Hi Everyone!

For the past few weeks or so I've been researching whenever I can. So far I've decided to go for

Eleaf iStick 30w
Nautilus Mini

I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible but its a little hard not to get overwhelmed by all the information out there. What I'm currently trying to figure out is what juice to get.

I'm really really liking the vaping Rabbit line but I saw that there might be problems with it because it's high VG. I'm a bit confused and I was hoping someone could dumb it down for me. Some of the other juice lines I'm looking at is 50/50.

Another question is what is the proper way to change juices? Any other advice would be fantastic. I'm a little embarrassed, I hate to sound like a total beginner.

Dorkolicious welcome to the forum. Equipment wise I'd say you're headed in the correct direction. PG in eliquids is best known for the throat hit and flavor carrier, VG is best known for the vapor clouds, though it has been said to have a slight sweetness. Higher PG - more flavor, higher VG - more vapor. Some people will recommend taking apart the Mini to clean, and others will simply say swab it out the old juice (some mixed with the new) will progress through the wick in no time at all. You might look for a video on Youtube about cleaning the mini, because eventually you'll get to that point.

Edit: Some people have problems with higher PG juices, I get mine at 70PG / 30VG. Which ever juice you purchase, I'd highly recommend buying made in the US. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/forum-suppliers/ <--- also look for coupons in the header bar of every page.

Welcome Dorkolicious! You sound a lot like me, trying to take it all in and figure out what you want. I have an iStick 20W and a Kanger Aerotank V2, which was a happy accident on how well they work together because I bought one well before I bought the other.

I get my PG/VG mix at 40%/60%. I'm very sensitive to the PG, as it hurts my throat quite a lot. But I like the proportions I have now. Still plenty of flavor and an awesome cloud.

I don't do anything fancy to change juices. I either vape what's left of the old or dump it out and let it drip for a minute to make sure most is gone. Dump the new in, and a few hits later, it's been put through the wick enough to provide the new flavor.

As was mentioned before, definitely go after juices made in the US.

I'm still learning a lot too, so hopefully we will get it all figured out as we go along. :)

i use the nautilus mini too, i have mainly 70/30 PG/VG in mine and it wicks beautifully, the more VG in the mix the thicker it can be and if it's not thinned down it may create a burnt taste in the tank due to it not wicking as quick as your drawing on it, trial and error really, i mix my own juices and i haven't tried anything more than 60/40 PG/VG in the nautilus so can't help beyond that, again though as said, PG gives more throat hit so yo may find a higher PG base too harsh, i smoke rolling tobacco before so i was used to non filtered and prefer the harsher throat hits higher PG can give

Dorkoliscious, to be honest I haven't had any problems "yet" with my coils. From what I've read, the really sweet juices can gunk up the coils, where they will need to be replaced or cleaned. VG is thicker than PG. Having extra coils is a good idea. The rule of thumb is backups for everything. You can't vape when you recharge the battery (depending on the type), or the coil need replaced. I keep more than a few "tanks" and batteries handy, I switch flavors often just by changing a tank.

yeh i have 3 devices, 3 batteries and 5 tanks with at least 12 flavours knocking about, i get used to 1 flavour then start on another then another etc etc then i always get a nice fresh taste no matter what juice i'm on and i can have at least 1 tank cleaning and 1 battery charging but still have stuff to use

That juice search can be the hardest part. I liked the first few I tried until my sense of taste changed and my sense of smell returned. Then I hated those first juices and had to go on what I call "the great juice hunt of 2012".

I don't want to discourage, just point out that finding the right juices can be a trial for some vapers.

You choice of devices is just fine. I might suggest a second tank so that you can use more than one flavor. Some like to switch flavors often.

Miggs, I'm the same way, haven't found my "ADV (all day vape) so I switch flavors a lot. First time my battery needed charged, I wanted a cig again, went straight to the store and bought another battery.

i did the exact same thing, wanted to keep costs down when i first started as didn't know if i was going to stick with it so instead of buying a double kit i bought the single, first time my battery was dead i was fine for a few mins then the stress started, watching the charger and waiting for what felt like forever, next day went out and got 2 of everything lol

as for my adv, i have 2 fave flavours that i will always have, one is red bull and the other red astaire, i did try a week on red bull, after 4 days it started to taste bland, i got a menthol flavour and this seemed to cleanse the pallet so now i tend to switch a lot, it helps when you mix your own too as i make a tester mix and put it in the dripper nic free to get the taste, if i like it i'll add some nic and try it again, if it's a keeper then it goes in a tank, so far this method has worked well, the only downside is picking a flavour to use for a day lol

Ahahaha and this is where my research overload happened. I love having backups for everything, I actually did start researching another device and tank but I got hung up on all the different ones out there. If someone looked at my Google history and YouTube one they'd be a bit frightened at how much I've looked at. Reason why I picked the istick and nautilus mini, it just seemed so easy. I've gone crossed eyed at all the different types of devices/clearomizers/cartomizers etc etc etc.... Saying that I would really appreciate some pointers for a second device and tank. I'm actually eyeing KangerTech's Subtank Nano. I'm still up in the air about the second device.

The reason why I'm leaning more towards VG is because my stomach can be a little finicky at times and when I smoked I'd get hit with nausea at random moments.

You guys have been great. Thank you so much for answering my questions.

it might be worth looking into getting your own stuff and mix your own juices, it sounds daunting but it is real easy, there are plenty of mixing calculators out there to chose from to simplify it further, you can mix 5ml batches of juice in different ratios so you know what suits you best, as for a second device, i think the MVP that's due to be released is a cool bit of kit, i'm quite happy with my nautilus as a tank but i know theres a few people raving about the beyond vape silo

I bought 2 Mini's when I got mine, They swap out easily on all the stick batteries (like the 2 Vision Spinner2's I also have) Backups come down to what you want to spend. Just like Miggs suggested on DIY (do it yourself) liquids, I'm looking into perhaps doing that in the near future. Eleaf is coming out with a 50W mod real soon for only $50 (thereabouts), so your options are varied and great. (Then sub ohm, and dripping, and other type mods...etc..) Good luck :)

to ecf Dorkolicious. Nice to meet you and so glad you are here. Don't worry, we were all new once and you will not find a better group of people than here on ecf. Congrats on your new setup. I've read many things about them and people seem to like them a lot.

Here is a great place to start reading and learning.

I make all my own juice now but you will get lots of recommendations for Nicoticket.

I think while you are trying to find new juices, why not get them on sale. Here is a great thread for finding good deals.

Dork - Welcome to the forum and good choice in battery and tank. Nautty's are a mainstay for much of the vaping community and the leaf is a pretty bad little battery.

The juice problem, I suspect will trouble you for months to come. Don't give up. You will start to accrue your ADV's, but it just takes time to find the flavor, juice, ratio and strength that hits your sweet spot. It will come thought. Be patient and when your juices get in try 'em. Play with different voltages to find the sweet spot. AND if you have some juice that doesn't quite taste right. Sit it aside someplace out of the way to steep and you may find that a few weeks later the juice's flavors have matured and turned into something you like. Or maybe not. Either way, hang and there and welcome.

Good luck and I'll see you around the threads.

Vape On!

**For my money the best fruit and cream flavor (well, one of the best) is alpha vape Hoops. Just saying'.

I'm newer to vaping and am still looking for my mainstay juices. What has been nice is that I've found a local vape shop that will let you sample whatever they have. At least I know I'm not going to hate whatever I bring home.

Be careful with that. Usually, most shops offer 0% Nic juice at the flavorbar so some folks have reported juices they loved in the store only to find out that once they got home the flavor wasn't quite as good as they thought. It's happened to me more than once.

Usually, I just push through and try and find a better heat/coil to Vape with, play with the airflow, etc... Or I just sit em aside and try again a few weeks later.

Much luck to you and I hope everything you find tastes just as good at home.

Yeah, they are up front that their samples are at 3 nic. Found a flavor today I really liked.. they didn't have it avail at 12 nic
