New to dripping - harsh throat hit

Hi all,

So I've been using tanks for the past couple of months.. kayfun lite and my nemmy clone.

I've bought an IGO-w4 and made a dual coil setup, came up to roughly 0.5ohms. I've used little cotton.

I dripped some Pillow Talk juice (12mg) onto it and my throat hit is really harsh, I mean really, to the point that I am coughing like mad..

Any ideas? Been using 30awg kanthal wire.

I'm not the most experienced in dripping, but I think most people that do drip use 3-6 mg nic because more tab that is too rough

well I'm guessing that it's producing far more vapor than your KFL and with 12mg juice it can get a bit harsh. Also are you using stock air holes in the igo? I find if not enough air gets to the coils it will produce a much hotter vape that is not so nice on your throat.

Lower your nic level. 6mg hurts my throat a lot when I sub ohm.

Make sure your coils are properly aligned both vertically and horizontally with the airholes when you install the cap. Also based on personal preference, it may help to make sure the coils are as close to the airhole/deck edge as possible (without risking shorts).

Also what battery are you using currently?

It might just be the juice your using. When I use blends with pg I get the same thing. Just an idea though.

I use 24mg when vaping out of my Ego's, but when I started dripping they (local B&M) told me "NO WAY". So I went to 6 when dripping. I tried some 12 that I had and it was a little rough.

First 0.5 ohms is low, you probably don't use your kayfun at those wattages, it changes things. On a single coil it can be really harsh on your throat and you get a lot of nic.

But the most probable reason imho would be a bad coil of wick. Most probably your wick is not touching the coil in one or more places, the coil heats up and you're inhaling hot kanthal, which is very very harsh and also bad for your health. With cotton it is rare since it expands, but it can happen it you really don't put alot of it.

Did you try firing your coil a several secs with a wet wick and the cap off ? If the coil is glowing red somewhere there's your problem.

Coil is fine. I've done many for my kayfun. Battery is 18650.

Also when changing juices do I have to change the wick?

Don't have to although I reccommend it unless you don't mind the two juices mixing. It's always a good idea to start with a fresh wick when changing juices IMO
