I started vaping 2 months ago, and have been off analogs for about 1.5 months (did have one recently, but didn't like it at all). I had tried patches, gum, cold turkey, cutting down, you name it.

I have to admit I was skeptical at first. A friend of mine had quit, and was raving about e-cigs. I really only bought one to cut down on how many analogs I had in a day. I was trying to stay around 5, with some wiggle room for if I went out and tied one on.

So, I expected it to help me stick to that plan. What I didn't expect, what really shocked me, was that I started feeling stupid for continuing to smoke. Why smoke when I can vape?

I started out with a starter kit from V2 Cigs. They have batteries/carts with KR808-D1 threading. It worked! I of course figured that would be that. I would just keep ordering from them. Then I noticed they had a forum, and started reading about refilling with e-liquid, or "juice". Nah! Not going to bother with that! I'll just buy the refilled. A few nice messages from members there later? I was youtubing how to refill. Then I notice they aren't using anything like what I am. They use carts, but not for my threading.

Well, to make a long story somewhat shorter, I realized there were so many freakin' options for vaping. What I thought I liked, I really don't like that much anymore.

I've been testing out a few different juice vendors. I bought an ego tank system (like the battery, not so much on tanks). I've ordered some clearomizers, a carto tank, and I really don't see using the v2 for that much longer. Just not my thing. I used the 1100mah ego battery for 8 hours and was still vaping strong. The v2 doesn't give me half that.

I just ordered an ego twist, so I can start to play around with different voltage settings. From what I have read here and other places, that's where I'm heading.

I know from several posts around the 'net that the Provari (or at least a mod of that class and $$) is probably where I'll end up. It's just with the money I have spent on starter kits, new batteries, new accessories, and now new juices, I just haven't been able to pull the trigger on something that expensive just yet. I have a feeling I'll head that way eventually.

Anyway, the best part of switching from smoke to vapor for me was realizing there are so many people who have done the same. This is no fluke for me, and thanks to all of you vocal vapors, I know I've done it this time!

Thanks for reading, and hope to get more involved in the forums in the future.

Welcome to the light, lurker.

I'd wait on any big purchases because over the next month there are going to be some newcomers to the market that make shake it up a little bit. Just kick back.

EGO tanks are leaky and they are garbage so I'd recommend against them. As far as what you can do now, try an EGO Twist. They are $19 with free shipping from VaporBeast.

Thanks! I am such a lurker!! Trying to change my lurking ways.

I had read a bunch of posts of people buying starter kit after starter kit. I ordered a twist, which should hopefully be waiting for me when I get home tonight! I figured that would do for a while.

Just lurking (as is my wont), I have seen how far vaping has come over the last year, so thanks for the advice on waiting. Can't wait to see what comes next!

I had one tank leak, one tank cartridge wouldn't punch through, and the ones that did work I just didn't like the taste I was getting. I tried a few different atomizers, but still it was almost like I was just vaping air, if you know what I mean.

I got a clearomizer, and tried that on my ego, and it was much better. Can't wait to try different volts, as I still feel there is something lacking. Can't believe that what I liked a month ago no longer cuts it.

I saw a post from you earlier about a "all you ever needed to know" blog you wrote, and I will definitely check that out.

Again, thanks for the advice. This forum as a whole has been so much different then other forums I've tried to be a part of. So many people trying to help one another.

Oh, only 2 more posts 'til I can really join in the fun!

Hi mph2372 ! Welcome to the ECF forum! I'm trying to place you....I used to be very active on the V2 forum (and still drop in from time to time). I'm known by a different handle/avatar there though. Does emeleste ring any bells? lol! I hung out here for nearly a year without joining, but finally pulled the trigger last month when things got a bit dull over at the other place.

Don't give up on cartomizers altogether! There IS a very good cartomizer for KR808 that holds 2ml., is extremely durable and can be refilled dozens upon dozens of times (with no degradation of taste or vapor) and can be cleaned. They also look good! You might want to look into Smokeless Image's X2 batteries Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Volt X2 Battery Passthrough - Accessories They act as both battery and passthroughs...and are available in 650mAh, 900 mAh and 1300mAh. Personally, I find the KR808 battery types to hold a charge longer, and be more "sturdy" and durable. Also I seem to get a stronger more satisfying "hit" from them. But I also use eGos and their various incarnations. For the eGos...look into the Smoke Tech eGo Mega cartomizers. The most common ones are EMDCC ...or dual coils. They hold between 3 and 5 ml. depending on what you get. Thing is...I don't like a really warm vape and that is what you will get with a DC. Lots of people seem to like them, and like I said the DCs are the most common. But I'm not a fan of hot fingers and hot mouth/throat, funky flavor or burnt taste (not to mention they eat up a battery's charge fast!) . I go for the Smoke Tech SINGLE coil eGo Megas...either 2ohm or 3 ohm are fine for your Twist or any other eGo you may have. They run cooler, and taste much better IMHO!

Needless to say...I am a cartomizer fan as I like simple with no leaks, and long lasting while still delivering excellent flavor. I don't really use the regular cartomizers anymore, but really like the large capacity ones. I tried nearly every tank there is on the market right now, and so far...while I'd like them initially...the romance would quickly turn sour. Something would go wrong..cracks, or leaks. or just too fiddly and too much hassle. I've stopped using tanks of any kind...even the clearos and DCTs etc. Just my experience.

Again Welcome!

Hi, Nettles. Glad to hear it. It's really stories like yours that made me feel real hope that analogs were a thing of the past for me.

Welcome!

I took a while, but I got my husband vaping too - to start with he vaped a bit and smoked a bit, but now there is no stinky stuff in the house - just the nice smell of vaping!!
I have found that rather than being a cig replacement, vaping has now turned into a hobby! I often think dreamily of cigs, but never actually WANT one!
