Hello everyone, I just did my first build and started dripping last week. The first one I tried was way too harsh but after a little trial and error I started getting some good little clouds going. If I normally vape 18mg in a nautilus tank on my provari set at about 5.0 what nicotine should I use when dripping? I put some of my normal 18mg 80 pg 20 vg and it was way too hard...tried 16 mg 50/50 and it was better but still too much. do you need special liquid for dripping? I'm just running a single coil in a plumveil with 30 ga kanthal 8 wraps and the ohm meter is right at 1.8 on my itaste svd at 14 watts. Would 80 vg 20 pg be better? 100 vg?

Nothing magic about drippers or juice.

A lot of people build low ohm duals for their drippers and the increased efficiency produces more vapor. More vapor per draw means you can/should back off on the nic to get the same experience (TH and so forth). Temperature also plays a role - the hotter the vape, the more TH you're likely to experience - as does how you inhale (mouth2lung versus direct lung) and air flow. These so called "cloud chasing" variables are behind why so many people who drip reduce their nic - they're getting a wallop more vapor per inhale.

Other folks use single coils at ~1.5ohms in their drippers and aren't producing more vapor or temperature (than, say, a nautilus with BVC at 15-20 watts). They don't feel the need to downsize the nic.

Soooo... the net of this is that the juice that will work for you is driven more by the build and vaping style than the dripper itself. A lot of people treat all dripping the same when it's actually the widest range of different vaping experience possible. Given that you have a 1.8ohm single coil driven at not-obscene power levels, you shouldn't be experiencing a drastic need to lower the nic. If it's harsh, there just might be issues with hot legs or wicking (dry hits). That said, lower the nic by all means - try half of what you normally vape to see how it feels. If you can get away with less nic, this would be a bonus, no?

I never vape more than 12mg. I started at 18 like you, but when you upgrade and produce more vapor it's too much nic and it noticeably impacts the flavor.

You might want to check bionic as they offer 18, 15, 12, 9, 6, and 3 so it's easier to find your sweet spot. Good juice!

Like others...I prefer at least 70% vg when vaping at higher volume.

I dripped 24-18mg for about a month or so around 12-15 watts. Like Papa Lazarou pointed out, it's not all *that* different from a decent clearomizer.

That said, my juice all of a sudden started feeling harsher than usual out of nowhere. I recently dropped to 15mg, and it's been great.

No need to race to lower nicotine levels, in my opinion. Your body will let you know if it's too intense (once you rule out a bad build, etc).

At first I think it was the juice (80 pg) but since i bumped up the vg it better so I'm thinking maybe its an air flow thing...after reading some of the answers I started playing with the setting on the side (where it opens to larger hole) and it is better. Maybe I'm strange (ok that's actually a fact lol) but I lung hit when I drip but mouth hit with tank. I don't want to be like a cloud chaser....I think I'll leave that to the guys haha but I enjoy the flavor I get when dripping...I'll keep messin with it. Have y'all had people ask you how long you gonna do this? Like they think its temporary??? I might just vape till I die....I think that falls in the category of nobodys bidness but MINE! :vapor:

I'd recommend 6 or 12 nic, anything higher will be pretty harsh on a dripper, so unless you're used to it and like that kinda thing, lower nic is just all around more comfortable to vape, 6 can still give you a little kick, and it's what I prefer, and you can always go back to higher PG juices for more throat hit. Just be careful with the higher levels, it's pretty easy to overdose on nicotine if you chain vape.

I had no intention of lowering nic, but for me better gear just made it happen. I only use 6mg in drippers. The better my gear got the lower my nic levels were that I vaped. Once I started wrapping my own coils it was 12mg in tanks and 6mg in drippers. All I vape is 6mg now. I started with 24 and 18 in cartos and clearos.

I drip 18-24 mg all the time.

Mostly because gandymarsh has an extra chromosome or two (ooooorrrrr he/she drips at a pansy wattage :p).

I'm with everyone else. I lowered my nic levels a lot when I started dripping. I started out vaping at 14 mg nic in my tanks. Got down to 8 mg in the tank when I started dripping. Granted, my first dripper was a Mutation X on a mech mod @ 0.13 ohm (135W) and I started @ 4mg nic. After about 4-6 hits I would go to refill and notice that my hands were shaking so bad that I couldn't refill the RDA very well. Now I drip 2mg or less but still run 6mg or more in my RBA's.

It's definitely YMMV but when dripping at high wattages (blowing big clouds) anything over 6 nic is like hot-boxing a cigar (and inhaling) to me. I was at a local shop earlier this week when a couple came in asking for 36 mg liquid. The owner tried to explain that it's not really safe to vape too much 36mg liquid and that you could actually have a heart attack, maybe he could interest them in a more serious delivery system??? They (with much attitude) explained that they had been vaping 36mg for a year and 24mg made them go back to analogs. So he politely referred them to a shop that would mix 36 and wished them a nice day.

Regular full flavor cigs have 12ish mg of nic in them. A sub ohm hit off a RDA is like 3 draws of a cig for me. Dripping sub-ohm (less than 0.2) is what PROVED to me that nicotine really is a stimulant.

I drip 20pg or all VG personally.
