Hey gang! Guess i'm new to the family. :)

I have gotten my hands on what was described to me as one of the very first mini reos ever made. I feel very lucky to have it. But I have a, couple questions.

The firing button twists a quarter turn of a circle. Im not sure its purpose. Is it to adjust for flat top vs button top batteries? It looks and turns sort of like a rheostat.

Where is a good place to find these remarkably odd batteries? I believe they take 14500s? I imagine I will need to get a new charger for them as well? Obviously I want/need quality batts, but price is a large factor for me currently.

Can this og mini be fitted with the sub ohm upgrade pack? If so would the standard one for the mini 2.1s be correct? (not sure bc of the batt size difference)

Lastly, what is the cheapest bf rda that reo users prefer? I still want quality but may have to sacrifice it a bit temporarily. Id try to convert one of my rdas into a bf'er, but my drill grew legs... :(

I know some are going to think or say 'why is price such an issue? You should have waited before buying a reo'. And normally id agree with you, but the truth is that I lost my job and got the reo in a pif from a very generous soul. I am not saying this to get sympathy just to explain why its such a factor for me currently. Ive already been super lucky! And ive come to terms with the fact that my reo will be shelved for a hot minute before I get to use it.. But at least I actually have one now and that was the largest obstacle.

But since I have one, at least I get to show it off!

I believe the OG mini has a smaller diameter catch cup and would require additional milling on the RM2. You would need to send a pm to redeyedancer and I am sure he can fix you up.
You would probably want to stay in 1.2ohm range with a 14500 battery.

What kind of charger do you have?

Steamer about covered it. Cute little thing. The OG Mini is one of my all-time favorite REOs, and that blue anodized is just beautiful. I predict you're going to love it. The upgrade kit listed for the Mini 2.1 will fit that. You still can't sub-ohm with it because of battery limitations, but I can easily run a 1.1-1.3 ohm coils on mine with no problems. You will need to have about 4 batteries, IMHO. On mine, one battery will last about half a day. I agree the Reomizer 2.0 (what we call RM2) is perfect for your Mini.

Congratulations that OG mini is in great condition. I had one for a time and traded for a 2.1. I loved the form factor but the color just wasn't me. I put in the upgraded contacts and it made a big difference. The AMR 14500 is a 4 amp battery so about 1.3 ohm is near it's limit, and I usually swapped the battery after half a bottle of juice. Enjoy that piece of history.

Edit: Jan beat me to it.:vapor:

Rattler, I think that once Rob figured out that a lot of us were still using the OG Minis and putting Reomizers on them, he started milling them down automatically to fit it as well. I could be wrong....

Hey wandering soul (you of the weird-vaping-tricks-vis-a-vis-chest-hair, if I'm not mistaken), welcome to Reoville :toast:

You really should PM Rob (redeyedancer) to get the low down on exactly what you have on your hands. It's very unique (as in "collectable" and "half the people in here are really envious right now"), and made in the days of non-rebuildable atties and cartos.

Thanks for the pics (you should be proud).

I wonder if it would be worth putting it up in the swap thread for a Mini 2.1 or Grand?

Might be able to use currently owned 18490 or 18650 batteries? Use the 14500 battery money to buy an atty?

ETA - Hey forgot to say Congrats! wandering soul on scoring a Reo! Your vaping life may never be the same again :)

Wow, I had no idea quite what this little guy is. Im honored that it found it's way to me.. Ill try to do er right.. Just hope im ok not sub ohming..
The rm2 does sound quite the treat. Single coil which would be better for that sized batt id think. Just hope the 1+ohm coils can deliver satisfying flavor and TH...vapor would be nice.

Hmmm..maybe funky coil bulls/compositions would be in order... Itll be fun finding out.. Super excited :)

An RM2 will work just fine on it. I have one of my RM2's on mine right now and I have it working really well. - I used 1.5 and 1.8 ohm commercial attys on it since I got it in 2011 until just a few weeks ago when I got a couple of RM2s. - Because of the limitations of 14500 batts, as others have said, this is not a sub-ohm device. However, one of the beauties of the rebuildables is that you can really get them cranking even without making sub-ohm coils.

At first, I didn't think the RM2 was going to be appropriate at all for the 14500 mini... but I've learned a few things. The picture below is a pretty good way to set it up. It isn't my prettiest coil, but that's 1.4 ohms... Notice (if the pic is good enough) how high off the deck I have the coil. When the cap is on, the air hole is below the coil - not blowing in to it or right at it, but *under* it. With a more potent battery and a lower ohm coil, having the coil that high would produce more TH than most folks seem to prefer. At 1.4-1.6 ohms and getting its electricity from a 14500, it produces really good vapor. It's a lot cooler than I'm running my other RM2 on my Grand, but the flavor is excellent and vapor density is very good.

Hope that helps. Congrats on your new REO. --- I've been using my 14500 mini for almost 3 years. It has never once let me down. It always works... Even after 3 years, I really really like it and use it a lot.

I do have an adjustable charger for 18350-18500-18650... Just didn't think it would work for 14000s... ,ill check it out... Thanks for all the advice guys.. Great community here. :)

18350s are shorter than 14500s and your charger should work with those. I have a nitecore and use it for my 18350s, 18650s and 14500s. 14500s are just thinner in circumference and they fit in the cradle/bay just fine.
