I too am new to vaping. 3 weeks analog free today. I use an eGo-c and vision 2 clearomizer, and like it pretty well. Things I've learned in the past few weeks: 1. sample at the store if you can. 2. steeping is necessary for tobacco flavored e-liquids (and some others I'm sure). I've got 3 bottles in the cabinet that taste awful, but hoping they 'come around' in a couple weeks. 3. For me, it's about the throat hit. Higher PG does this for me. Also, I started out a few months ago on a really low nicotine level and couldn't give up the analogs. But finally switched to 18mg and have no cravings now for an analog. I agree totally with one of the above comments, that you're never really 'good to go'! There's always something out there I'm researching or shopping for. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum!

One random tip? Google "e-cigarette >name of nearest town here<". Your profile says you are in Chicago? You might be surprised at how many retailers carry the goods. Look especially for a store that is well-stocked on hardware and juice. My little local shop carries over 100 flavors and you can try any of them at the shop for free! Batteries, etc. are of course a little more expensive than buying online but it's nice to know that if I need to do a warranty return or need to buy a replacement part I can have it in my hands that same day.

I'm sorry that you've had bad luck with blu flavors.
I have a Premium 100 kit. The only flavor I really like is Cherry Crush.
Volcano is selling their cartridges on their clearance rack.
They're PG heavy and not my thing. But the flavors are very different than blu. Jet Cigs is another vendor that sells blu style cartos.
Their Mojito & Chocolate flavors are delicious.
You can get them for half price with a coupon code.

I rarely order cartridges from blu anymore.
I've been told by others, that the store bought ones are often stale.
I have no idea why they keep making Java Jolt.
Pina Colada is a good non tobacco flavor.
You might as well get some use out of your kit.
The PCC works great & it's sleek looking.
I've have a better setup now. But I use my blu when out.
I use the Johnson Creek Vea at home.
It produces huge clouds of vapor.
I could only imagine the looks I would get at the bar!

Welcome and happy vaping! Hope you find what you are looking for. There is a ton of info here, so keep diligent

Random facts:
VV = variable voltage
VW = variable wattage
VTF = vapor, throat hit, flavor
RBA = rebuildable atomizer

Many devices allow you to increase/decrease your voltage/wattage, based on the ohm topper you use. Every cartomizer, clearomiser, and RBA, you come across, will have a different ohm resistance. Based upon this number, you can fine tune your vape to find your "sweet spot" that produces, for you, the best VTF. With ohms law, you can determine what wattage you prefer to vape at, based on the voltage you have set, and the resistance of your topper. When you have a variable wattage device, you can set this number in, and your device will automatically hit that wattage, no matter what ohm topper use. IMO, VW is superior to VV, as you don't have to do math on the go. You set your wattage and forget about it.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. If you decide to get deeper into these types of devices, make sure you read up and research about ohms, wattage, and variable volts, so you can make an educated decision on what to buy.

Never buy ecig stuff at a mall location. They aren't deliberately trying to screw you, but half of the price you pay for their stuff is paying their rent. I look at my local mall guy this way. If there is an emergency, and I need something in an hour, I'll go to the mall.

Beware of "starter kits." Most of the time you can buy the stuff separately and save $$$.

If you buy a mod that requires batteries, RTD Vapors is the #1 place to buy batteries from. They have the best prices on batteries + good customer service.

Boge 510 carto's fit on the blu, and you can fill them with any juice you like. I use 2.0 ohm boges, those would probably drain the little battery fairly quick though, they also come in a 3.0 ohm version.

An ego battery is a nice step, you can get a spinner or twist and play with the voltage to find your sweet spot. My first ego was a 650 passthrough, cheap because I didn't need to buy a separate charger. I now have four mods, the 650 passthrough and a 1300 mah spinner, and they all get used.

Sounds complicated, but I'm going to look deeper into this. I'm good with math. Thanks again, all!

I'm looking forward to my time here! If you have the time, post ONE random fact of information about vaping for me to read, something like what mAh means. I'll start learning more with these facts. Thanks!

Just one?

ECF (this forum) is the place to be if you have questions about vaping and want to learn.

(And I'm not just being biased because I'm a member, I've been around less than two weeks and have learned truckloads already. Great place. Stick around. Also, welcome aboard!)

Boge 510 carto's fit on the blu...

They do but don't work well for me. Not sure what Blu did but the Boge work great on the pass through but not so great on the Blu.

Not that it matters in my case. The Blu's on its way to a new home soon. Friend who tried a disposable and liked it. Was going to buy a Blu kit when I said, "STOP!". I mean, I got one and the price is good. Pay for shipping. I'm moving on.

(Sigh. My new kit is here, the juice still in transit. Got caught by the weekend. Should be here Monday. Talk about frustrating. Nice new kit, nothing to put in it. Limping along the rest of the weekend on the Blu.)

Here are a bunch of facts for you:

- Dont buy into the hype about Provari. Many people understand why it is good and can justify their huge investment in one, of course, but the rest are uninformed fanboys. I would even say the majority are fanboys.

- Do not be afraid of jumping into Rebuildable Atomizers. Many will tell you how hard they are to set up, but they are really not. Do a lot of research, and you will get the best vape possible with them.

- Shiny expensive mods are overrated. Only buy something if you understand fully why you need it.

- Cheap does not equal bad. With the amount of information i have acquired, i fully believe that you almost always have an alternative to anything for a fraction of the price. What matters most is knowledge and skills. I had one guy on here yesterday who bought a $150 Phoenix atomizer and could not get it to work. Here I am vaping away at my $16 DID clone that works wonders.

I would stay away from V2.
If you think Blu flavors suck.
They're a flavor explosion compared to V2.
Their hardware is also overpriced.
If you want a better cigalike.
Check out the Smokeless Image Volt or Volcano Magma.
I tried the V2 sampler pack, with their adapter on South Beach batteries.
Most of the flavors were disgusting.
The next day I ordered the Blu Premium 100.

........................... Hey man !.

Gets a bit confusing when you don't know what's what ?. Most people would choose an ego type set up when progressing from cig-a-likes.

It's about wanting longer battery life + larger fluid capacity. I think most get sick of short battery life and small cartridges.

There's a lot of vendors putting their own name on an ego battery but ego's are pretty much all the same apart from their size. A good ego type would be an ego twist or the vision spinner, both being variable voltage from 3.2v to 4.8v.

Then you've got to decide what you want to screw onto it. I've got my own preferrences, and so does everyone else. So i'd say these things are cheap enough for you to sample each and make your own mind up because no one knows what will work for you.

Same goes for fluids. Vegetable Glycerine or Propylene Glycol or a mixture of both. A mixture of both is what you'll find from most vendors. PG has a coarse texture and VG has a smooth texture. So what type of fluid you'll need will be a major part in your decision making process. There is a learning curve and everyone goes through it.

I just think Blu flavors suck because it seems like they all try to emulate real tobacco and its disgusting. If i'm going to inhale something that is supposed to taste like tobacco it will be burning tobacco not tobacco flavored vapor. Blu is all about emulating cigarettes, NOT vaping. I love nicotine, not analogs, so Blu isn't my favorite.

What new kit did you get? Im keeping my Blu for the public, but thinking about also trying a v2.

Joye 510-T from Cignot. My "budget" right now is, "See how much change is in the sofa" so I was looking for inexpensive. Also didn't yet want to get too far from the "cig-a-like". I know a lot of folks don't care for them but there's a... call it "psychological" thing involved with me. Like I put an "ashtray" next to the computer where the actual ashtray used to sit. Let the Blu rest in it. It's... fooling myself? But it works. I did a lot of smoking without thinking about it much at all while working at the computer. Now when I reach half consciously for that spot, it's vapor not tobacco.

(Heh, caught myself "flicking ashes" a few times even.)

'Course, everybody's different. I started as a "pleasure smoker" and still actually like it. Even though it tuned into addiction and rote habit, I still liked it those times I got to sit and smoke (as opposed to working at the computer and using cigs as a nicotine delivery device). "Form factor" may be completely meaningless to you while it's damn near critical for me.

If "shape" don't matter, get the big batteries. Blu batteries will drive you up a wall. They're only about 90 mAh if I recall. Maybe 80. Based on the rule of thumb that 100 mAh = 1 hour (roughly), you're talking 45 minutes maybe? Try switching batteries while driving. Okay, actually, don't try switching batteries while driving. :)
