it kills me lol...

AFAIK, the wick, if moist, will not burn away simply touching the bridge in the atomizer. If this were true, then ALL pvs would be suspect. The wick, in fact, needs to send juice to the unit. This is how they work. Don't worry about it anymore than you would worry about any of the others. It's becoming an 'old wives' tale'.

Some passthroughs have been sent out with poorly charged batteries. Send it back and get a new one, or save the postage and buy one at Radio Shack. Mine -straight from Janty, lasted all of 2 weeks.

Don't cut the filling from your cart. It needs to stay at the top of the cartridge. Let the atomizer push it gently in all by itself. It will automatically find the sweet spot.

Watch Terraphon's video. Do you see him cutting the filling from his cart? Another 'wives' tale'. The only time you need to cut the filling from your cart is if you perform the straw mod.

I applaud you for getting the Kensington. Nice unit. :)

Oh -- and welcome to the club! I know you'll love it. :)

It's like Kreel said - you do want the filler to nest into the bridge of the atty and to let it find it's "sweet spot". At least I find I get good results that way.

My other question is about the 510 passthrough....In the midst of trouble shooting my 510.. I had a similar issue with the 510 passthrough I got from Janty. The battery came with just a wushy charge to it. Got little vapor at first so I just let it charge on my Kensington then everything was fine. But my Kensington gives me about 2 days worth of charge before needing a re-charge so something's up with your battery I would think.

Another issue with mine is that if I unplug the passthrough from the Kensington, it won't hold a charge and I have to plug it back in to get it to work. I would think I would get some use before having to plug it back into the Kensington. So guess I need another battery.

I will be beating my 510 into submission tomorrow if it kills me lol...

ROFL!! Too funny!

Hi -- New owner of a 510 from E-smokey-Treats here. (Fantastic shipping time and nifty product boxing.)

I'm trying folks and not getting anywhere. Is there a time frame for breaking this thing in? I push the manual button, the tip lights up, draw on it for 6-8 seconds, and nothing happens. No vapor whatsoever. I've watched the great video that was recommended and am so glad to have this forum.

Be kind and take pity on this old gal. What might I be doing wrong? I feel just like that other poster who was describing how her family can do it but she can't. I'm charging the second battery now in case that's the problem, but the end is lighting up.

Oh for crying out loud --- posting on the forum must have been the "magic bullet." IT'S WORKING!!!! Zow -- this thing rocks!! I'm like a kid in a candy shop!! Thanks for being here -- I was able to make an informed choice on my purchase by viewing the many posts.

All smiles here -- if you can see me through the vapor. :))

I've seen several people say this is 'a good idea.' It's not.
The cart filler/poly..only comes into contact with the 'bridge,' or the steel mesh *wick* for the atomizer, with the actual atomizer hid 'further inside' in the ceramic pot, wrapped around another small wick you can't see. While if you're running a cart dry, I'm sure there are unpleasant tastes, it's *still* highly likely it's from the *inner* wick, not the cart's poly coming in contact with the atomizer bridge/wick. You'd have to vape *quite* dry for the atomizer bridge to melt the cart's poly, IMHO.

If you cut the cart poly back, you're messing with the one thing that keeps a cart lasting longer than dripping - it's ability to use capillary action to wick juice from the cart, through the poly, through the steel mesh atty bridge, to the atty...and I'd wager the only time you'd be getting much of a hit at *all* is if you're overfilling your carts, so literally they are dripping onto the mesh atty bridge.

Take one apart, or look for pics from others, or diagrams, and you'll see what I mean.

A message to the original poster:

I have the same experience as you (I think).
I can only get two drops into the cart even after a full hour of puffing, the vapor comes out in giant flavorless clouds with no substance at all.

I have a weird question for you, do you get a "foamy" feeling from the vapor? Like it's doing something weird to your saliva? I get this experience when I start getting that dry vapor. The first few drags of a fresh cart are great, but then comes the nasty cloud of death.

I've read through this thread, and so far I see no new info as to what can be done to remedy this. I've tried all the standard maintenance stuff and still both attys give the same dry foamy vapor.

One of my atomizers started to unravel, the brown wicking from inside started to come out, getting tangled up in the bridge. I'm getting a replacement soon, if it works better I'll let you know. I sure hope it does, as I am going through 10 ml a day with the constant topping off. Too bad, as the first day or so with this thing it was rocking my world, but now...:(
I'm not giving up hope yet.

Edit: Could it be the juice I'm using? Has anyone else ever experienced this dry "foamy" vapor I'm talking about on a 510 or any other device? I hope it's the liquid and not the Yeti, as that would save me a few bucks when it comes to replacing stuff.
